spectrumlocalb191 I had that for a limited time with Alice Faye, less than a year, because she died in mid 1998, and she first answered me around thanksgiving 1997. I’ve always loved Alice, and for Christmas 97 she sent me a small autographed publicity photo from the 40s. I framed it and I’ve treasured it since. The old stars, many were so appreciative of fans and their letters. I got replies from Art Carney, Joyce Randolph (who was also a great replier), Dick van Dyke, Bob Hope, and Ann Rutherford, to name a few. I would write to stars today, but everyone I like is dead 😂

Beulah, peel me a grape .... Miss West saved Paramount Studios back in the 30's. She was the 2nd highest paid person in country, only next to Randolph Hearst. The first to write, direct, produce and star in her own movies. She went to jail in NYC for refusing to shut down her show for being " too risque." She was the girlfriend of a mobster ( won't say who) that funded the show. Had quite the Black Book of Hollywood lovers. She sued the fan magazine and won. She was robbed at gunpoint for her diamonds while sitting in her car. She owned a 1934 Duesenberg j-370 convertible. When her black chauffer/ lover wasn't allowed into the building where she lived.... she bought the building. Miss West was a force, she didn't hangout with ppl. in Hollywood she had certain friends and family in LA. She was interested in afterlife, seances, and fortunetellers....but she was a studious skeptic of frauds. Miss West was interesting at the very least. So much more about the amazing MaeWest !!!
