What a straightforward no nonsense video . I always knew something didn't sound right when Trimble would demonstrate his examples. Thank you for this .

Instructive and exciting. Fitting for this channel.

I completely agree with what he’s saying. You should have an understanding of how the voice works. You don’t need to know like extreme details about vocal science but you should have a general understanding. It will help you in the long run.

Finally someone is saying the truth about voice and not talking about bullshit.. Grazie mille

The thing that Trimble is saying that I find to be wrong is the idea of not modifying the open A vowel in the passagio. Ken Bozemans explanation regarding the importance of tuning the second formant when singing high notes proves that modifying the A-vowel towards o (as in of) helps the tuning immensely.

Thank you, Joe, for the insightful video! I like your common sense approach. I worked with you twice, at San Diego Opera. You were a fine Valentin and a terrific Amonasro. My good friend (a bass) had many good things to say about studying with Margaret Harshaw, at IU. Was Virginia Zeani a failure as a voice teacher? I'm a huge fan of Zeani. Thank you.

Thank you for letting me know he did Amonasro! Gonna listen to it now. Love that role.

I'd like to hear his opinion on the concept of squillo. On KZbin many people fetishize squillo, but I don't think there is a clear concept of what squillo is and what causes it. As a result there are many people to admire screamers

I’m surprised he didn’t mention Jeremy (Jeremiah) Silver, who is objectively a sexual predator who is also an abuser. Knowing healthy technique only is not enough to save a voice teacher who is engaging in criminal and unprofessional behavior.

Is this that baritone who famously was interpolating high Cs?
@RadamesAida2Operalovers3 жыл бұрын
Yes. He could sing quite high. I think you will find videos of it on his page.

He was very ingolata though. You can hear even here when he does his high note how the voice is overly dark.
@KajiVocals3 жыл бұрын
@@abcdefgh-db1to Yes. I do believe he isn’t a natural dark baritone. Very audible when he speaks in particular. I think he’s an overdarkening high lyric baritone. That being said, I do think he’s excellent regardless.
@RadamesAida2Operalovers3 жыл бұрын
@@abcdefgh-db1to Yes, his voice was always a little thick and ingolata. With bass and Baritones, this happens a lot. They want to get bigger and darker. It is easy to lose the balance and create constrictive actions when trying to achieve this. Hines was the same.

I have downloaded his videos...and listen them often.... His vocal technique comments / insight are pure gold... You tube is full of GARBAGE VOCAL GURUS / MASTER CLASSES.... ******* Let us learn....from those BARITONES that can sing Nessum Dorma and sound BIGGER / LOUDER than tenors....

Hate to be flippant, but this is rather ironic because he was definitely not a baritone but a dramatic tenor singing too woofy throughout his whole career.

Michael Trimble is an excellent singer and his way of conceiving technic is clear and well expressed, the man in the video as my respect, let him rest in peace but I can't subscribe to his caricatural demonstration and the people who follow this like a messiah's speech. To them and the tartuffes so present on KZbin : sing, teach, be happy and don't try to show us a golden truth that make you feel so great when your just common.

I’m not sure what the issue was in this video. As far as I can tell, nothing Joseph Shore said here was factually incorrect at all.
