At this time, Madonna was busy with the charity in Malawi Africa, helping build hospitals and schools for the children, suffering with aids. Orphaned as their parents had died from aids. Madonna herself adopted four of these children. This is her passion project. Madonna has always been a supporter of people with aids, from gays in New York in the 1980s to Africa. Madonna follows and studies all religions. Much is reflected in her artistry.

Knowing madonna, she got to know her dancers, listened to their stories, got inspired, and asked them to tell their story in the show. Madonna likes surrounding herself with worldly people who have experienced life. She grew up Catholic, and her mother and father were very devote. I don't know if the numbers are true or not anymore. Madonna has done her part to help the country of Malawi. Madonna adopted 4 of her 6 children from that country. She also built a high-tech hospital in the country and named it after one of her adopted daughters, Mercy. As always, tho people don't give her credit and focus on whatever negative they can because it's Madonna. She got a lot of heat from the Catholic Church for that cross depiction in the show.

This is just what Madonna does. She raises awareness for the injustice she sees in the world and she actively sets out to do her part in eradicating those injustices. Her Raising Malawi foundation has built schools, hospitals, and orphanages where none existed. She was raised a Catholic and has always used religious iconography in her work. I think because those images are instantly recognizable, always compelling, and grab the viewer's attention. But all the while, she's subverting it and questioning what it all means. She understands that being "religious" doesn't automatically mean you're a good person.

Madonna has always included important messages in her work. Those dancers are dancers booked for the tour, not just for that section. She most likely got to know them and then go inspired by their stories to make that intro before this song. This is also the confessions tour, it’s not necessarily a benefit concert. She just often times tours and always included many different messages that she feels needs to be known around the world, which is why I think her artistic impact has always been important. She doesn’t just speak about it, she is about it

One of my favourite madonna songs. It was used on the soundtrack on one of her first husband Sean Pean movies.

The name of the first two dancers are Daniel 'Cloud' Campos and Sofia Boutella, he was key for Madonna's return in the Reinvention Tour. It is evident that she loves her dancers and let them have their own space and expression during her shows. She stated that at the begining of the especial "I'm going to tell you a secret". This was the second tour for him and the first for her and, I imagine, the dancers had the courage to tell their stories, because they really 'live to tell'

Madonna was raised strictly catholic and her love-hate with religion is a major subject in many pieces of her work.

check out how “social control” comes from the state (the police’s car lights at the end of the dancer’s stories) and from church institution… this is what philosopher Michel Foucault called “Biopower”… check that out and you’ll know that Madonna’s artwork means a lot more than it seems

Madonna's mother was devoutly catholic, and her father was religious and also strict. The digital number display above her head was to represent the sign nailed to the top of the cross rhat read "King of the Jews, " put there by the romans that executed him, while at the same time the timer was representing in real time the number of children who are being orphaned due to AIDS in Malawi. Madonna herself adopted two orphaned children from Malawi, and runs a foundation of her own to rescue more.

I remember watching this concer for the 1st time, I stole this DVD from my cousin, I was supposed to buy it from him, but I never paid for it. #NoRegrets Anyways, I played it on my computer and I was... GAGGED, like truly amazed, and I just can't imagine how it felt to watch it live, to actually be there and see it. This tour really, really left a mark on me.

Hi, Valencia! First time here. Madonna was raised a catholic and throughout her career she has used imagery from that religion to question and provoke thoughts in the audience. This time she caused this blasphemy of being crucified in a glam cross to call attention to the situation in Malawi. Four of her six children were born there. This concert was from a regular tour so she would perform this song every night for months. This was around the time she filed for adoption for the first time, her son David Banda was about 1 years old then. Since adopting him she’s been back to Malawi countless times, she has hosted benefits to build schools and hospitals, and she herself has donated an immense amount of money to care for the people in that country.

Madonna is very close to Africa especially Malawi where she open the Mercy James Hospital for children named after her daughter. Madonna has 6 children. The youngest four she adopted from Afeica. She's a humanitarian who's been fighting for gays and underprivileged. What else is this white woman with a very religious name and upbringing gonna do with her life besides being and icon and artist.
