It’s sad that so much of the fandom refuse to acknowledge how much Lizzie meant to Tommy. They all make it seem like Grace was so much better but honestly she just didn’t live long enough to prove that. Lizzie was with him from the very beginning. He didn’t make it easy on her and she supported him through the hardest times in his life. I don’t understand why there’s so much vitriol against her.

Grace in the short time she was there proved that she is much better than Lizzie or and that she loves Tommy much more, that is why he loves her so much. It's a shame that Lizzie fans made up their own story where Grace is not important to Tommy or the show.

Lizzie was there from the very start, and despite Tommy's bad and unfair treatment towards her, she somehow managed to keep the family together, even when Tommy himself is falling apart. She took good care of the children, while tommy is away battling his own demons. She's the mother that Charles acknowledges, the family loves her, she did everything she can to support Tommy, all while Tommy is bathing himself with the illusions of his dead first wife. She did all that and yet most watchers of the show sees her as the whore she once was. Smh.

A family with gangster needs a wife like that, but not a fairy like grace, and after all that's reality because rather than changing his occupation, Lizzie was with him after every part,even after loosing Ruby, and when Thomas broke the commitment, she couldn't handle the negligence and left to protect her and Charles.

There’s no doubt Tommy loved Lizzie. the point is that he never loved her like he did grace and so in his eyes lizzie never really lived up to her. which is quite tragic when you see the progression of lizzie’s character and how much she has gone and suffered through by being with tommy.

Lizzie has my heart. She literally was the synonym of companionship and dedication. She symbolizes the closest thing a person can take by simply loving someone. She loved Tommy at times when he only attracted hate, she was one of his pillars, she gathered all the remaining pieces of Tommy Shelby so he wouldn't fall apart. SHE was there for him and his family. ❤😢

Grace reminds me of one of the flings when I was younger and I thought that it was love. Lizzie is like the woman in my life now, my true other half and love, who stood by my side in good or bad times and is on an entirely different level. For me, Lizzie was one of the best characters in a great show full of great characters.

Loyalty plays a big part in Tommy's life and Lizzie was always loyal to him and his family Lizzie would have seen him at his worst when he came back from France and was always there for him..When they had a child together the dynamics in their relationship changed. Yes he loved Grace but it doesn't mean he doesn't love Lizzie any less..he'll always keep close to her because of her Loyalty.. why would he want to lose her love and friendship..you can tell there's love there otherwise he wouldn't have left Charlie with her..he trusts her explicitly with the one thing he's got left of Grace. I hoping the film ties up the lose ends with Tommy/Lizzie..they both deserve some peace in their lives and get back to being a couple 💚

I did not dislike Grace, only the pedestal people had placed her upon. I believed people were caught up in Thomas Shelby’s dream of who he could have been along side Grace. He would have left the family business, and would have pursued a legitimate avenue for revenue. He would have been more present in Charles day-to-day activity. Therefore, I believed their investment in Thomas’ ideal self was one of the causes of this division. Now let’s speak about the brutally honest Tommy we had seen him be with Lizzie. To his very core he was a human being with flaws. There was too much weight, of being unfit, being placed on Lizzie for simply accepting Tommy for who he was, and I wonder if the problem people had about her was simply the fact that she was not curated from high society. I read one comment about how Grace saved his life, but Lizzie gave him bullets. I loved the fact that Grace saved him, in the manner that I loved how Lizzie told him to straighten his shit out. They had both loved him, but there were moments when tough love was needed. Lizzie loved Tommy and she would have never wanted him to actually killed himself, let’s try not lose all common rationale

Oh my God, yes! That's exactly it, people don't seem to want to accept that Tommy has remarried. Lizzie was always by Thomas' side, she never even tried to interfere or question the feelings he had about Grace, she always respected him and understood his pain. I believe he loved them both. Different loves, at different times, but he loved them. His love for Grace is unquestionable, it came in a more "overwhelming" way. The closest thing to happiness for him. His love for Lizzie came in the midst of chaos, in the midst of losses, Lizzie was his comfort in the midst of all the suffering. She was there for him, it was a painful love, if I can say so.

I would argue with that: "he would left the family business for Grace". On their wedding Grace wanted his vow, he will leave the dark dealings. Just the next episode he has given the order to burn two of the Changretta restaurants down. He was never to giving up his gengster boss status in Birmingham. And he would have much problem from Grace's charity donations too in the long run among his men (Curly, Charlie, Johnny Dogs). So I think, in the end it may have ended in the rift with Grace too, if Grace would have lived longer. Lizzy always knew about his dark side, and still loved him with that.

Grace was there because she had no luck. She didn't die for Thomas, he tricked Thomas into being shot. It's a curse. Love does not cover all sins. But Thomas was very sad about Graces's death.😂 So Thomas couldn't be rational. He loved Grace enough to forget the woman he loved before going to France and almost lost his son. Other families cursed Thomas. But Lizzie loved everything about him. In fact, Thomas tried to escape from a dangerous situation even in deep sorrow. It's a difference from families fleeing reality, and the only person who remained by Thomas's side was Lizzie when everyone turned their backs on him. It's a shame she wasn't compensated for that love until the end.😂

Yes she probably would have liked them to be more bc she loved him but it's not like she got pregnant on purpose. It takes two to make a child. They even got married off screen wo we don't know how that went down. She always supported Tommy and raised BOTH children as if they were her own. She knew Tommy wasn't faithful and still stayed. The problem was that Tommy couldn't even show her even the minimum of respect because he pulled worse shit on her than just being unfaithful. Like ofc Lizzie would come to resent him over a long period of time. There is only so much a person can take. Tommy resented Lizzie just for being honest with his ass and holding a mirror to his face. While she did support him she was always real with him. He could have left her at any point so no she didn't force shit on him. He did what he wanted anyway and had someone at home raising his kids.

I love the character Thomas Shelby, but I know how to recognize the countless flaws he has. Many fans of the show like to blame others and never Thomas Shelby. The reason the marriage didn't work out was entirely Tommy's, because if there was one person who tried and wanted it to work, that person was LIZZIE SHELBY. SHE was with him on happy days and sad days, SHE took care of his pains and wounds (literally), SHE was an excellent mother and did her best as a wife. Tommy's heart was broken before he went to France..Greta died 💔 When he came back from France..a man broken as was his brothers, it was Lizzie he found solace with,she was his friend and confidante. Tommy loved Grace and when she died..again Tommy went and found solace with Lizzie ..he loved Greta and Lizzie and Grace & May all differently. He trusted Grace and when she broke that trust I think that's why he wouldn't allow Lizzie into his head Tommy always said he could trust Lizzie and that's important to him and his line of work..loyalty to him and the Shelby organisation. Tommy trusted Lizzie with Charlie..that's his link to Grace so must have been hard for him to let him go but he knows Lizzie will love and look after him Lizzie will always be a part of Tommy because of their history and because of Ruby Hopefully the film will tie up lose ends 💚
