Kyoko is often depicted "drowning" with Sayaka so that she wouldnt have to die alone. Sayakas witch form is a mermaid. Mermaids are known to drag people under and kill them. Kyokos witch form is a candle. Candles can't go in water without dieing. Also Kyokos witch name is Ophelia. Like Ophelia who drowned in one of the Shakespeare plays. IM DONE

The moment when there's more fucking symbolism in one scene of Madoka than there is in most other shows as a whole. Did you know that the swinging axeblades shadow in Homuras home actually comes closer to her each time we see her inside her home until it reaches her head in a few frames in episode 11? Also: The heavy artillery which homura hid beneath the water to fight Walpurgisnacht with has Studio Shafts Logo on it.

She was shocked because of losing her humanity. In her eyes Kyosuke had 2 girls to choose: another one with soul and the other one without. She saw herself as a walking corpse and couldn't bear a thought of a corpse being hugged or kissed by the boy she loved. She really wanted to confess to him but because of all the self-hatred, Hitomi as a "superior rival" and all the other shit going on, couldn't bring herself to do it. At least that's how I got it. :P

You see, that's the one point where I agree with Kyuubey. Everything that was there before is there in the soul gem, and the body works just fine remotely as long as you don't screw with the connection in order not to feel pain, so I don't get the point in moaning 'Ohhh I'm *_undead_* bluhhh', like if you weren't before then you aren't now, you're just a rock, and not even a gay space rock.

In PMMM: A Different Story, Kyouko defeats Oktavia fast enough to retrieve Oktavia's grief seed and purify Mami's soul gem, which was already on the verge of turning into a grief seed when Kyouko left Mami. And although Kyouko ultimately lost and died, she still had enough power to immediately challenge another witch for a grief seed. So yes, had Kyouko not clung to the false hope that Sayaka could be turned back, she'd have won. Which brings us back to what an asshole Qbey is.

It's often that way. In Oriko Magica, it's shown Mami fighting and killing Charlotte. She said "I would have been in trouble if i wasn't paying attantion" and that's what happened in Madoka Magica. Hannah Small Well, she lied to herself about her motives despite being warned by Mami to consider what she truly wanted. Also it does not help that Kyubey is intentionally so vague when explaining what it means to be a Magical Girl =_=
@Mrdreamleaf10 жыл бұрын
Hannah Small Kyubey admits to Madoka that every single magical girl that has found out has reacted with anger, so even if you agree with its rationalization it is still knowingly holding back information that would effect the initial decision. It reminds me of a scam artist claiming that he/she is not a thief or a liar claiming they only bend the truth. Kyubey is a scam artist that believes that believes that what its doing is fair an necessary regardless of how many people suffer as a result. (Rebellion story spoilers ahead) Kind of ironic that it finally decides that the system is not worth it the moment it gets caught in the cycle it created. But at that point no level of rationalization or logic would work anymore. Kyubey is the one character in this series to truly get what it deserved by the end.
@Mrdreamleaf10 жыл бұрын
Hannah Small ** (Rebellion SPOILERS) ** Homura sure holds it against Kyubey. Normally that would not matter except that now Homura is in charge of the cycle that the Incubators were once on top of and they are now caught in it just as much as the magical girls are. Kyubey sure seemed in an awful hurry to abandon everything the moment Homura took Madokas powers. Do you think it feels understands regret? Probably not in the typical sense, no. But it does understand that things are much worse then before and that the cycle is just as dangerous to them as it was to the girls. If Homura decides to pour all the hatred and despair into Kyubey then the logic does not change from when it did it to the girls. Everything is a result of its own ignorance to the consequence of its actions, and that its pointless to complain. Homura could let the Incubators die out, say screw entropy and Kyubey would have as much right to be bothered by it as the girls did when they discovered the truth about their contracts. If the magical girls were foolish to make wishes, then the incubators were fools to fight against entropy to begin with.

There's a violin playing in her theme and Kyouske plays violin and one of her familiars resembles hitomi. And Oktavia is based on the original fairytale The Little Mermaid, where the mermaid makes a wish to get legs and made a sacrifice for the one she loved but the boy she loved dated someone else instead,at the end of the fairytale she then goes back into the sea and turns into sea foam.

So first of all, Kyoko's witch form has a candle for a head. Now fire cant go into water without drowning. Another thing, Sayaka's witch is a Mermaid. Some mermaids are known to drown people. Also, one of Oktavia's farmiliers is Kyouskei. The one she loved. He is the one playing the orchistral music. And in Kyoko's transformation it shows fire. In Sayaka's it shows water, effecting their witches. A candle, (fire) And a Mermaid. (Water). Thats all.

Sayakas fall is the result of her wanting to carry the burden of being a hero of justice by herself , the burden of being a hero like that , is that you fight alone , you defend love alone, you live alone in other words you accept no help from anyone, in a sense sayaka is very much like mami , except that mami didnt want any of that , she was forced into it , which means that she tried getting help from others ,as she saw herself as an accidental hero who should find help from other , while sayaka would have never accepted that , sinds she saw herself as a destined hero who should carry the burden alone.

Sayaka is one of the characters who suffers the most in the anime. She transforms into a magical girl to get the boy well with the hope he notices her and be together. However she realizes, as a magical girl, that she can't be with him cause her fate is becoming a witch. Besides, her friend Hitomi also fell in love with the guy. These events cause Sayaka being in desperation and eventually transforms into a witch. Her story is very sad, certainly.

Well, yeah, maybe some times she was hurt and had to make choice that she herself don't want to (ed: kill Mami) but soon enough, she will die, unlike Homura, who continue on living just to "save a friend". And compare her suffering to Sayaka, it's still so much better.... Oh, there are Mami and Kyouko too. If you say that Madoka's suffering is worse than theirs, go and read the "MSMM-The difference story" immediately and die from the feels. Well, to sum up, my point is: Yes, Madoka had gone through some depression stuffs, too. But to be honest, she suffered so much less than the others, so I don't feel right saying that Madoka had suffered like others. The knight had to uphold the laws of God and the pursuit of valor, chivalry, and justice. However, after a long history fraught with hardship and conflict, the knight realized in retrospect that nothing was truly upheld on her watch. The truth changed a lot of people. The will to protect seems to remain unchanged after all this time; even in containment, it is still obsessed with the act of protection. All that remains is the hollow pride of a weathered knight. The tenacity of the hero who cannot leave the past behind is a pitiful sight.

I love so much this anime, the history, the characters, the soundtrack/ost (that is absolutely perfect) and I wait attentive the movie. Madoka is the best anime of recent times, and always will be.

I always felt like it was half that Kyouko didn't want Sayaka to be alone and half that she herself wanted to die. She'd discovered the horrible truth of being a magical girl and couldn't cope. So she gave her friend someone to die besides and finally allowed herself to give up.

If I had a nickel for every time something terrible happens to a woman who had relation with a boy that plays the violin, I would have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird it happened twice.

*replies to another old comment* The thing about this show is that it's about the act of equivalent exchange, and it has amazing details put into the show about it. Like how when Homura asks Madoka if she had any grief seeds when they were both to become witches, she gave her Sayaka's grief seed. It's like the act of a Puella Magi becoming a witch is to prevent another Puella Magi from becoming one with it's grief seed.
@sushikat9411 жыл бұрын
Sayaka was the only one dead because she already had turned into a witch. Madoka's wish was to erase all the witches from the world, killing Sayaka in the process. I really wish she could have been saved too, but hey, you can't always save everyone.
This is one of a couple tracks I always imagine playing along side a sword fight with heavy sweaps colliding and whiffing eachother. Other tracks that give me this feeling are Against the Dark Knight from the Fire Emblem series and another one of Yuki Kajura's songs, Green Eyed Session from the Fate Zero OST.

Video in the background is Herbert von Karajan, quoted from Wikipedia: "In 1933 Karajan made his conducting debut at the Salzburg Festival with the Walpurgisnacht Scene in Max Reinhardt's production of Faust." What incredible irony, that or the video maker was incredibly savvy and decided to use Karajan because of this. Either way I applaud this.

Anybody ever wonder if there were different circumstances in the flashback world where Sayaka became a witch and Mami killed Kyoko? Since the barrier was more like an idol concert with Hitomi like familiars as backup dancers instead of the demonic symphony could it have been Sayaka was rejected for Hitomi even without knowing her soul was now inside the gem? Or just burnt her powers out due to lack of grief seeds and jealousy that Hitomi liked the same boy?

This show was by far one of those anime's that left me more frustrated than anything because literally (SPOILERS) I feel like the ending to the show totally demeaned the show itself. It canceled out everything once Madoka became a god and was forgotten, after the entire show was about her turning into a freeking magical girl from the beginning. If anything I was so frustrated and pissed off at that ending.
@Ik40i10 жыл бұрын
Wait until Rebellion comes out. Like, even if everything seemed canceled out, Kyuubeys will always try to find a loophole to do whatever they can to experiment on how they'll reach their goals by using the magical girls. (spoiler) Of course, Madoka became a goddess, and that since Homura told Kyuubey about her memories of it, it wouldn't be surprising that Kyuubey will try to find a way to see if 'Madoka exist' or not, and even if she does, they'll come up with some plan to do expose her or something I dunno, I'm mostly making assumptions here due to the trailers of Rebellion and purpose that Kyuubey has always had in mind from the very beginning.
@MerelWithChoclate10 жыл бұрын

@Mrdreamleaf10 жыл бұрын
Ik40i Any chance you have a source on that? I have not been able to find any official comments on whether or not they will be continuing the series after The Rebellion Story. I am very much interested since it is my favorite anime series atm. In regards to the TV ending and Rebellion story I would say that while many aspects of the TV series had a seemingly depressing ending, it was rather uplifting. Hope is different from happiness, but its still a positive note. The Rebellion story (spoilerish) is the opposite side of the same coin. A lot of aspects of the ending are objectively a good thing, but in return you lose the hope that was presented in the TV series. I like the direct contrast between the two endings.

Oktavia was a new witch, and still rather weak (Sakura cut her arm off relatively easily). My guess is that if she were to fight her seriously, it would be a straightforward victory. So yes, Sakura was holding back, and so she lost.
