This is why for me the show starts on episode 4. Yes I had seen shocking moments in anime before, yes I had even seen a "main character" die before. But episode 4 is a masterpiece because it shows different people reacting to the grief of losing someone they took for granted. Episode 4 is slow, melancholic and most of the time the main characters doesnt even speak to each other because each person needs to deal with their pain differently. I had the same reaction as the "second guy" on this video for episode 3 but episode 4 totally broke me, it was too real. Too real still.

I remember hearing madoka magica was crazy and nothing like it seemed when it came out. But it took me years to watch it. Amalees Magia cover got me to watch it. I remembered seeing part of Mamis' death years ago but didn't actually remember if that makes sense. I thought the show was a fantasy world, but nah. Then I thought Mami was actually going to be evil. But then she dies and the show went ham. Currently Mami is my favorite character and I really think she has one of the coolest powers in all of anime.

The madoka magica anime and the movie rebellion take place in two different universes In the madoka magica anime bebe was like a magical girl (nagisa) but she turned into a witch and basically became a killing machine In rebellion she actually can think logically she felt bad for what she did in the original madoka universe and became friends with mami (and as a bonus she can summon her witch alongside her to fight also known as doppel)
