Mafia Boss's Incredible Prison Break: Bed Sheets and Inside Help

A Mafia boss made a daring escape from a maximum-security prison by climbing down a rope ladder made from bed sheets - becoming the first inmate to ever escape prison on an island in the Mediterranean. Let me tell you about it.
The Mob Reporter here with news of Marco Raduano, an Italian Mafia boss who escaped while awaiting trial on murder charges. His escape from Badu 'e Carros, an old-school prison on the island of Sardinia, in the Mediterranean Sea, was on Feb. 24, 2023. Raduano, 39, nicknamed “Pallone,” is man of Sacra Corona Unita, a crime group in southern Italy’s Apulia region. It’s often called the “fourth Mafia,” because it is similar in form to the older and better-known Italian Mafias - the Cosa Nostra of Sicily, ‘Ndrangheta of Calabria and Camorra of Napoli.
Raduano worked in the prison library and spent much of his time watching the movement of guards, memorizing their routine, and planning his break down to the smallest detail. He somehow had a key that got to him out of the maximum-security wing. The rope ladder was made from knotted sheets and was tied down at the top with supports that could sustain his weight. He likely had help inside. On the big day, he presented at the afternoon headcount. He then took advantage of staffing shortages that left the security cameras on the walls completely unmonitored, officials say. So, while the cameras caught the escape, providing this footage, it wasn’t seen until after it was too late. Once in the prison courtyard, he climbed a perimeter fence and likely had someone meeting outside to whisk him away. He had a two-hour head start before guards realized he was gone.
There are calls for immediate fixes at Italy’s prisons. The guards’ union says prison staff across Italy has been reduced by several thousands, including removing sentries from prison walls. Raduano’s base was in Vieste, a picturesque coastal town in an abundantly beautiful area, surrounded by a huge national park.

His rope may have started to come undone somewhere along the line it may have been anchored well but that will put stress on all the knotts and if any was lacking it would have started to or maybe his hands were sweating and lost grip part way down the climb, a big thing with rope climbing is using your feet and if he was just raw dogging with his upper body alone he may have tired very quickly. It all just depends

As already mentioned in the video, many jails in Italy are in poor conditions, with certain areas of some prisons being devoid of modern security equipment, having to still rely on old mid XX century steel doors without centralized electric locks. The situation with prison guards (Penitentiary Police) is also dire, public tenders are few and the spots aren't enough to fill in those that retire or leave, so many jails are left with few guards on duty

Story time: A friend of mine escaped in 2015 with only 6 months left on his sentence. Many speculated as to why he would do something so dang stupid with so little time left. His cousin did just get shot and killed 3 days before and he refused to miss the funeral(he was able to make it to the service). All I know is I received a call saying “Yo manito ! They let me out early. Come pick me up I’m at my girls house” lol.. his birthday was also the next weekend so we went clubbing and partying like crazy OFC cause after 5 years my boy was finally home. After he ended up getting caught. That’s when certain movements he would make and certain paranoias he would have as I was driving us around all started to make sense. He ended up spending around 2 months outside, got 2 females pregnant, we got a bunch of new tattoos. He even bought himself a car(in his girls name). 😂😂😂 all in all, it was a fun time I won’t lie. Not many people even considered the fact that he had escaped. They just accepted that he was now here. They gave him 1 extra year. He got so damn lucky that they only gave him another year for that. He told me afterwards when he was back inside and when we spoke on the phone that he refused to tell me what he had done in case we got caught together because I already have been locked up and he didn’t want them to use that against me saying I was harboring a fugitive so as long as I truly had no idea that he escaped, then i would be good. 😂😂 see criminals have morals too. Ever since he got out in 2016, he’s been doing hella good for himself. Maybe he needed that extra time to truly truly get his mind right cause he was gonna come out even more reckless then before. 😂😂 anyways, ish was wild asf

Some guards family home got a visit. A max sec prison didn’t know someone was missing for two hours ,yet the cctv’s AI fence picked him up instantly and would have sent an alert to their on-site control room that are monitored by guards 24/7. Pablo and El Chapo both did similar escapes.

Pablo built his own prison and basically drove out lol, chapo paid some guards but hit a blind spot and literally had a team of diggers, dig a tunnel underneath his cell with a motorbike in the tunnel. Plus it must be extremely easy to threaten or control guards in Italy, in the US they use some pretty intense and even Braden tactics to get guards. One of them being having people on the outside follow guards home and literally approach them with pouches of tens of thousands and in some cases a duffel bag of cash and if not they just send inmates to beat said guard at his job.
