ISLE OF SKYE is a legendary landscape photography area and probably the most famous of Scotland. It's filled with iconic and epic locations. You can literally build your entire portfolio here. In this episode we'll visit the Old Sligachan Bridge, Neist Point Lighthouse and the Fairy Pools. I'll talk about composition and settings to capture my photos while I'll guide you around the isle.

I like number 5 the best, the leading lines in the foreground leads you up to the small waterfall and the waterfall leads you up to the mountain in the background. And then you have the interesting rocks on both sides to balance the image and to create more atmosphere.

Really love this series of videos. I found you from your Faroe series and have been enjoying the Scottish set. It's nice to see a different perspective on some very well known locations. The last time I was on Skye I gave the Fairy Pools a miss due to the large numbers of people (despite finding a parking spot) and the crowds at Neist bring back memories!! Thanks for putting together such a fantastic series of videos.

Number 4 is my favourite. I love that you filled the frame in the way you did leading to the point of interest. The water streaks are perfect and it is just so beautifully balanced. It was hard to pick one as they are all really fabulous pics. I have watched this series before and ending up going to the Isle of Skye and hiking/photographing it, and watching this again makes me want to do it all over again. I just love Scotland

The isle is some kind of a miracle - it's so marvellous in all of your shots. It's difficult to single out a most beautiful image, but I can tell your what I particularly liked in several of them - it's the water in the foreground, its texture, especially in No.1, and also the texture of the stones in the same image.

#4 for me. I love the composition, the use of the figure and the texture/movement you have captured in the water. That scene at the lighthouse was crazy, it was like they were all waiting for a movie star to appear. Great that a location is loved by so many people, but for me it takes away from the relaxation of landscape photography - one of the reason I love it so much.

Great job! Love the way that you so unselfishly shared logistic details (albeit highly touristy spots) of locations where you shot. Addition of maps is very helpful. Beyond that, your "seek composition beyond the masses" attitude inspires many, myself included. I love all 6 images, but #4 stands out for me. By adding the lady in the photo added scale and dimension. Foreground details of the textured water flow work so perfectly with the triangular shape of the far away mountain. Simply perfection only MPI can muster! Thanks for sharing (man, those bugs were terrible!).

Brilliant again. Brought back memories. It's been 7 years since I visited Skye. It was July 2010, there was next to no traffic, no tourists and no midges. Times have changed. We stayed at Lower Milovaig, not far from Neist Point. On the road from Dunvegan to Neist Point, you will have passed the Three Chimneys restaurant - had the best meal of my life there. Still can't believe the amount of folk there in your video around Neist Point and the Fairy Pools. Mental! As for my favourite photo, I would have to say either 5 or 6. Love the mood in both of them.

Great stuff, Mads! #5 is my favorite of these images. Here's why: I love the restrained and moody colors and atmosphere; I like the strong leading lines and s-curve formed by the water around the bank in the foreground that brings your eye to the waterfall; there's pleasing texture in the water; finally the mountain has almost a reflection of itself in the triangular shape formed by darker clouds at the top which completes the picture (I presume you accentuated this in post). It feels very balanced. Btw I love that you went to these famous locations and still always try for original work. Your stuff is always very inspiring and gives me lots of ideas for future trips!

Number 4, the human element, scale and composition, together with the tonality makes it the most satisfactory for me.

Another brilliant video ! It’s always a shame when they end haha. 4 and 5 are brilliant !! I love the way the water guides you up through the photos .Having the person in 4 gives the shot something extra which I really like. Great work

#4 I like this composition the best. It’s so full of atmosphere, it’s nearly a complete abstract but the figure in the distance anchors it in reality and gives you a sense of scale. I also would be that surprised to see Smaug flying around that mountain 😝

My favorite is probably number 4. I love the waterfall in the foreground and also the presence of a person in the shot is just perfect. They are all beautiful shots though... Also number 6 is amazing!!

Another awesome video Mads. I think number 5 is my favourite. I love the portrait view and the way the image has so much depth. We visited the pools a few years ago but I never managed to find that location. You have now made me want to re visit. Please keep making these great informative videos.

For me they are all wonderful 6 is my favorite. The water has a wildness or raw feel to it. Being in landscape format lends to a feeling of vast open area. I appreciate how you do this in your videos. It gives us the opportunity to think about what we like in an image. A wonderful teacher you are 👍 Thank you

Stellar stuff here Mads! You really bring these situations to life for those of us who likely won't ever get to visit these places. As far as the pictures this week. Of course they're all fantastic shots. My personal favorites are 3, 4, and 5. I love the color and subject in #3. The leading line in #5 from the foreground into the waterfall with the stunning mountain in the background is just mesmerizing. I think my favorite is #4 though. The lighting in the clouds, the texture and closeness of the water coming off the rock in the foreground, and then the thing that really makes the picture, the person standing in the distance taking it all in. It personalizes the whole scene and gives it a very intimate feeling. Bravo!

Mads. Another epic vlog. No competition, No 4 with Sophie is just so epic. I’m a sucker for placing peeps in photos (sadly I don’t have a Sophie and have to do it myself with a remote), the whole scale thing and that light with the ominous mountain in the background works so well. The textures lines in the foreground sweep you up the image so well. Epic stuff mate! Keep up the fab work.
