Have a free tip from a no-jetpack veteran: every single grid has an antenna, a remote control, and some cameras, even if it doesn't move or do anything. Having an antenna on a grid means you can remote into it and control blocks like doors and whatever. Having a remote control on it means you can set up grid-specific hotbars, and also move it around if it's a grid that can move. All of these are invaluable if you can't just jetpack back up. As for why stuff ends up in your inventory instead of the ship when you press the magic button, make sure the left side is showing the inventory you want to move things to. It moves it to the top-most inventory on the left by default.

@@MadMavn Don't know if you fixed the problem yet or not, but when it happened to me, I found that a combination of recent Windows and app update(s) changed some of the recording settings (thinks like the mic levels [Windows], resolution/compression [app], codec [app]) and it played holy hell on my settings until I went in and manually reset everything back to the previous values. Basically the recording app changed how it was doing compression on my selected resolution/codec settings, also changed how it was supporting the selected codec, but didn't change the selection visually. When I finally got to verifying all of the numbers manually, figured out it was a setting conflict and resetting everything to the "good values" (had to select a different preset, then reselected the original preset) fixed the issue. Either way good luck (if you haven't fixed it yet) or congrats (if you did!)

Lol remember, connectors dont need power on both sides to connect anymore

Find iron and build a drone miner. Then build an outside connector and start banking iron and ice. Let's get some resources going. Keep your small base as a temp base, then design a new base nearby once you have your workflow established. Also, you can use a couple of turret controllers and some pistons to make robotic arms. You can control pistons on the toolbar using reverse and on-off

You need to be extra careful with that build planner trick you learned. I knew about that one as well, but the biggest issue with it is, if the inventories you're trying to transfer components into (on the left) actually has some of the components required, it'll move them from the right side to the left side, effectively counting the components without actually adding any. My solution for this is to just *not* be lazy, and label all my grids, so if I do want to use build planner inside and inventory like that, I just search my ship on the left, and the station on the right, and things work just fine!
@allmhuran2 жыл бұрын
I thought you did really well getting the interior of that hangar set up. I was worried you would need to expand the whole thing by a few blocks in at least 2 dimensions, which would mean tearing up and rebuilding your exterior aesthetics and so on. But it turned out rather nicely.

For your Problem at 20:55 you can place the stairs or ramp block (in the Ladder group) with an interrior plate. It acts like the slope steel armor but in a one click fashion and you can bridge a 2 block gap or elevate 2 blocks in one click easy. I haven't seen this tip in the comments yet. Hope it helps some folks
@darkkilo5212 жыл бұрын
If I may add, if someone else has not mentioned it. On the left, your ship, yes; on the right, I search the cargo container holding all the components (give it a unique name) and then do the build planner transfer button. Sometimes if you don't have the right amount in your source cargo, it transfers what is in your welder ships already to reach the totals needed. (Basically transfers from your weldership to your weldership) So you end up thinking you have everything you need but don't.
@SirPigglezWorth2 жыл бұрын
Tethers Mod Solves your power transfer issue. I Think you'd love the Full Block Air Vent. The mod comes with a junction/vent, meaning one side is flat air vent and all others conveyer able. I use to change conveyor directions and or add another vent or two on the side, saves time, vanilla speed vent. SPECTATOR FIX?!? I know most people just set and forget World Settings, But if you turn down render and objects for spectator camera. Also if your not already Hollow Planet CleanUp, gets rid of ships that spawn inside stuff.

Using that button for transferring build queue supplies can be problematic since it will pull from all visible inventories. If you have the receiving inventory listed on the left and the right, then it might pull from receiving inventory to fill the receiving inventory, meaning you'll not have all the components you need. The safe way to do it is to prefix all your cargo containers with an abbreviation of the grid name, then "search" each side by those prefixes (receiver on the left and donor on the right). If you're accessing inventory via the receiver ship, then you can filter the left side with the "this ship only" button like you did in the video and only "search" the right side to make the receiver cargo not visible there. I always just use "Station" as my prefix on stations since they're never going to connect to each other, and I can easily type "stat" with my left hand without letting go of the mouse. Ship prefixes need to be unique so if you have multiple of the same ship type docked on a station (or onto each other) you'll not accidentally put some cargo in the wrong one with that auto-transfer button.
@mailleweaver2 жыл бұрын
I learned of that button pretty soon after it was added. There's an older function, though, that I didn't learn of until I had more than 2000 hours into the game, though. There's a little check box in the paint menu to allow you to disable painting with color so you can paint with just the texture. Super nice for updating an old blueprint or cleaning up rust from a piece of salvage since it lets you paint the entire grid with one click without screwing up the color scheme. For example, you could have changed to the frosty texture on your new hangar without changing the color of your walls or ceiling.

WAIT SERIOUSLY!!! That's amazing. Thanks for the heads up! Also thank you for the suggestion about naming your containers. I think I ran into that issue that you were talking about pulling from my ship back into my ship.

Renaming a bunch of stuff on a large, existing grid can be a bit tedious, even with copy/paste. There is a mod by Meridius_IX that can make it a lot easier, though. Its Steam ID is 2077166496. It will let you select a bunch of blocks, type in a text string, and click a button to make that string a prefix or suffix on all selected blocks at once. Or a different button can completely rename the selected blocks instead of adding to the existing names. For example, if you don't like numbers following all your H2/O2 Generators you can select them all and rename them to "H2/O2 Generator" at once and that will remove the numbers. And if you made a typo that affected a large number of blocks, you can easily reset the names to default and start over. It's a really handy mod that I've not yet found to conflict with any other mods.

Obviously you're not likely to change it now, and tbf, it looks sick as is. But to bring on the point of the paint on one side, and a different on the other, a good alternative to full blocks could be having armour plates on the exterior of the building, it can be obviously difficult in some places to make it work like for more complex shapes, but at the least it would have helped with the majority of the walls you needed painting and would allow for more room on the interior, with minimal affect to the exterior appearance.
