You're welcome. I don't clean the ones in our cars as often as I should either...

Just for future reference you don’t have to remove the lock tab. You just push the tab down and pull connector off. Nice video! Most people don’t know you should clean it periodically.

It won't be an issue in the future for this car, never did find the clip. I ended up making one. lol

I learned that you don't need to pry off the metal connectors u can simply press them in and it comes off just fine

Helpful Pal, Thank You, .. Surprising how much a 10 mm tool is needed today. Good Filming and explanation! ... Mike.
@BruceLyeg6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike. I don't know what it is about a 10mm that engineers like so much but it certainly seems to be their preferred size lol. I was just looking at your channel, you have some good videos. I drove through Oregon a few years ago on vacation and loved it. Beautiful place. I like your Heeler too, they're very smart dogs.

Thanks, so true, I trained him for bush application, he's invaluable to me in the Wilderness in addition to being a beloved pet. Just back from an exploratory hike in Coastal Range. What a Riot he was at a pond I discovered! Great fishing and scenery. The fishing was Great! Check it out on Instagram: Oregon_Mike_H

Man, those sensors are enough to make you pull your hair out. it seems like there's always a sensor that needs to be replaced. Great work explaining what to do in this particular sensor replacement. thumbs up, Bruce.

I remember when I first started working on cars with an ECM and sensors all over the place. The auto industry thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread "all you'll have to do is hook a computer up to the car and the sensors will tell you what's wrong with it". The problem with that is, nine times out of ten, it's the sensor that's bad! Thanks Don.

Never knew I needed to clean this filter my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe start driving kind of rough today and chugging a bit so I will check that first clean it and go from there thanks for the information
@BruceLyeg Жыл бұрын
Sounds like it’s misfiring. Maybe a bad plug, wire or coil. Do you have a code reader?
@LuciousWeatherby Жыл бұрын
@@BruceLyeg Actually went to AutoZone and had them check the codes and plug 5 is missfiring and for the O2 Sensor, so I think it’s time for a tune up.
@BruceLyeg Жыл бұрын
@@LuciousWeatherby chances are if you replace the plug the O2 sensor code will go away. It likely triggered by the vehicle running too rich because there’s unburnt fuel
@LuciousWeatherby Жыл бұрын
@@BruceLyeg ok thanks going to try that tomorrow will keep you posted

@@BruceLyeg I had a tune up done and also found out the #5 cylinder fuel injector was bad. had that replaced now everything is running smooth. I am still going to clean the MAF filter today. Thanks for all the info.

A tad of lube inside of the boots makes installation easier. Especially on old hard boots.

I clean my MAF too as part of the service. I use electrical components cleaner though. I couldn't find MAF cleaner at the auto stores. They looked at me like I was insane .... 😳😂😂
@BruceLyeg6 жыл бұрын
Electrical component cleaner should be fine. The only reason I mention not to use brake cleaner is because some brake cleaner is chlorinated and leaves a film on the sensor.

If you push the wire clip down it will also release it and you won't have to worry about losing it.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. Question: shouldn't you also spray clean the male & female sides of the connector, while you're at it?

Hello, I followed your direction and it was easy, I have a question though. When I took the sensor of from that thick rubber hose, I've noticed that there's some fluid on the inside of it. It looks like maybe oil but I'm not sure. Can you tell me what might cause that, and maybe how to fix it?
@BruceLyeg3 жыл бұрын
A little bit of oil in the hose is completely normal.

I don't know crap about cars. But today I tried starting my vehicle and doesn't always start and if it does it does seconds or a minute later. And I am wondering if it is cause by a dirty MAF sensor.
@BruceLyeg Жыл бұрын
It’s impossible to say. It could be, but it could also be a lot of things. Is the check engine light on?

Oops - I've been using brake parts cleaner for 20 years , my bad :)
@BruceLyeg6 жыл бұрын
Brake cleaner is usually fine but chlorinated brake cleaner leaves a residue that can interfere with the sensor (or so I was taught).
@K-Riz3144 жыл бұрын
Likewise. Luckily the one I have states that it's non-chlorinated.

Hi Bruce, i have 2012 Santa fe, it started losing power today, probably do mostly 15 miles once or twice a week ! would this be a potential fix ?
@BruceLyeg4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't sound like this would be the problem. Most likely you would notice the engine running rough before you noticed the lack of power. With that little amount of driving, it isn't impossible though. Sounds like somethings getting carbonned up. It's possible the cats might be getting plugged too. Are there any unusual smells when the car's driving? It's tough to say without knowing more about it. Good luck with it! Let me know what it was when you figure it out.
