she is just so classic & mature. "i think i take heat for everything i do"- she knows she gets criticized & beat down about everything she does (career or non career related), & shes choosing not to let it get to her- or make her bitter, angry or annoyed that ppl will & do take jabs at her just for her age, gender & that she is strong. she knows she gets crap & she has accepted that, & instead of hiding away or trying to please- she does what she wants. Inspiration & a very intelligent woman

She knows exactly what she's doing, pushing buttons, being provocative and just being herself. And us fans love it.

Lady Gaga can smoke a joint on stage, but Madonna can't ask people if they've taken E?

Lady gaga actually had associations condamning her after that.

I think Madonna got too much flack for this. I didn't get it before, because I had never been to an EDM event, but after going to a festival I now realize how much the staff looks the other way and practically supports the drug use. They sell water backpacks so people don't overheat or become dehydrated while doing E. They keep the temperature insanely low to prevent overheating. Security will pretty much look the other way if someone lights up a joint, and they barely give you a pat down on the way in. They're only looking for weapons. If people are going to get mad about supporting drug use, they should be mad at the venue. Madonna knew what the deal was and was simply interacting with the crowd.

Again, I stress Madonna's music is pop/club/dance. Her lifestyle is rich diva and sometime movie star. I am not knocking her at all. I watched her videos, movies and listened to her music since the beginning of her career. She and I also come from the same state (Michigan). She is not punk or rock & roll. Those two genres are separate and not related. Google them if you need references. And, don't be fooled by corporate attempts to blend those genres for "artistic purposes".

Her answer for everything is "I was trying to be ironic". It's like "ironic" is the only word she ever learned.
@teamilanamiller97749 жыл бұрын
Obviously it's not. She said plenty of other words in this video. Lmao
@hutch11979 жыл бұрын
TeamIlanaMiller Lmao? Really? I'm making a point that in many interviews, she always explains her actions in a performance/video, etc. that she was making an "ironic" comment. She's stuck on that word.
@skellymom11 жыл бұрын
Not to mention she is not an example of the punk lifestyle now...even if she tried to take a stab of it eons ago and it didn't take. Yes, I did listen to what sounded like a demo album with her singing vocals...it wasn't very good. She does pop/dance much better and it definitely seemed to suit her.
@URDAPILLETAFOREVER11 жыл бұрын

You should, too. Because Breakfast Club was a POP group that Madonna played drums for. Maybe "New Wave" if you really stretch it. Breakfast Club was played in clubs as dance/club music and making it on the "Hot Dance Club Play" Charts. Punk is The Sex Pistols, Corrosion of Conformity, Wendy O Williams, etc...it came over originally from England/UK and hit the US in the late 1970's and early 1980's. It was counterculture and nonconformity-hardly club/pop or dance music.

Bullshit. The journalist is tottally out of the clubbing scene and the crowds that go to such venues. Drugs have always been a "theme" for the clubbing scene, no matter if you are doing drugs or not. He should have been in the bightclubs from the end of the 80s to know that, but he's probably too busy keeping his suits crispy....

Uh, no. She might be trying to reinvent herself to be "punk". But, she is not punk in the English or US sense at all from any generation that invented or tried to reinvent punk. Plus, you don't necessarily try to be punk, you live it. Its a counterculture and fuck the rich and society thing-Madonna's message and trappings don't even scratch that surface. For more info: wiki or google punk subculture...that is if you are too young or mainstream to have lived through the punk era.

This interview reveals how basic he is. Tells us more about him than the subject. A completely terrible interview.
@skellymom11 жыл бұрын
I understand what you are saying. However, she still is not the example of even the rock & roll lifestyle. The work ethic might be the same to succeed-but, the trappings of both genres are still different. Their lifestyles are, too. Understand I dont dislike Madonna. But, I know rock & roll-I am from Detroit and even though Madonna did come from Michigan, she is more well known in the New York/Miami and possibly California Club/Dance/Pop Scene.
@TarantulaCandy6 жыл бұрын
no, you DON'T UNDERSTAND, Madonna is the definition of Rock & Roll. she came to NYC with $35 in her pocket and defied all adversities including a nude scandal and made music/videos which defied the standard of what a female singer could do..all of this while becoming one of the best selling acts of all time. the fact that Madonna managed to be commercial doesn't make her less rock & Roll/Punk..For TRUE rock and roll is not loud guitar sounds and drugs, but how you defy the norm. Madonna is the definition of a bad ass

I used to like her a lot but she totally lost her magic. The last two cd's were terrible. The music videos forgettable. Her best work it's in the past and she's painfully aware of it. So she uses whatever tricks she can to grab headlines. to get attention. But it's old stuff now, she's done it all her life. Nothing feels fresh and authentic anymore with this Madonna.
@johnconstantinemarinakiski81287 жыл бұрын
vamosama - Rebel Heart was awesome! Have you listened to the whole album? There is some brilliant stuff in there. Not many artists can still put out great works of art after 30 some years into their careers. She can.
