I've seen a few temples during my time in India, but I never expected to find one of South East Asia's biggest Hindu temples in the world's largest muslim country (by population).
Enter, Prambanan. A mighty Hindu temple dating back many centuries, second only in scale to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Having faced its fair share of natural disasters and events over the years, I was keen to see how both the restoration and the original ruins had faired. And I was not disappointed.
A 47-meter high main temple towered above the horizon, with several other sites providing a close up to the original foundations - in some cases, thousands of years old.
The people I met there were just as impressive in their energy and friendliness, and there was even time for me to try Gudeg and Sate Ayam (Chicken Satay) after a cold fresh coconut from some of the local vendors' warungs.
