This is the most visually stimulating video of all times . For me the symbolism ,abstract and subliminal messages go far beyond the sublime. Life , happiness. death, pain and sadness. It is like one of William Shakespeare master pieces. Maybe it reminds me of Romeo and Juliet . Two star crossed lovers that end in tragedy.

my mom used to play this song when I was little. Recently I re-watched FRIENDS, and this song was played in the episode where Rachel found out Ros's feelings. It played at the end of the episode, when Rachel is waiting for Ros in the airport. I instantly recognised the melody and felt some kind of a nostalgic feeling. It's amazing how music can bring back memories.

@LyonsM I'm not saying racism isn't real. But from your original statement, u made it seem like being black and liking a Madonna song is some sort of taboo, lol. And I'm saying that in America, it's portrayed that if you're black, u only listen to r&b, rap, and blues/jazz. And if you're white, u only listen to rock, country, and classical. It's a negative mindset people have in this country, and it's sad. At the end of the day, we are all just different shades of wheat........ but if u cut me, I bleed red, as would u!! That's why I don't feed into this race shit because I know the masses have fed into it because of this countries horrible history and what has happened, but if we keep looking at the past 24/7 and isolating ourselves to those elementary standards how will we progress and make the world a better place?

Most people know Madonna as a dance artist, but she doesn't get nearly enough credit for creating some of the most beautiful and iconic ballads of the 20th AND 21st centuries. This song and video are a perfect example. See Also: Live to Tell, Rain, Crazy for You, I'll Remember, Frozen, You'll See, This Used to be My Playground ..... and the list goes on and on and on and on. Thank You Madonna, for ALL of your masterful contributions to music and culture.

Yes, If we manage to avoid looking at the poor bull dying, especially at the end. Maybe if Hispanics had actually been able to win a real war against the white "gringos" at any time in the last 400+ years, they wouldn't have to take it out on the poor bulls. But from the time of the Spanish Armada through Trafalgar up to the more recent Falklands War, they have gotten completely clobbered by whitey in a fair fight. That's gotta bother them.

Everyone is all about 80s Madonna but 90s Madonna IS REALLY her peak. This song is still her biggest hit single in the US, spending 7 weeks at #1 in 1995. Babyface and his background vocals are excellent as well. 90s Madonna rules, she was so versatile and commanding that decade. She had her best videos, albums and tours that decade and every new album she released in the 90s it seemed she was tackling a new music genre. I mean she started the 90s Voguing and ended the 90s by releasing Ray of Light and being all spiritual and mystical. Such a change

Words can't describe how amazing this song is. I can't fathom how underrated and overlooked the 'Bedtime Stories' album really is and how rarely she performs this song anymore. I don't understand why though when she and Babyface created such a beautiful masterpiece.

I was just thinking this same thing. I'm not your typical Madonna fan but I've loved this song for years and just dove into it again the other day and I can't escape it. Such beauty... Babyface's vocals just kill me

+carlossb Agree on both counts. Other than their AMA live performance together, she could never do a live version with anyone other than Babyface that would do the song justice.

Lyrics Take a bow, the night is over This masquerade is getting older Lights are low, the curtains down There's no one here (There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd) Say your lines but do you feel them Do you mean what you say when there's no one around (no one around) Watching you, watching me, one lonely star (One lonely star you don't know who you are) I've always been in love with you (always with you) I guess you've always known it's true (you know it's true) You took my love for granted, why oh why The show is over, say goodbye Say goodbye (bye bye), say goodbye Make them laugh, it comes so easy When you get to the part Where you're breaking my heart (breaking my heart) Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown (Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown) Wish you well, I cannot stay You deserve an award for the role that you played (role that you played) No more masquerade, you're one lonely star (One lonely star and you don't know who you are) I've always been in love with you (always with you) I guess you've always known it's true (you know it's true) You took my love for granted, why oh why The show is over, say goodbye Say goodbye (bye bye), say goodbye All the world is a stage (world is a stage) And everyone has their part (has their part) But how was I to know which way the story'd go How was I to know you'd break (You'd break, you'd break, you'd break) You'd break my heart I've always been in love with you (I've always been in love with you) Guess you've always known You took my love for granted, why oh why The show is over, say goodbye Say goodbye (bye bye), say goodbye Say goodbye

It was already written by him before madonna came along and had it laying around in his studio. He couldn't get anyone to sing it or didn't know who to give it to, then Madonna picked it up, brush it up, made it better with orchestral arrangement and viola.

It is a midtempo pop ballad written and produced by Madonna and Babyface. "Take a Bow" was developed from this collaboration, after Madonna listened to the beat and the chords of the demo structure of the song. The singer's management called Babyface to set up a meeting and see if they wanted to work together. Once met, both were surprised by their camaraderie and wanted to write songs. Madonna came over to Babyface's house and after a couple of days they came up with two songs. One of them was based on a piece of music composed by Babyface, but he was not sure about its musical direction. He made Madonna listen to the composition, and she found a way to take the song forward.Babyface clarified that "it was just a beat and the chords. From there we collaborated and built it up... I was living in Beverly Hills and I created a little studio in my house, so she came over there to write."] Together they agreed that the first line of the song should be its title, and "Take a Bow" was written. The words were never repeated in the track again.
