In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Thank you, this was so simply explained and well presented. Had 2 questions if anyone can answer. You mentioned to power off the boat and electronics before switching to battery 1 or 2, what about if you are switching it to the combined setting having power from battery 1 and 2, would you still have to power down the boat? And also, when I have 2 batteries on the boat how do you generally charge each battery especially the house bagtery which would be used more for when the boat is off out in the water? Sorry may be dumb questions but trying to figure all this out.

This is a great video, I have a pontoon with a 50hp yamaha 2 stroke, and my question is where would I attach the charger/regulator of of the motor? The bus bar? The starter battery (but then deep cycle would not change). I was going to mount a small 40w solar panel off the back with a charge controller thinking it would help deep cycle stay charged, but my hunch is I would connect it to same place as engine charger/regulator. But still uncertain where that would be. Any help would be greatly welcomed.

@ReelLifeFisherman Жыл бұрын
I would recommend having the engine on the out put of the switch but you can put it on the bus if you have to. And if you do move it further away you will have to spend alot on much larger gauge wire.. or you will get into a voltage drop problem..

Is the cranking battery basically there because when you first activate the motor the draw on power jumps faster than a normal deep battery can handle well?
@ReelLifeFisherman Жыл бұрын
A cranking battery is designed to start a motor and put out more cranking Amps fast! It also recharges quickly.. but it is not made to last a long period with a heavier load.. a deep cycle is. But a deep cycle has less cranking amps.

I have to rewire my boat, 19 foot. Can you explain how to ground the 115 Mercury I have on the back in a dual battery system? Right now the motor starts and runs just fine. Just turn the key on the dashboard. My console (accessories bilge, running lights, live well pump etc) are not getting power. Are there any videos on 1. how to figure out where the power ends out of the battery? And 2. How to trace the ground out of the outboard so I can continue to replace it correctly? Love the videos and they have inspired me to tackle this on my own. Keith
@ReelLifeFisherman2 жыл бұрын
Awesome I’m glad you like the video! So the outboard grounds directly to the cranking battery negative or the negative bus . The power to the the helm is ran off the battery switch or the positive bus. And should have a breaker or fuse there. It could then run to the helm and go to a fuse panel or individual breakers .. or to a master power switch on the dash and then to a relay which would then go to the fuse panel.. every boat is wired differently by different boat manufacturers.. but that is typically how they would do it.. thanks for watching and commenting. Hopefully that helps
