Madurai Outer Ring Road (MORR) is a proposed highway project that would connect the National Highways in the outskirts of Madurai city, Tamil Nadu, India. The project is intended to ease the traffic congestion in the city by diverting the long-distance vehicular traffic around the city instead of passing through it.
The proposed project involves the construction of a 4-lane road with a total length of 77.3 km. It is expected to connect NH-38 near Natham, NH-85 near Melur, NH-44 near Vadipatti, and NH-38 again near Thuvariman. The project is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is estimated to cost around INR 2,400 crore.
The project is expected to provide better connectivity to the nearby towns and villages, reduce travel time and fuel consumption, and also promote industrial and economic development in the region.
