I don't understand why the film was a box office failure. It's funny and cute, it's really nice to watch

i think it was because Madonna was so well known as a pop goddess that it was hard to see her as nikki finn and not Madonna.

It's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Compared to awful comedies that came out decades after, I mean really unfunny ones like Disaster Movies and Meet the Spartans, it's a light screwball comedy. Oh that and Griffin Dunne in it...it was BS what happened to his sister Dominique (The oldest sister in Poltergeist.)...horribly horribly beaten to death by her jealous boyfriend. I feel for that actor, I really do. Awful awful tragedy.

This is not a demo, neither is it the released Silver Screen Single Mix. It's the b-side from the promo 7", the mix is titled Movie House Edit, although it has nothing to do with the full length Movie House Mix from the 12".

The ONLY difference in Madonna's vocals between the original album, and ALL the versions of the single, is in the line in the second verse... "see my point OF VIEW".... please listen out for it if you're a huge fan of her 'early' songs like I am. I remember noticing that difference myself in 1987 when I was 12 and had just bought the cassette of the soundtrack after being used to the 7 and 12" singles I already owned.

This is obviously not a "demo" of the song. A demo is a brief overview of what the song can be and always includes elements that aren't in the final version. This is a premix or remix of the song, after vocals and instruments were recorded. There is a large difference.

I listened to Live To Tell the other day and I recalled the summer of 86. It was a great track with great depth and yet commercial. Who would have known that one day she would follow such a great track with the disgusting MDNA and its cheap production,sound and commercial depth of a "Kids Bop" album?
@dana.15463 жыл бұрын
I agree. I'm a very big fan of Madonna, but MDNA is to me one of the worst albums. The only track i can stand there is Girl Gone Wild, the rest is just below her. This album is a dive quality-wise. A lot of people are critisizing Rebel Heart or Hard Candy but MDNA is so much worse to me. In Rebel Heart she tried things that didn't always worked but it's mostly good. In Hardy Candy too, she wanted to try R'N'B like with Secret in Bedtime Stories a little bit but some songs like The Devil WOuldn't Recognize You or Voices are 100 % Madonna in style. I don't know what people or demographic she wanted to please with MDNA but it completely failed and she almost lost me. And I'm a fan of her since Gambler (1985).

i disagree. I think the difference between madonna today say 90s madonna is that she used to release singles that showed her growth as an artist (eg "bedtime stories," "drowned world"). If she still had that mindset today she'd have released "gang bang" as the first single, and followed it with something like "i'm addicted" or "falling free." If you look at madonna's catalog, MOST albums have mostly good songs, plus a few brilliant ones and a couple of duds. I'd say the same of her recent output
@cjaquilino3 жыл бұрын
I can’t speak on Madonna specifically but it’s genuinely hard to stay on top in pop for decades. Can’t think of many artists that didn’t peter out by their third or (almost certainly) fourth decade. You just get old and tastes change and people wanna hear new music from different people.
@AurumEtAes Жыл бұрын
I definitely think they played it too safe with the MDNA singles choices. They obviously think Turn Up the Radio is a catchy dance pop song, but it just falls completely flat for me. Gimme All Your Luvin sounds so childish compared to previous lead singles. Beautiful Killer is such a great track and releasing Gang Bang (maybe a remix and edit as it takes a long time to build up to a banger) might have made more of an impact. Glorifying gun violence would have generated controversy, but it’s become such a genuine real world concern that the backlash could have been severe. It would have fitted the 90s era of Tarantino movies better, perhaps.

it sounds to me like you are cherry picking elements of different eras and albums to support your view. Live To Tell... yes, amazing song. But it was the only song on True Blue that had real depth (aside from Papa, i guess)... the rest were light pop songs. As for MDNA, Falling Free is one of her deepest songs ever. Orbit's tracks are spectacularly produced (falling, love spent, gang bang). It's certainly not 'cheap' production. Girl Gone Wild could have used a little UMPH but thats it

She's lost that SPICE that made her a megastar. She was the trendsetter and NOW she's a ig follower of the new crap! Madonna singing with Britney would have been like her singing with Rick Astley in the 80's! Such a thing would have been a joke then. At 54 it seems like she's just following whatever cheesy crap is hip in order to stay visible. After ROL she just went downhill with horrible reocords like American Life to MDNA. just filler junk for the dance floor

American Life was ahead of its time and it's now seen as a rather decent album. confessions on a dance floor brought dancing to the mainstream..another album ahead of its time. get it right next time bitch.

American Life was far better lyrically than most of her previous stuff... she was exposing the showbusiness industry (music, movie/Hollywood) as well as the US government

People "hating" Madonna for her looks now, are actually wishing she continued maturing musically - many keep remembering and keeping her charming self, the spontaneity and perfection that were once the winning formula as most of her discography from the 1982-1998 era audibly demonstrates. Wishing that back is of course impossible as artists tend to "know better" and continue to "grow", making decisions which we can either accept or ignore... But yes, even her weakest moments eons back sound superb when compared to what she records now. Can some of you really prefer "Music", "American Life", "Hard Candy", "MDNA" and "Rebel Heart" to "Like a Virgin", "Like a Prayer", "Erotica", "Bedtime Stories" and "Ray Of Light"? If you do, you're also probably thinking botox, not the music. Sorry. Where once there were sparks that keep her best records shining on, the 2000s onwards are a totally mixed bag of albums, to the level of expendable, where most of the time the ingredients just don't gel and Madonna herself sounds like one forced to fit in (especially when on auto-tune). A mere song here and there to keep the memory alive, yes - and of course, the only exception in terms of an album, is "Confessions On the Dance Floor", mainly for its conceptual consistency, to call it a return to form. But from the chilling pop-beauty of "Dear Jessie", "I'll Remember", "Oh Father", "Bad Girl", "Substitute For Love" etc., to the mind-numbing plasticity of "Bitch I'm Madonna"... talk about sad. Because most of what she delivered in the last 18+ years sound stuck in a loop of useless update and competition, especially when it comes to looking up to the newer generation of pop stars whose overblown egos greatly affected Madonna's very own... and "trend" in itself is a lousy word - always was. Yet Madonna once played smart and got away with it to great effect. The earlier videos' storyline (and trademark looks), the production, and in the end the very songs, all stood the test of time, regardless of their 80s / 90s characteristics. Today "the test of time" is something Madonna swept under the rug welcoming us to a forest, where she is just another fake plastic tree.
@mrfrogbutt112 жыл бұрын
Madonna used to be an attractive woman. Thats not the case anymore...she's pretty much become this silicone,wax figure with an obsession of never having to grow irrelevant to whomever is watching. She used to be the trendsetter and now she's just a follower which is really sad...oh, well
@mrfrogbutt112 жыл бұрын
WAKE UP my Ginger snap! Have you NOT notcied that Madonna jas gradually DEvolved into a clone of whats hot right now? Her career post Ray Of Light has soured and to make things worse her choice in music is close to that of 12 yr old. Nicky Minaj on her new album,YUCK! That first weak single off MDNA was just a cheap ripoff from Toni Basil's "Oh, Mickey!" from 1982 and thats a fact! I rather remember Madonna for what she once was and NOT what she fell into. It happens to all the greats
