Mado Robin a un larynx qui possède la propriété unique au monde de donner les sons les plus aigus qu’aucun larynx humain n’a jamais atteints. Soprano colorature française, née à Yzeures-sur-Creuse le 29 décembre 1918, morte à Paris le 10 décembre 1960. Elle n'a pas encore treize ans lorsqueTon se rend compte qu'elle a une voix. ravissante. Titta Ruffo, I'ayant entendue lors d'une audition amicale, aurait perçu le premier l'étendue de ses dons. Ses parents la confient aux soins éclairés de Madame Fourestier. A dix-neuf ans, elle est lauréate du concours de sopranos de l'Opéra de Paris. La guerre remet à plus tard un engagement qui s'imposait. Loin de se décourager la jeune fille travaille sa voix avec Mario Podestà. Au cours d'exercices de plus en plus aigus, le maître découvre que son élève peut chanter sans effort le contre-contre-ut (ut6), note jamais atteinte par un gosier humain. II s'attache à construire des bases larges et solides à ce phénomène de la stratosphère vocale et y parvient au point de pouvoir présenter son élève à la salle Gaveau (Paris) en 1942. Le public, médusé, n'en croit pas ses oreilles et tout le monde parle de cette cantatrice si étrangement douée et, au demeurant, si char mante de timbre et sympathique de maintien.
En 1945, elle est engagée à l'Opéra où elle est affichée dans Rigoletto, Castor et Pollux, La Flûte enchantée et 'Enlèvement au sérail. Engagée un an plus tard à -l'Opéra-Comique, elle en devient rapidement "la coqueluche, y chantant Leila, Olympia, Lakmé et surtout Rosine. Toutes les scènes de province seTarrachent et sa première Lucia à Marseille - avec le ténor Giuseppe Traverso -restera l'un des grands moments de l'Opéra phocéen. Elle fait ses débuts américains à San Francisco en 1954 dans les rôles de Gilda et de Lucia. Elle est Invitée sur toutes les grandes scènes européennes et en 1959 fait une tournée triomphale en URSS. Elle paraît pour la dernière fois sur scène dans Lakmé à Vichy durant l'été 1960. Surnaturellement douée, Mado Robin était la femme la plus simple et la moins star ». Bellísima, Mado Robin fue una de las mejores voces que han existido, entre más la escucho siento que no estoy escuchando a un ser humano, sin ofender pero es como si ella hubiese tenido un theremín en sus cuerdas vocales, a veces sonando como un pajarillo, sin olvidarse de las piezas que cantaba y los compositores que las idearon años atrás se hubiesen caído de rabo sobre el suelo al escuchar a esta divina soprano, es como para quedarse sin palabras, BRAVO.

One of the first opera recordings that I purchased, ca. 1960 was the complete Lakme, with Mado Robin, tenor Libero De Luca and the superb baritone Jean Borthayre as her father. An idiomatic performance, when the special qualities of the French sound was still a vibrant and living tradition. A very special experience. La cantante del Nulla. Non credo abbia mai capito una parola di ciò che cantava, passava da Lucia a Rosina senza la minima differenza. In lei totalmente assenti il senso del Teatro, il fraseggio, l’interpretazione: tutto era solo una folle corsa verso l’acuto che nulla aggiungeva al brano, anzi riducendolo a un’esibizione da circo.

Assolutamente no. Ha forgiato la sua voce intorno al repertorio italiano, ma rimane la regina del repertorio francese. È un tipo di soprano che sta diventando raro: un soprano COLORATO.

@@classicalmusicreference I know what you mean but I believe you will be raked over the coals for using the phrase “a colored soprano” because there will be those that think you refer to skin color. It is a stratospheric voice but a French one in its pinpoint accuracy and thinnesses and the pronunciation is a joy to hear. The “Doll Song” is always a lot fun.
