I did even have to crash it to have my cable damaged, I had "camera error call DJI support" after the first mount and I was very gentle with it (I am used to soldering SMD etc ..). DJI support concluded that it was DOA, just go through the chat they are pretty knowledgeable and quick.

Good point, get a DJI ticket written up in the event of an issue and that’s how you’ll end up with a good fix, in the language understood by DJI ($)

I've had this issue on O3 for a long time , it would get stuck on 15mbps and I would switch to manual and back to get 50mbps. I didnt realise the issue myself until a friend flew my drone and picked up that my goggles were much worse than theirs however it didnt have much effect on range as we could fly in tandem over the same distances.

Can confirm the cable is easy to damage because I damaged mine. I have installed many o3 systems and never had a problem, but the o4 is very touchy. I put in a request to buy a new cable days ago now and have not heard back.

On my googles 3 it does the same. Wen I set it to auto it drops down. To 20mhz . Wen I set to manual and on 40mhz it goes back to 50-60ms

Thank you for this content, Ian. I am the type who are always reluctant to jump to new products. Looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer. I'm glad you pointed people towards filing a support ticket....too many people think that they are going to get proper support there. I'm still trying to figure out if the mods/admins are actual people who are experiencing the language barrier or are they AI as some speculate they are.

I'm not using INAV but I would still really like the ability to use custom font packs. I miss having color HD fonts like are available for the FPV.WTF hack. Some of the icons in the DJI font look like they weren't sure what the data was that is being displayed. Custom font packs would correct that.

Good info. I've hated the G2's since release, so no surprise to hear there are issues. Likely the reason DJI quickly released three other versions immediately after getting G2's on the market. Moral of this story...scrap your Goggles 2 and get the N3's or G3's. Thanks Mads!

As a professional user - I'll be keeping my goggles 2. Maximum compatibility, it works with every system and it's very lightweight and small. Vista, 03, and 04 have their own strengths/weaknesses depending on lighting/needs.

@girenloland maybe??? Haha. HELL NO. I didn’t like the latency and FOV of the G2’s. The newer G3’s fixed some but not all of that and you can tap to look around which is a cool feature. To each his own! V2’s are still my fav for low latency FPV.

Have you seen the issue with video out on the goggles3 with 04 where the video slows down and speeds up when using cosmostreamer. Cosmo is saying 03 had this same issues at first as well. I have posted a video of it in your discord for reference

I had similar behavior with my v2 and an o3 last year. After 1-2 restarts of the drone or glasses I had 50mbit again. But maybe the bug was there too? I'm CE in Germany with wtfos naco/hamfile. Maybe you can check that, Ian.

Interesting. I've been one of the first to test the workaround for INAV to allow recording on arming, looking good that thing, so pretty sure INAV 8 will have it included. But at least O4 allows to disable low power mode and manually set power and channel, actually feels a bit like old analog systems without Smartaudio. Positive side is that it allows to trigger recording whenever you want, and also finally stats are being recorded as we stop recording manually after disarming.

I've also noticed that the o4 antenna connector's lid is not as snug as the o3 was. I've already had my antenna come loose and disconnect..

You've said 'hot glue'. Because of camera getting hot, I think it would be better to use some thermal resistive silicone. TBS has that Kingboxer DX-704 adhesive for antennas. Not sure if it'll work. With other silicone you have to be careful as normal builders silicone are AFAIK corrosive to PCBs.

Confirming the cable issues. I’m sending an O4 Pro back tomorrow. I’ve detached 3 times the cam cable to swap between two builds and now I get a black screen. The cam is connected, but black, I’m sure because if I disconnect the cable I get IMU error. I may have detached 100 times O3 cables and never had an issue. Btw I also checked the pin thoroughly, no evidence of damages. Faulty cable, for sure.

I’m having the same issue on my DJI o4 Pro air units. I noticed it wouldn’t have the same range as my o3 systems and thought it was odd. I went down the rabbit hole and changed antennas thinking it was that. After switching from auto to manual it fixed the issue and stayed locked at 50mbs on my G2 goggles. I am using the FCC and ham file on my goggles. Also I noticed that if you turn on the transmission power to 1200mw that also makes it worse. Oh and one of my air units came with the ribbon cable unplugged from the back.

I have a O4 lite on a Pavo20 build (3S) that has much better range (and stays at 50MB) on Goggles 2 than the bnf Meteor75 O4. Thought it was this channel thing but still getting limited range, maybe the dipole antenna length?

My experience in fcc mode. Goggles 2 with and with out HAM, it sometimes locks at 30mbs. A quick reboot your back to 50! No big deal and most of the time you won’t know it

I fly with DJI goggles Integra, mine are FCC with the hack, and I flew my new Flytimes drone with DJI O4 Pro for the first time today. The Transmission Power is set to auto. The Integra worked normally, giving 50 mbps video bitrate as soon as I armed, and an appropriate bitrate during 8 flights where it only dropped below 50 when I flew behind obstacles to test it, always returning to 50 when I expected it to.

I feel like the firmware is sharing code with the avata somehow, the red flag I get seems to be a problem with gps and the avata too, but fixed by plugging into the app on that model.

In the DJI goggles firmwares updated since April last year, there was a problem of messing up the time stamp. This caused wrong date of the video file. As they failed to fix the bug by all means; instead, DJI updated the firmware and ask you to connect to your phone with GPS simply to synchronize the time stamp across the board.

I've been getting a similar issue in manual mode as well, arms at 50mbps and then drops to 30-33mbps. This is also fluctuating between 30 and 50mbps cause frames to drop and see stuttering in the image. Goggles 2 in ce area with fcc ham file to unlock 3 channels I'm also getting an issue with my 03 unit since updating to include 04. My 03 cameras are now out of focus, osd and everything else is in focus. I thought it was a damaged camera, but then tried one I had used before the upgrade and was fine is also now out of focus as well. 🤷🏼🤷🏼

A friend of mine meets the exact same issue with O4 and G2. But I cannot replicate the problem. I have G2 and O4 in full Auto and it goes to 50mbps when arming. I also reapplied the ham file to make sure, still no issue on my setup 🤔

Hey Ian, I have been flying the O4 with goggles 2 now for a couple of days and I see actually worse signal than O3, not by a lot but it had more frame drops over O3 so maybe a firmware update will fix this. Also 2 out of like 8 videos with the O4 had some issues with stabilizing the footage there were random shakes in the footage even when going slow and in other video this issue did not show. Do you think this can be fixed in the future or is this more like a hardware issue and an oversensitive gyro? I would love to get more of these units but I somehow now lost my trust in it

I just updated goggles 2, and I tried going from manual transmission to auto again and see what happens. When I armed it went to 50mbps as it is supposed to do. I hope after restarting everything it will behave the same. The issue seems to have been resolved, for the avata 2 and goggles 2 at least…

It's activation that sets the region. User should get FCC once activated. They definely will of they connect the fly app

@MadRC I'm not sure the difference in ham vs fcc.. I always have activated via PC, in USA, 20Mhz gets 3 channels, 40mhz gets 1, channel 1, goggles say channel 1 but it's actually 50mbps channel 2. We always have to patch them day 1 with the ham file. (Well 1st day they come fly with me. I be patching everyone).

If you’re in the U.S. ham file just unlocks extra channels for the goggles to use. No idea why there locked behind that file though.

What actually happens if you only connect the air unit O4 PRO via USB and only update it, thereby skipping activation and binding it to the goggle without activation? Maybe this stupidity happened to me. Until then, what DJI says will happen. namely that not all functions are available. Now I wanted to carry out the activation afterwards. But I only get the error message “Activation failed, please try again”. Well, I've been trying again for 3 days. nothing happens except that a new LOG with 100MB is written to the Air unit every time. Can I reset the air unit to factory settings? Or do I have to send in the hardware just because I didn't follow the order for the firmware? Oh well, what else I have to say. DJI can't help me with that either. There are currently no support staff available for the Air unit :D

Only one time have a bug on o3 stuck in low power mode, after 2 or 3 reboot fc connect and disconnect battery the issue solved. Never the same problems

Using Goggles 2 and O4 Pro I can get it to 50Mb/s by using channel 2, but only 30Mb/s when in channel 1 or 3, very odd. All in manual. When selecting channel 2 in 40mhz, then going back to auto I got it to get to 50Mb/s in auto. I'm in CE using HAM file. On the Avata 2 with goggles 2 I have the 16Mb/s issues also, and have since I got it, makes sense I guess aa it's also O4. With that I have to go into manual, 40mhz, then back to auto for every flight
