I wonder if it's just a coincidence or if the game devs took inspiration from this event

This event seems to take inspiration from similar event that took place in 1920s where northside attempted to assassinate Al Capone in similar fashion as to the shooting in the game. Capone was left severely startled and hungry for revenge on those responsible,just as Don Salieri here on Don Morello.

2:52 Just how bad Don Salieri is. he jinxed his savior later on. this eventually drove Tommy rat. Vito Scaletta didn't fare better, he had a fair share of 'betrayed' memories. yet he's a faithful mafioso who chose not to rat anyone out no matter how bad he was jinxed in his young life.
