It's so fucking true. I've tried to finish this game so many times. I've always started from the beginning because i never remember how to properly play and it starts off so strong. But as soon as you start getting into the nitty gritty about territory and who you give it to and who you go after and the cutscenes starts becoming more spaced out, it loses steam and fast. One day I'll finish because the gameplay in terms of combat is pretty great. Just wished it had the pacing of Mafia 1 and 2.

I played it few months ago with Community Mods which improved the gunplay, reduced the grinds, cleaned up the UI and added better color grading and it's a way better experience than the base game it goes from 6/10 to 8/10 also because of reduced grind the story is more streamlined and immersive.

I played game around little after the launch of it. Beat it but wished the game was maybe several hours shorter. They were trying to hit a homerun with this game and be like a gta clone. Hangar 13 should of thought that it wasn't a good idea to grind game repetitively. I love mafia games which is why when they remade mafia 1 helped redeem themselves. I wish the territory you had to defend or have more motivation to attack them and do raid. If vito was main character I wouldn't of minded the grind needed more vito side missions. Was so hyped when I read video game magazines and watched them talk about the map and missions. If it weren't for the music a 10/10 and amazing voice acting and cutscenes I might of not bothered finishing it

I like Mafia 3, it's a fun game with an engaging story and a few very memorable, powerful scenes, the bar massacre etched itself into my brain. People say it's repetitive, but I enjoy the gameplay loop enough for it to not bother me. And the setting is great, they nailed the aesthetics and the general vibe. Edit: I forgot how gruesome takedowns are in this game, jesus christ.

@@latinobunny9882 It's not supposed to be like the original Mafia, that game was set in 1930's Lost Haven, so it reflects how the world was back then. Mafia 3 is set in 1968's New Bordeaux, the world is a very different place in Mafia 3, so why would it, in any way, be like 1930's Lost Haven? The only game that was like the first Mafia is Mafia II as that's set from 1945-1951 and picks up immediately after the end of the first game.

Looking back at it, I think the main reason people were disappointed is because of 2 things: you aren't playing as a mafioso and Vito, whose story felt incomplete following the cliffhanger of 2, is reduced to a side character that you can kill.

Out of all of the things you could say about Mafia 3, the one thing that absolutely nailed for me the open world and this game is like already 5 years old and it might not be greater than Mafia 1 or Mafia 2 because of the well written stories and the authentic setting, realism and the graphics, but this game has a lot of classic cars and excellent radio and side content as Mafia 2 had. And also the Classico suit makes this game 10% better also with the trench drum and revolvers and the setting in this game is really well with the 60’s vibes

One thing that I always loved about this game was the Drifter (Lincoln's cover car). It's based off a 70-71 Ford Torino which is rare enough to see depicted, but adding the GT's hidden headlights just sends it over the top!

I hate it when they say it's repetitive. People expect every TPS to be GTA. I love this game as a stealth fan. Especially when you spend most of the beginning sneaking for a takedown and then when you finally unlock accuracy upgrades and silenced pistols you get to Lincoln's badassery. They only complain about "repetitiveness" because the game devs committed to the actual core gameplay much more than they committed to scripted sequences. It could've shoved way more half-assed open-world overdone mechanics, like every other mediocre AAA TPS is doing nowadays, but they decided to do just a few things and do them good. Just like good games used to be. And it has an amazing story, amazing script and amazing VO that keep you invested and actually make you wanna push on through and give Lincoln and Vito the ending they deserve. This one and Mad Max are the two "repetitive" open world games where the story and the gameplay play so well off of each other that you actually earn the feeling of progress as a player instead of getting bombarded with cheap gimmicks... and both of them are incredibly fun.

Repetition is only a problem if how you go about doing it is boring. Mafia 3's approach to how you go about breaking up the rackets was great. The combat was soooooo satisfying. It's like how in most games you have one really fun and memorable approach to a mission, and you want more, because it's only the time you get to do it that way. (Maybe a reminder 90% through the game.) Mafia 3 made good combat the focus and gave you ample chances to use the system they wanted you to pay attention to.

The presentation of this game was quite original and unique. The whole flashback documentary style. The soundtrack was top notch. The characters were really interesting. The gameplay was a bit subpar compared to those elements but I still had a great time playing the game.

I had this game started and 2 hour into the gameplay on my shelf for over 2 years now. Seeing this video a few weeks ago made me give it a 2nd chance and I don't regret it! The story, the music, the vibe, the city and world design are all great. The gameplay is repetitive but not as annoying as I'd expect, the stealth mechanics make it more fun. Especially since gunfights are a bit bad. Also driving is a bit janky, but overall that's a good experience. I'm around halfway in and I'll definitely finish the story this time around.

I really liked the story and the character of Lincoln Clay, but I recently replayed it and played all 3 DLCs for the first time and “repetitive” is, undeniably, the key feature, even more so that other open world games. It’s all about taking over territories but how you do it is exactly the same: each zone has two bad guys running two different businesses. You run around the zone killing and collecting money until the boss comes out of hiding then you go recruit or kill him. Even Ghost Recon: Wildlands felt more varied in the gameplay although people had many of the same criticisms about repetitiveness. Plus, there’s no fast travel, and that was brutal after awhile even though the music on the three radio stations is top notch.

I mean it’s alright, like… People said when Mafia III released that it’s just GTA V in the 1960s. Even saying that Lincoln Clay is the fusion of Franklin Clinton and The Punisher. But in my opinion the story in the Mafia games is the best highlight. The combat system is heavily reliant on a tactical playstyle on Hard Difficulty since you can die faster than a shotgun blast in Rainbow Six: Siege, but is fun for the challenge. Plus the multiple possible endings is a neat touch considering there hasn’t been a Mafia game set in a later decade yet, which allows the player to choose how they would personally end the series. Really the downside is since I’m a car enthusiast, and I’m especially fond of cars from this decade, that almost every car in the game is a mish mash of several cars made into one. But that’s no big deal breaker. The structure of reclaiming territory is a little too much like Saints Row, but if it works, don’t fix it. Critically, this game features a lot of racism. But if you can look past that, you got a great story with great character growth in Lincoln’s case.

I have never really considered Mafia games true open-world games. They're stories that take place in an open-world settings, so I never judge the games based on how good they are as open-world games. I put in an insane amount of hours in this game for no reason. Took me like 3 years to beat. I like the direction of the racketeering and districts a lot. It’s just really repetitive taking down the districts.

I think they should've made a character switch system with the underbosses where you would assign them to take over a racket. For example, you could assign Vito to the Guns racket in Barclay Mills and Burke to the Garbage racket. Once they've dealt with the boss, the racket is automatically theirs. Lincoln still gets the story missions, though. I'd imagine each underboss would have their own unique skillset, like for example Burke being able to carry extra throwables at the cost of having bad accuracy or Cassandra being able to run faster at the cost of her only being able to carry one gun.

I have played Mafia 1 and 2 multiple times before, but I played Mafia 3 first time only last year. Knowing the previous games pretty well, I have to say Mafia 3 has the best story, dialogue, characters and protagonist, and also the best shooting mechanics.

3 is good, but the tedious gameplay drags it down. I still think the first story is the best overall imo - Mafia Remastered is my favorite overall of the series

I gotta admit - unpopular opinion, I know, but Mafia 3 was the best one. The Mafia 1 remake's open world is a little too stuck into itself. Big and wide open, yes, but with little chance of going off script to explore it, and Mafia 2, well, that one was just a little too small. 3 had the perfect size, perfect amount of freedom to roam, a little repetitive and sparse with side activities, but it made the most of itself. Personally, I'm just more than a little damn impatient wondering when we're going to get a trailer for Mafia 4. It's been MONTHS since the game was announced, and I am hype as can be for its Italy-in-the-1890s setting.

I saw a theory that Lincoln may be Joe's illegitimate son he had while he was away in Mafia II. And honestly, looking at lincoln, especially with his hair in the prologue, i can totally see it. Similar physiques, facial features and hair. Plus, Father James said Lincoln's father may have been Italian

The game was hionestly amazing to me. IT has such a bad reputation, but I guess thats mostly because it is called "mafia". The repetetive missions are actually quite fun, u can either go guns blazing or just be stealthy. Also I like that there are some unique ways to hurt a business, not just "shoot up this place, steal money", for example, you can blow up a crane to hurt an operation. Ill definitely replay this game one day, because it was just really really good to me. 7/10.
