Ciao Peter, thank you for your content. I'm going to Sweden, Abisko, for Northern lights. I have two lenses in mind: sony FE 14 1.8 and sony FE 24 1.4, the first for wider angle and the second for lower ISO. Well... any comments? Thank you!

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the Insta360 X4 camera, does a great job of taking 360 pictures in good focus from close to far away, (the crop/blur can be added in post then?) I’m still learning to make the best of this camera hence why I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Fabulous information. I've been shooting for about 45 years now but still love a good informative video. Your explanations are so clear and concise and they help to demystify our craft. We can never stop learning and your photographs are an inspiration. Congratulations mate. Well done.

Thanks for the great and detailed video. I shoot wildlife and once my A7M3 broke, I went for a used A9M1 loved it - but another good deal on a like new used A7RM5 came around and I since then I am completely content with the camera. From focus to picture quality - it's a beast. Sure - it could be faster, but for now - I couldn't be happier.

I suspect the noise/high ISO performance would essentially be identical, assuming you corrected for noise in post as you normally would. The A7rV will have more noise, yes, but will also have more detail. If you adjust the luminance the way you normally would to achieve acceptable noise levels, you’d likely get exactly the same noise as the A1 and maybe still a little more detail.
@koolpep9 сағат бұрын
Since I have DXO Photolab or DXO PureRAW - Noise is no concenr to me anymore, as long as the detail is in the file DXO can recover it and remove noise very elegantly - has been the greatest gamechanger in my photography after using back button focussing LOL

Loving my A7RV and I cancelled the A1II pre-order after watching Gerald Undone's video and also when I saw the price. Here in Norway it costs a kidney.

If you sell your A7RV to finance the A1II it might only cost half a kidney lol.

@@Battlem0nk Haha :D It was my though to sell the A7RV to get the A1II, but the A7RV is so good that I cant get myself to use so much money only to get pre capture, more FPS, an extra button and better Autofocus. The only issue with the A1II is the price. Sony is the Apple of photography.

@@Battlem0nk I dol my wildlife with the A7RM5 - it works, yes could be faster but the amazing focus compensates a lot of downsides.

Sony A1II is an underwhelming update, and it still suffers from viewfinder capping. Why would you want a Full HD viewfinder if it goes back to 480p once the camera has to do something else? I would still choose a used A1 over the A7RV. Noise levels are pretty darn bad on R series. I'm happy with the A7IV, but it would have been perfect if they swapped the mode dial to the left and placed a small specs screen. It saves a lot of battery, even if people say these top right screens are outdated. Words that you only would say if you haven't been in the photography business/serious hobby past 4 years which 90 percent of people owning these kinds of cameras ain't. If I was Sony Alpha CEO i would tell A1 owners to ship their cameras for firmware update and a screen revamp for a small sum.

The 7RV is hands-down the best camera I‘ve ever got my hands on. Coming from an A7II, I was really surprised HOW MUCH better it actually is.

Now, this is what I call a very informative review, you are talking features that are meaningful to make a decision earlier, other your tubers, are just reiterating the obvious without too much meat . Well done !!!, I really enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm for landscape photography, this is what I want to do when I retire.......BTW. that is your favorite lens now for landscape ?, at one point you were using the Tamron 28-200???

I have owned the A1, sold it looking to buy the A1II in the future(now) . But Nah., the A7RV is all I need so i cancelled the pre-order of the A1II. Over half of the specs are firmware updates the A1 should have had.. Sony fanboi since 2010, but skipping this one.

Hi Mads, as always a great video but I hope my thoughts below give a wider perspective. A thought to Sony; I am an A1 owner who suffers from GAS, can afford to up grade and would normally do exactly that but this is my thought process. Trade in my A1 for a new one, likely cost $4.5K, or keep my A1 and buy the Nikon Z8 and potentially migrate to N-Raw, ProRes Raw, 8K 60 fps and great photos with the ability to capture events when not present. Add to that continuous Firmware updates that keep the camera competitive. Sony, users should not even be thinking this after this release. So, my decision is as follows, I will either buy the Z8 or wait for Nikon's next release knowing it will compete but be more cost effective with better video features and photo functionality.

Sony used to be regarded as a camera brand that releases new cameras with revolutionary features and hardware. Often, their releases pull far ahead of their competition, which makes their market share grow. But with this release of the A1ii, I am truly disappointed, the software features could be easily incorporated into the original A1 with a few simple software updates while the hardware upgrades isn't something to write home about. The A1ii looks to be a rushed job that Sony is trying to put out into the market with consumers, including professionals, left feeling that Sony is "milking the cow".

I have the a7r5 and it's philosophy fits in with the kind of composition photography & videography that I do. The extra resolution gives me more cropping & compositional possibilities. The extra speed would be useful if one were photographing complex fast speed kinetics. It is interesting to see how Sony is able to get more out of its sensors in the 2nd edition. It happened with the shift from a7r4 to 5 with several very useful increments. And it is repeated with the A1mk 2

It is lame that you can only shot 1/30th sec max on the composite raw lol. Which reminds me another complaint I have with the Sony cameras. It's great Sony finally implemented focus bracketing shoot and bulb timer that's allow you to shoot more than 30 sec. It all sounds great until I wanted to do a focus bracketing shoot with, say, 120 sec each exposure for nightscape. You can't combine these 2 features together! You can only shoot 30 sec max for focus bracketing. Why?! Nikon had this feature 5 years ago and I've been enjoying it. Why Sony still haven't fixed this bug yet lol. It should be just few line of code changes. Sony please read this lol

Sony had a meteoric rise due to their marketing efforts to make "gee-whiz" features seem important. Their cameras are (mostly) small and uncomfortable to use. Flash sync at shutter speeds that will hardly ever be used. The list goes on. The point is that now Sony is running out of "gee-whiz" features and has lost the Chinese-sponsored bashing of Canon and Nikon.

Best, most practical review I’ve seen. I own the A7RV and A1. I often end up shooting birds and wildlife when I am out on a landscape mission, or when I travel. The A1 is miles ahead of the A7RV for that use, but the A7RV has better landscape features. I already choose the A1 when I know I will be shooting both. Now that those landscape features are incorporated into the A1 II, I will be upgrading, and it is much less likely my A7RV will be in my bag. That said, I do see an appreciable difference with the A7RV when cropping.

Four landscape photography I would not Use anything under forty mega pixels ... cropping more scenes is useless with 24 mps ... The pre caption might be useful for wave photography. But generally speaking, I can see when the wave is going to break.I can't think of anything elsewhere. It's useful for landscape photography. I really wouldn't recommend this camera for landscape photography to be honest. It wouldn't replace my gfx one hundred s ii

I had never seen so many Red colors! The red colors were even visible to the naked eye! It was an awe inspiring experience. We also saw the "flickering" or dancing of the Aurora's as well; it almost looks like looking at a giant camp fire in the sky!
