Is “overlooked” really the right word? It was a pretty big hit and it was all over the radio when it was released. And as the first single of the album it marked the moment it was clear the Erotica album/SEX book phase didn’t permanently damage her career. It also was the precursor to Take A Bow from the same album which was a major hit (and the single that served to break Carole King’s record for most #1 singles by a female artist).

its the sound of the string instrument marrying her soulful voice that will keep this song eternal. I was too young then to appreciate the video. I thought Madonna has aged... But then came Take A Bow. Years later, I grew older and realized it was a very Stylish video, which Janet Jackson later copied, but in her case she wasnt playing ghetto, she finally became the ghetto that she is. Madonna was just Art and Style but with a very authentic spirit.

This made me understand the purpose of music videos. They are not only a way to hype up a release but also to provide additional context to the lyrical content and message of the song. When I listened to this song I didn’t really understand the message but now I do, that you don’t know everything that makes up a person, that in a world where you can’t be who you want to be the happiest places you can be are inside your own head. And also that you really learn who a person is once they share their true selves with you. It’s quite beautiful. And I love this song even more now. 💟

Her work is timeless in every decade or era..shes always been a visionary beyond many other artists and has and will continue to break the boundaries and open the minds, eyes and hearts of a world that has been repressed and conditioned in the sense of our universal message of love she expresses for all through her art, we can relate and will gravitate towards raw truth and love always and can never deny that!💞✌😎

Even if you mute this video, you can still appreciate it. There is just beauty in every shot. They dont make music videos like this anymore. What we have now are always saturated with candy colors, and overly sexualized. This music video is also about breaking barriers. While RNB is a Black Man's music it is a woman who is performing it. We see African Americans, there is one shot of an Albino African American, we see the performer is married to a Latino dude. But their skin color dont matter because its all shot in black and white
