ηคşтץ She just gave birth to her daughter and also started delving deeper into the teachings of Kabbalah when she started working on the album... not sure if it was the motherhood or Kabbalah that prompted her to delve deeper and write music that’s more spiritual in nature, but I feel like this era triggered a lot of change in Madonna as a person, Madonna as an artist, and Madonna’s soul.

I'm kind of a serious person and for years was a secret Madonna admirer. But I refused to buy any of her albums because it felt like pandering to my more superficial side. After my mother died I left California and traveled with our two small elderly dogs across country, camping along the way in the back of my pick up. One day I walked into a second hand shop in Charleston, South Carolina and found this Madonna album, Ray of Light. I decided to give in and purchase it. As we left Charleston the skies were overcast and soon the rains poured as we drove across state. For hours it rained hard, and all along the way I listened to this Ray of Light album, entranced, soaking up every nuanced note and emotion, as the windshield wipers worked overtime to clear our path forward. It became the soundtrack for our trip. To this day, whenever I hear one of the Ray of Light songs I am immediately transported back to this time and place that echoed Madonna's Drowned World which echoed my sentiments. There are many Madonna songs from various albums that I resonate with, but this entire album will forever hold a special place in my psyche. Nowadays I'm older. I haven't listened to Madonna in years. But tonight this song popped into my head, so I came here to listen to it again. It's like visiting with an old friend you haven't seen for a long time. The memories come back, reminding one of the warmth and love that was shared and sustains . . .

Ray of light as well as most of her discogrphy is unique precisely because she never repeats herself. A Ray of Light 2.0 would sound kinda forced for her. Madonna is loved and cherished by us her true fans we love everything she does and we don't want her to change anything about herself nobody is loved like her if she's talking about her personal life love well as her fans as her true fans we should give her enough love to where things like that could never hurt her heart she's a human being just like you and I she's a genius and she has talent nobody can work that stage like Madonna nobody can make you feel euphoric like she does when you leave her concert feeling you for it for 6 months and everything she does is magic because she may say things and make comments and you may not understand it for a few months and then you'll say well she was right all along where did she get that crystal ball because she thinks before she speaks she thinks things through because she's smart that's where it comes to the difference between her and other entertainers Madonna has the ability to use both side of her brains left and right just like Einstein did she is a female Einstein and that's all there is to it I respect her every little thing she does is truly special and don't think Madame x is her slowing down she has so much more to say she will start speaking and she will speak loud when she's 100 years old until she is done speaking and nobody can stop her she has guts and she has like I said I set up balls that most men in this world will never grow that threatens them heterosexual men of most of them don't like her that's because they're scared of her because she's smarter than they are and she makes them feel uncomfortable because she calls them out for the pigs that they can be at times and they know it and they're ashamed of themselves I have a PhD in psychology believe me I know the thinking of heterosexual men when it comes to Madonna Lady Gaga and other artists they feel threatened and they feel that their masculinity is being threatened by a very strong and powerful woman who has something to say that is important in life when they can't say that themselves and here is a female saying it that threatens them that makes them uncomfortable I didn't take all these years of college and all of these hours and hours in the classroom and I did not write a thesis just for fun I did it to learn human behavior and I'm telling you Madonna has done everything so perfectly it's like she just sat back and she's charmed she has a charmed Life and I'm happy for her remember everything she has she's worked her ass off for that long hours exhaustion and she does it for us the fans we love her she should never feel unloved she should never feel that she traded anything in for fame when her Fame has made such happiness and joy to other people and made them feel good about themselves she's accomplished what she wanted to accomplish in life she has made me feel better about myself through her music in the things that she has said and done and throughout her career so she will always be loved and cherished she did not substitute anything for love if she only knew how much her fans her true friends how much we truly love her and adore her she has enough love to last her 50 lifetimes just from us and we are important to her she does this for us and she works hard for us to entertain us and make us happy thank you Madonna for the music since 1983 when I first discovered you and ignored all the other artists Cyndi lauper all the other ones they did not have your magic I was interested in only you I could see the magic in your eyes and I could hear the magic in your voice in 1983 that summer so I just ignored the other artist at the time and I followed you because you had something to say on that first album and I got the message loud and clear we love you and if you ever feel down and out you just remember how much your fans care about you and how we will travel the globe to see you we are addicted to you because of how you make us feel you make us feel good about ourselves you move our hearts in a way that other people can't other entertainers they can't move our hearts the way you do and make us think about our lives you better our lives following you you are a good example lady no other human woman have I ever known to be famous has been a good example to her fans like you have been you are the best female example I have ever had in my life thank you for that I will never forget you you will never be forgotten in the history of this world we will never have anybody that comes close to you they may be famous and they may have a fan base but they are not you there is only one you one of a kind and they do not have your intelligence things you say sometimes confuse me but then three weeks later I will understand exactly what you mean and think to myself well it's like she has a crystal ball she plans out things and she is not impulsive she says things for a reason and it's always a good reason I have never seen her say or do anything in public that has not benefited other people this woman doesn't have a selfish bone in her body contrary to what you may read in magazines these rags why do you think she doesn't allow that to get under her skin anymore because she Rose above it when I married my husband RJ I wanted to play her music he isn't much of a fan of Madonna or Lady Gaga we are complete opposites that I was allowed to play some songs of hers at our wedding party in NYC on Long island we're not legally married the man that I've been with for 9 years stunningly beautiful with his big blue eyes and his raven black hair that shines like black diamonds and his fair complexion smooth all over my mother said he was a true hunk supermodel material I said come on don't go that far and then I said you're right he is ! My best female friend said he looks like well he's 34 years old she said he looks like a hotter version of a 34-year-old Paul Ryan former speaker of the house ; lol. I said are you crazy I said RJ he makes him look like a troll ! And he TRULY does no offense Paul Ryan 😂 he's a true professional athlete a very important ; soccer player . My husband. Was for years , until he was 28 years old. But he's always had his degree on the side because he was smart enough to know that the soccer thing wasn't going to last forever ! that he worked hard for on the side ,, now he's a chemical engineer. and I don't have to worry about him all the time getting hurt and those rough games but he loved them and I hate that he's not doing it anymore really he misses it but in a way I am relieved .

I think that she will make a great return with her new album. I like the "Music" and "American Life" album. "Music" is for me the better album of those two releases. But I hope that she goes back to the electronic genre of music and experiments with the sound of her music. I hope that she can make a great album. It does not have to be that commercial of an album. It would be interesting if she made some more personal music that came truly from her heart. :)

Rafael Correia honestly, the only song that game close to giving me the same, emotional soul like any song on "Ray Of Light" was "Ghosttown". She had some promise with "Rebel Heart". Here in 2024, after my tumultuous time in New Orleans in the summer leading up to 11-Sept.-2001.I would take holy amounts of LSD, lay down in a comfortable dark room with the surround-sound from this album on repeat. *NOTE:* I do not advocate for the use of hallucinogens outside of a clinical setting but I was youngish and thought I knew better. Luckily the album instilled bits of humility that blessed me. Luckily, those seeds of humility were watered by the experience of life and the tears of loss, growing into a tree of life. Now, each time I listen to this song in particular; it flashes my life before me as I have since done everything she had mentioned in the song; and it all makes me happy because I know that there is no true substitute for love; love and hate permeate the universe as metaphors but the encompassing emotion of love is the love of oneself in the universe; flaws transgressions, prayers, benedictions, and forgiveness.

Such an underrated song in my opinion. One of my favourite songs from Madonna, from her best album. She is truly "The Queen Of Pop". She has experimented with her music almost with every album that she has released. With the "Ray of Light" album she really showed how much emotion that electronic music could bring if the song-lyrics and the production combined well together. A thing that I feel like only David Bowie could match with his Berlin-trilogy from the late 1970`s (look these albums up then you will understand why people got inspired from David Bowies work and why he was a trailblazer in the music industry to). I see Madonnas impact on musical culture up there with Michael Jackson, David Bowie and The Beatles. She is a living legend and she deserves respect for her long and still to this day succesful career. I admire and respect her very much. :)

Yes, I know that as I have followed both Madonna and Lady Gaga´s careers. ;) This is a Madonna video and I´m one of those people that like both Madonna and Lady Gaga, because I like pop-music in general. Also I don´t compare singers with each other as some people do that and the media of cause will always compare artists to each other if they make the same genre of music. The confrontations between the fans of Lady Gaga and Madonna is really a thing of the past, from my point of view. As Lady Gaga respects Madonna, if you pay attention to recent events. If you don´t have anything more to say then why did you write your comment? I was very serious when I wrote my comment. :)

I wonder how many nights Madonna has had like this in her career, just wanting to go out, enjoy life, just like everyone else. Spend time with people as a person, not as Madonna. The part that gets to me most in this video is when she is walking up the stairs alone, sees the maid smiling at her and then smiles back, seeing she might be a potential friend. Then the maid pulls out a camera and takes a picture, with Madonna walking away frustrated. She has been an icon for years and I love her. But I know she wants people to also see the loneliness that stardom can bring.

My ultimate favorite Madonna track. So eloquently written, beautifully sung, and impeccably produced. It is absolute perfection. When I bought the "Ray Of Light" album and listened to it for the first time, I couldn't get passed this song. At first listen and as the song drew to an end, I leaped off the chair over to the CD player and hit the back button to listen to it again, before the CD advanced to the next track "Swim". I was instantly in love with it. It's such a departure from anything I had heard from her before. I cry whenever she performs this song live in concerts. My pub argument is that Ray of Light is the greatest pop album of all time. The moment this art form reached its apogee. Forget what she wears, or who she’s seen with or whatever anyone says: for Madonna it’s always been about the music. And Ray of Light is her definitive statement. It was released on the cusp of the internet exploding the music industry, the media and everything, and so marks the high water mark of the music era which preceded it.
