I get the sense that she's tired of being in the public eye. She wants to continue showing up for her fans, but she's tired of being nitpicked to death by everyone else. There aren't a lot of entertainers who have had to deal with the kind of scrutiny she has, or dealt with it for as long as she has. I think she also doesn't really know how to dial it back in. Most performers of her age have spent the last thirty or forty years developing a small niche of loyal fans, who are happy to buy the occasional album, and maybe see an occasional tour. Madonna has a huge, very diverse fan base, and half of them are rabid. No one buys a Cyndi Lauper or Annie Lenox album and says, "Oh my god, this is the worst album of her career. She's totally over," the way they do with Madonna.

I think trying to stay 20 is the wrong approach. I am 64 and if I had the money and the nerve to get plastic surgery I would be happy to look 50. I don't understand why teeny triangle shape noses with swollen lips (trout pout) is considered pretty along with golf ball cheeks. And the raised up botoxed eyebrows I don't understand that either. When you see a 70 something celebrity with a sharp jawline like a 20 something and extremely white teeth it looks weird. No matter how much plastic surgery you get, older skin is thinner and not as supple. Thin skinned pulled tight is not youthful looking. It makes one look unreal.

Oh, there are plenty of plastic surgeons who aren't scrupulous - especially when a lot of money is involved. A good surgeon will say "no" when it's too much, but celebrities have endless resources and when they want it badly enough, they'll find a "yes." No matter how much surgery you have, your age still shows. In your hands, your chest, your neck. Even on your face. The skin can be pulled, but it still gets that older crepe look that no amount of surgery can hide. Better see these women in person and non photoshopped and you will get a better idea of just how impossible it is to look young forever. And it’s ok, beauty can be found in the old and the young. These videos just intensify the insecurities of women who look at them and obsess about their own aging. Hollywood has done more to cause young girls and women to feel inadequate for very shallow reasons. “ God looks at the heart” A beautiful heart transcends skin.

Funny, though, two of the great female speaking voices which certainly never hurts when you look at a beautiful face and then the voice seals the deal:). If I were Madonna, I would've done just the minimum to preserve my natural features as much as possible without changing the look of my actual face. Her face was so beautiful when she was young. Cher has always been so gorgeous and has made subtle changes that have never taken away from her natural gorgeousness. She has her beautiful mothers’s high cheekbones which keeps her youthful also (I don’t believe she has had a ton done on her face as she hasn’t really needed it). As for Madonna, I feel for her, she is pretty much one giant walking ego and people around her are basically sycophants (she only surrounds herself with those in the background) and I’m sure she would not take no for an answer from conscientious plastic surgeons who likely recommended less work. She is her own worst enemy.

I think she took so much heat for her bad filler usage that she decided to do an extreme lift with implants. What we're seeing today is the result of the major work she had done immediately prior to her Madame X tour where it appears that she was still extremely swollen. She had no down time between the surgery(s) and her public appearances. This is what her face has settled into and it's like a transplant. Her eyebrows are inches from her hairline. I actually think she had another procedure in 2020 be because things appeared to have settled a bit in 2019 . But she has returned to overfilling or had facial fat injection. @@Purplenpinkk I actually think it's more about control than being relevant. People have been trying to write her off since the early 90s, so that's something she's able to deal with to some extent. She knows that being a celebrity means things go up and down, you're in, you're out, and you have to go with it. Watching her looks fade would be, for her, far harder and that she can do something about it in terms of surgical interventions means that it was almost inevitable she would go down this route. I think that surgery is to her now, what exercise used to be for her for several decades; something she does compulsively in order to maintain a sense of control over her life and being.

Look up madonna riding bicycle daily mail and see the picture taken of her by someone in Manhattan - she is wearing a purple jacket - her face is starting to look like the cat lady Jocelyn Wildenstein. She is going to far. To me she did not look like she had the same face as what she is posting on social media. It is so sad to me that she has chosen this route. Sad swan song for a smart, strong, independent, creative, beautiful, woman who was ahead of her time.

She was such a natural beauty - think of her Ray of Light era in her 40s - and I think she would have aged beautifully into her '60s, even minimal procedures would have been OK (pressure is so much for women in pop). But this is extreme. So sad.

The pressure is definitely immense, but it is odd to me that such a strong, independent woman who stuck her middle finger up at most boxes and conventions during every decade of her career would become such a lemming and claim that how she is acting and what she is doing to herself is bucking conventions of aging and what is trendy.

Almost every major contemporary of Madonna’s is dead. She the only major legend of her generation living. Let’s give her mad respect for taking care of herself enough to survive and for still making good music. As for the surgery, yes, I feel it’s a bit overdone now, but it’s her face, her choice. Her face has been looking over done for a good 10 years now. This isn’t her first facelift. And she’s been using way too much filler too. You can’t have 8% body fat and also have fat in your face, at age 60. Madonna also always wears fingerless gloves because her hands (her arms too) are way too veiny. Why, why should he have to do this? Why not just present the faces people are asking about instead of being forced to be 'inclusive' for the sake of not focusing only on women. The women he is discussing put their image, their face, in our faces almost daily, promoting their own beauty, making a career out of it in fact. We can watch them through the years, modify their looks, while many pretend it's just their natural beauty with help from whatever makeup or skincare they are promoting. Plastic surgeons are artists like anyone else and you can certainly see the resemblance amongst celebrities as they all have a certain feline look about them. I do find it sad that a woman such as her feels she needed to cave to societal pressure especially around her looks when it was always something that she prided herself on…not conforming. She got a facelift in her late 40’s, but I think all these most recent pictures are just filters/photoshop bc if you look at her candid footage/behind the scenes where she’s not wearing makeup at all, she looks like she always has for the past couple of years. Lots of a filler and Botox, for sure; I mean her lips and cheeks are more full than they were when she was young. Also she posts pics/videos of herself so often on Insta in these last couple of years that I don’t think she’s had enough downtime to take a break off social media to secretly recover from a facelift even if she had one.
