@shacktfolf2480 I immediately noticed the missing Side Order tracks too but also discovered a reason why. Most songs in the app are based on versions from physical soundtracks (including some that differ from the main game such as Ocarina’s Fire Temple theme being shorter than it’s meant to??). In Japan, “Ordertune” a soundtrack featuring all the post launch Splatoon 3 songs, is set to release 11th December. (So a week and a half away) Nintendo has likely planned to get sales from that soundtrack first and add those versions of the music to the app later. (Hopefully not too much later)

i think the biggest problem with this app for me is that I have other videogame soundtracks and songs I like to listen to that aren’t Nintendo so there’s no point in getting this app just to abandon my existing music playlist and only listen to Nintendo music forever. Nintendo feels like a toxic girlfriend that’s like “you’re not allowed to hang out with your friends, I should be the only one in your life.”

Yeah among other issues this is an inevitability of the app that's getting to me. Even if the app does eventually get to all my favourite niche nintendo music (unlikely. Especially with potential licensing issues with stuff like pmd), it's never going to have, say, katamari or ace attorney or so on, which will be sorely missed when im in a vgm listening mood if i go to this app over youtube. This wouldn't be an issue if Nintendo uploaded their music to Spotify or youtube (in an official capacity/with no takedowns anyways) but alas........

As someone whose most replayed songs aren't from Nintendo I couldn't agree more. Plus there's a few songs that don't come from a specific game, but are associated with a Nintendo game that I listen to all the time like Born to Play (which is the Super Nintendo World song in the trailer), but in this godforsaken app it probably wouldn't be added, cause it's not necessary from a game🙄

yes, I don't plan on listening to most of the soundtracks they have on there. There are just a few that I want to actually be able to listen to that way. If I listen to videogame osts, then mostly from indie games (Hollow Knight, Celeste, Ori, Gris, Hades,...), those are on Spotify. The only Nintendo tracks I want are OOT Gerudo Valley; BotW Hyrule Casle, Revalis' theme, Urbosas' theme, Champions Ballad. Doesn't mean that I don't listen to the other soundtracks, but not frequently enough that the App makes sense. But using the App to listen to like 5 Songs and sometimes a few more, isn't even enough to really make a Playlist. So every time I use the app I leave my display on, to search for another track, meaning I could have just used KZbin. If it were on Spotify I could put them in an actual Playlist.

What’s funny to me is that for some random reason, Kirby Planet Robobot of all games has the entire OST uploaded on Spotify, and I don’t even know if it’s official. No warped sounds, no pitch changes, no speed changes, and credited by the Kirby Sound Team. What?!

You just unlocked a memory for me by showing that parrot mascot. In fact, Nintendo DID have a music player app before on the 3DS! And it was great! Not only did it have that Nintendo charm, but it also had so many cool features like ways to alter the sounds, adding sfx, and even little mini games! I think if they did something like this, it would warrant a dedicated music app for Nintendo music instead of having me wonder “well why didn’t they just put it on Spotify?”

8:02 I feel like this section is why Nintendo left it in the state it is. It feels like NSO when it first came out. At first, it's bad. Kind of greedy. Somehow though with a couple of months and years it becomes something serviceable. Leave very open so A) You let people complain a lot; thus, letting the company know more of the desire of fans B) It can have what is typically big changes, but in this case improvements that can be added that are the improvements people wanted. I don't know. Maybe I'll be wrong. Who knows. That was just a genuine gut feeling I had.

There should be a Nintendo Streaming Service on the Switch 2. All it has are Pokémon Movies/TV, older Nintendo TV shows from the 1990s and 2000s, and the upcoming Nintendo Films.

While I like the idea, I don't think it's a good idea. Would probably make Nintendo switch online skyrocket in price due to the increase in storage. Though, if they partner with Netflix I think that maybe could work. Though the idea reminds me of DC Universe, which failed by not being able to captivate a big enough audience. Then their shows did better elsewhere. Also, pokemon already has that. It's Pokemon TV.

I enjoy the app for what it is right now, but i do hope it gets much better. Haven't had any problems with the app itself, other than the rare occasion where it doesn't load and I have to reopen it. I don't think we have to worry about songs on KZbin being taken down either. They would've been taken down months ago as they tend to do. And I'm curious how they'll handle something like Smash Bros in the future, or if they'll add 3rd party games' soundtracks. *My wishlist:* I want a feature that lets me choose between a high quality version of a song, or how it originally sounded on the console it was on for the older games.

I'd like to see a dynamic and micro personal / shared subjective rating system for each song. example: [song name]: 5 for light and uplifting, 2 trys to hit hard, 4 vocals are good, 4 lyics are dark but empowering, 2 some lyrics are cringe. etc. Im sure a better meta song catagory and meta rating system would evolve from that but thats my idea, though initially it was for rating games and anime epidoes and stuff but i dont see why it couldn't apply to music if done right.

I’ve been using Nintendo music a lot and I love it in general, but I have some criticisms (note that I’m writing as of not watching the video yet): 1: weekly releases. It’s cool to check in each week and see what’s new, but everything other than week 1 is just some random sequel or small game with no banger soundtracks. Why not do a bunch of big games? 2: The target audience is teens like me who grew up on the Wii/ds and the Wii U/3ds. There’s been a lot for wiids fans, but literally only botw and mk8 for us. Where’s literally any 3ds game? And one small nitpick: you can’t make playlists have a unique icon, it’s always the first four songs. It’s just a small thing tho

My biggest problem is the current lack of important games and the messy schedule. I did some math with rough estimates and if they keep releasing one game soundtrack a week, it'll take them about 26 years to go through their first-party history, excluding any upcoming games within the next 26 years. And if they prioritize games like Brain Age to, let's face it, much more important games like idk MARIO 64 for example, then that's just really confusing.

6:14 Actually, so far they've been adding a soundtrack every Tuesday (e.g. once a week). I've had push notifications switched on for this app, so I het notified every week whenever they have added a new one. For instance, last instance they added the soundtrack of Brain Age, the week prior they added F-ZERO X, and the week before that Wii Sports. While not much, it's a VERY consistent schedule.

6:00 if you want to load the songs faster then lower the quality, the problem here is spooling, this is caused by the songs being so large that they take time to load. In other words, the settings are at a higher quality than what you would expect. Balanced isn’t balanced, it’s high quality, lots of data usage. If you want a balanced performance then use data saver. To give an example, on balanced, Nintendo music used 1.7Gb of data in about 6-8 hours of listening. But in the last 7 years that I’ve had Spotify, I’ve used it for about 4000 times longer and it only used 3.9Gb

You suggest some good improvements. The only thing I'll say is that I don't really care about the UI that much, especially since I won't be looking at the app that much once I got my playlists set. What I hate the most about this app is the dripfeed approach to content. So many soundtracks are missing that should have been there at launch, but instead they release a single game soundtrack every week? I find it such a cynical and cheap way to get you to keep coming back to the app.

Not gonna lie, I didn't know much of the services the app brought. But "has playlists based on Nintendo characters" sold it for me mostly. But it deeefinitely needs some improvements like - yknow - *crediting the ones behind the music responsible?*

Nintendo really is the grandpa of the gaming sphere. They make really good food almost all the time, but by god will they do things that either confuse or frustrate you. Like when they don’t get this “fancy new consumer friendly stuff” because the old stuff works just fine (and then proceed to not make their older titles easily available outside of a paid subscription for lots of stuff you don’t want)

As someone who loves listening to video game music and loves Zelda BOTW and ToTK I’m both very happy with the app and extremely pissed. I listen to ToTK soundtrack on KZbin but all of my playlists have been destroyed because Nintendo has been deleting songs from the game from several of the creators I got the music from….. AND THEN THE TOTK SOUNDTRACK ISNT EVEN ON THE APP WTF. I am happy that I now can listen to my BOTW music after my playlists got deleted on KZbin years ago…. But still

I’ve been using this app somewhat regularly besides Soundcloud and KZbin for my VGM. It’s a good app but it does kinda tilt me with the selection. There’s no Big Betrayal in Splatoon 3 nor any Side Order stuff. There’s no Paper Mario, Kirby & the forgotten Land, Miitopia, Fire Emblem Three houses or even Xenoblade (ACTUALLY CRIMINAL NOT TO HAVE ANY XENOBLADE AT LAUNCH) It needs more to be better but for now it’s a nice bonus for NSO.

last time I checked, I think there's one song missing from pokemon scarlet and violet... and all the songs from that game can't be extended... RAAAH
