later madness are ok are a aging adult I are but the early madness had somethng else -maybe going into a digital studio in the 80s did that -many of the bands in that era has sucky melodies, sucky sound, sucky recordings ,saying yes to some recording company because this is all we got and we know we are the best -( which nobody was -they lied thier ass off and ignored the facts) -the same situation are in the gaming industry now -it allabout graphics ( sound) and not the content in which older games exel but you have to have the lates gameengine to appeal to kids

(?)", I don't follow any more. Would be curious to know what this story is about, so if anyone could help me out and transcribe it or sum it up? Terrific footage by the way. I remember when I bought '7' when it came out, the inner sleeve advertised it BUT....how on earth did any people get to see it in 1980/1981?? It wasn't on telly. We didn't have VCRs then....not just yet! To this day I'm still amazed that right at their peak, they decided to go back and play THEMSELVES in their own 'rags to riches' story. Such a weird move! Met Alexei Sayle in the tailors in Carnaby St as he used to get his tonic suits there, I suspect Adrian Edmonson's "Eddie" suit also came from the same stable hehe

A major turning point in my young life. 55 now but only 15 then when the Ska revival came along. As a British born of Jamaican heritage we welcomed choons we grew up on. Madness and the Specials, so many memories.

I first went to Camden Town in 1984 when I became a fan aged 13. It still holds the same excitement for me now as it did then. I grew up on the south side of the Northern line and after discovering the band, my south London roots never seemed to cut the mustard compared to the Holy Trinity of Chalk Farm, Camden Town and Mornington Crescent. Despite my best efforts I never bumped into the band members on their hallowed NW1 turf ( unlike lucky Lee) but it never mattered as in my mind, the tales I gathered would play out as I visited the "nutty" landmarks. This piece is so evocative of those times and strikes such a chord that I cannot express just how happy it makes me feel. I will be at the Roundhouse, just as I have been at Clapham, Hampstead and Central Hall this year. In 1984 I started writing on my pencil case " Be Mad Not Sad" and "Have Guts Be Nuts" I don't have a pencil case any more but I am still a Madness fan. And am likely to be until they put me in the ground. God bless the good ship Madness and all who sail in her - we truly are the chosen ones xxx

This is awesome! I can't imagine what I'd do if I was in Laaaandan taaaan on an afternoon sesh and saw Lee, Chris and Suggs (with a pint!) wandering round, I'd flip me lid. And Woody and Bedders having a bit of a cultural tour with his Barbour jacket and umbrella. Good work fellas.

I've followed Madness for 40 years+ and had the privilege to meet them a couple of times - the first time in a pub in Brixton just before they went on stage to play at Ian Dury's memorial concert at Brixton Academy 16 June 2000, and then when The Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra gig at Boisdale, Canary Wharf on 16 April 2016 was the centre piece of my stag do. They are always so down to earth, approachable and good humoured - - it makes being a fan a special thing
