when you go into game 2 and you know you're going first, that/s when you side in your traps like anti-spell fragrance and artifact sanctum/ any other relevant hand traps. Also your optimum first turn board ends on sistart, teacher, and a hootcake in defense position (triangle formation to protect your spells) that is unkillable in battle thanks to anjelly plus any traps you're lucky to draw/super poly probs. On your opponent's turn, depending on the situation, you can activate teacher to further protect hootcake (now unkillable in battle and unaffected by monster effects, so goodbye borrelsword otk) and disrupt your opponent's graveyard plays (relevant for salad, orcust, striker, and sometimes thunder dragon - plus a different chain start before they can act) and add back puddingcess (if you don't shuffle back 2 of their gy cards). If your opponent manages to destroy hootcake and/or sistart, you can trigger sistart's effect and/or ticket (protect sistart and get back hootcake too, so you can combo off again next turn) to ss pettingcessoeur plus puddingcess to sistart's zones. if your opponent attacks puddingcess, you get to pop a card and have her back in deck for next turn. so going first isn't the best, but madolche can recover and continue to spam the board most of the time to explode on turn 3. Plus, if you're ever in a pickle where you don't have puddingcess in deck for soeur, you just ss soeur, ss anjelly (level 3 now), then ss any level 4 off of anjelly, overlay into tiaramisu return puddingcess/shuffle your opponent's board. Sorry this was long! I just love this deck so much, and it's getting a lot of success now with a few regional tops last format and some success in tier 2 events recently. @@killme9534 good question.... if you still want to play with Madolches, the newest variant is Ishizu Vern Madolche; other options are Rikka, Crystal Beasts, and maybe Mikanko. Madolches have the most representation rn tho. Unless you play OCG like me, in which case with a Tribrigade meta that belongs to Rikka iirc.

a few hints when playing madolches. 1. Run three of the field spell! pulling your field spell in your opening hand means a free madolche monster in mid combo. Also, you'll thin your deck quite a bit when spamming messenalo with hootcake out, and gives you a chance to shuffle your madolches back into the deck during your third or forth turn if necessary. 2. Be careful when running hand traps. When going first, if you negate your opponent with an ash blossom and get peticessor in hand, you won't be able to special summon her and get your combo off. Your only saving grace here is getting anjelly or hootcake, and you won't always have them. PSY-frames aren't bad for this deck (since they special summon themselves and banish), but I would take Ash out and replace that with Infinite Impermanence. You'll have a little influence if your opponent is going first, and you'll have something to set when going first. Of course, you can recycle your hand traps with the teacher if the field spell is out during your opponent's turn. Effect veiler isn't once per turn, so if you use an effect veiler in hand and use the teacher's effect, you can add the veiler back in hand and have another negate ready. During your opponents turn with the ticket out, you can add pudding back to hand; triggering ticket's effect, and special summoning petingcessor and putting; giving yourself xyz material for next turn without locking yourself into madolche monsters. 3. Give yourself some love and take out extravagance. If you want draw power, run spell book of knowledge. Best girl is a spell caster, and really easy to bring out. That's better than banishing important cards; and knowledge is searchable with secrets if you want to run it. 4. And always; ALWAYS run three called by the grave. Any hand trap can kill your combos, including ghost ogre.

I’ve played this deck since they were originally released, through both good times and bad. I’ve played more engines inside them than I could count. Trick or Treat, invoked pendulumches, MadolStars, brilliant madolche, artifact madolche, dinoches, the list goes on. And after seeing your combo when forced to go first, I nearly cried. Madolche can set up a defense nearly impenetrable with an invincible hootcake (protected off of anjelly and teacher), their link, and said teacher. I’m the thousands of times I’ve opened with that setup, I’ve seen that damn bird removed only a handful of times, it can’t be destroyed by battle, it’s unaffected by monster effects, and both of these protections stay on it even when that cakey boi has his effect negated.

veiler and ash are bad in madolche, play phantazmay and imperm instead, you cant use petingcesseour if you have monsters in gy so use hand traps that dont put monsters in gy, you only want to play 2 hootcake because hes usually a brick, kaijus are among your best of friends so throw some in as they make your otks practically guaranteed. you only really ever use 1 pot of extravagence per duel so i recommend only playing 2 but 3 isnt bad by any means, monster reborn is a mediocre at best in madolche when it summons so much from deck and reborn doesnt actually help its combos that much. while the deck is obscenely good at otking, its also surprisingly good at grinding it out, you play an absurd number of handtraps so your board is generally safe, and you can make tiaramisu to dispatch any and all threats that arent Ultimate Falcon and Full Armor Master. since your most hand reliant combo is a 2 card combo that results in the same play as 1 mageleine, you can afford to play tons of ways to remove problems, making madolche one of the best going second strategies available, falling short of only sky striker. If it suites your fancy, you can play super poly as well, while it kind of conflicts with the deck, super poly+pankratops+anjelly/hootcake, is enough to otk pretty much every deck (not striker, guru, geist, or draco though cuz they make super poly useless) overall the deck has some really great matchups and only really loses when it cant access its combos.

I would argue Phantazmay conflicts about as much. Not with the madolches, but with your other handtraps, since imperm and gamma require you to control no monsters. And I personally have found the room for the gamma package, 3 imperm, 3 ash, because it is sometimes worth the risk, 3 pankra, and two kaijus, with two flexible slots left over, because I'm also running a third hootcake. I run the third just to have as many potential play starters as possible, because you do still get some really jank hands with all those support cards

you cant, Madolche Petincesseour locks you into only madolche monsters for the rest of the turn, which is the largest drawback of the deck. it is also absurdly difficult to put out 4 monsters going first without peting so its not worth playing apollousa. otherwise this would be a going first deck 100%

Also i think you should replace the gamma's with impermanence personally because you lose a garnet and you can do full magileine combo more often. But that's personal opinion i understand that you lose negating monster effects in hand/graveyard. With the amount of handtraps you run, i'd almost say cut the magileine and add Kaiju's.

yes, you NEED both copies of messengelato in almost every combo and your 1 of chateau and ticket are beyond important. but you also need some form of draw power in order to make the deck more consistent because if it doesnt open a starter it just loses.

Banning them both with the current nerfs would make the really bad. The whole idea is recycling widow anchor and having disruption. They already lost 2 drones and 2 kagari. If you ban their 2 best cards on top of it I cannot see this deck being no better than maybe Tindangle. Taking the sails out is honestly an understatement.
