I think "The Girlie show" is one of the best live shows of Madonna's career but this one is very underrated and forgotten ... It was the tour with the best scenic artistic proposal because we can appreciate in iconic live performances the great show woman who she is and we can also verify that this was her best era in terms of her vocal quality.

Agree. Her brother Christopher designed and directed the show... too bad they had a falling out. He made this show so fun, so artistic and beautiful to look at... the lighting is spectacular.

The Girlie Show will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first M concert I went to. But personally I love the Confessions Tour because, I loved the COAD album and I saw the show at Wembley arena on one of the nights they were filming the DVD. One of her team came up to us and explained our view would be blocked by a TV camera in front of us. So she escorted us to what she was better seats and were 3 rows from the front of the stage. Closed I had ever seen her in real life. She had obviously been told that we had been moved and I had a distinctive Tee on. The pointed and smiled at me and my mate whenever she was at our side of the stage. She also threw her guitar pick but some girl picked it up and M called her out and told the girl to give it to me! I will never forget that night

This is THE Vogue performance. It took a month for them to finalize and perfect the choreography. The ending was particularly difficult. S&ST is cool, but also a bit overrated. It would be in third place with Re-invention in second. Great look and choreography, plus the opening pose was everything.

my personal opinion for VOGUE tour performances is... 1. Blonde Ambition 2. The Girlie Show 3. MDNA 4. Sticky & Sweet 5. Re-Invention 6. Madame X
@got2bjosh4 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Broun 1. Girlie (completely reworked & the most intricate) > 2. Re-invention (great costumes, poses, refreshed) > 3. Sticky (inspired reworking, less intense, but cool) > 4. Blonde (classic video choreo, intro is the best part) > 5. MDNA (fashion, but not intense) > 6. Rebel (mere interpolation). Haven’t seen Madame X yet.

I never thought much of this version of Vogue but looking back the live arrangement is pretty great. Just wish her backing track didn't drown out her vocals so much. You can only really hear her voice at the beginning. Then again, she almost never sings this song "live," does she?
@gustavonovais58934 жыл бұрын
@@FindingMadonna I think this is the best live arrangement for this song. I love all the performances but this one is THE BEST. About her singing live... on this tour and blond ambition, the final part of the song, after the "rap" is live 100%. But the 1st time she performed it 100% live was on STICKY & SWEET tour (only the rap part was lipsynched) and now on MADAME X tour :)

@FranklySpeaking.4 жыл бұрын
That's not true. The choreography was devised by her dancers & choreo team. After all of the show was put together and finalized, Madonna invited Gene Kelly to come and watch a full run-thru rehearsal of the show, which Mr. Kelly accepted. He told her the show was incredible... he was truly taken aback by the production. I know this for a fact, because I was blessed to work on this tour, and had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Kelly that afternoon. 💗

@@FranklySpeaking. Ah, true. My error. Christopher Ciccone said that Gene did in fact choreograph a number but they didn't feel it incorporated well into the "circus" theme and it was scratched. never made it in. Yes! This VOGUE's version is SICK with the Hindu sounds. The bass you talk about it's played live 😍. In the album version is also present, but here's more "in front". The rest is just perfection, the head pieces, the dancer, choreography, cannot be better. And yes, even though it's a pure club hit, here it's darker -i think it's maybe because of the tribal sounds in the back, and fits perfectly good with EROTICA vibes. Thanks and cheers from Spain!

In June 1990, when I was 26, I attended Madonna's "Blond Ambition" tour at the Capital Center in Landover, Maryland, a Washington, D.C. suburb. It was the best concert I have ever attended (rock, pop, country or R&B)!!! Her performance of "Vogue" (which was only released as a single to radio a few months earlier in March, the same time the awesome black-and-white music video launched on MTV) was the highlight ... where Madonna and her two female backup singers are dressed up like Queen Marie Antoinette in huge curly wigs and huge hoop skirts, and her male backup dancers are the finely dressed boy toys in her royal court boudoir. :-) Such fond and fun memories of going to the concert with my best friend, Jeanne. Madonna and her crew gave the same Marie Antoinette-like performance at the MTV Music Video Awards in September 1990. Here's the video link in case you have never seen it before. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXEiaeNjLdkbKM

On Rain she sings a bit of "Just My Imagination (Running away with me" by The Temptations from 1971. Also after she left the stage they play a bit of "Singing in The Rain" instrumental (Gene Kelly 1952) and of course Madonna's "Rain" again. Looking forward for the rest, loving it so far. Oh and it's 4 parts not just 3 (Madonna concerts are usual all 4 parts). Madonna does leaves a lot of greatest hits outside on all tours. By 1993 she already had 34 UK TOP 10's in less than 10 years career (and most were even TOP 5 Hits - now she even have 34 TOP 3 Hits). The show had to be bigger for her to play only her biggest hits and all other amazing songs would be left out and never played live. Thank God she did not do that. She did left "Bad Girl" single out from the show. The song have an amazing video directed by oscar winning David Fincher (that also did "Express Yourself", "Oh Father" and "Vogue" music videos) before he became a respected movie director. Madonna did performe "Bad Girl" live at SNL once ("Bad Girl" and a much jazzy version of "Fever").
