For those wondering his thoughts on Mafia III, he says that the Italian Mafia would never engage with a black man like with Lincoln Clay, it just defeats the whole point of the Mafia story. The Mafia were racists and xenophobes. He also dislikes how Vito is portrayed, he is like a caricature of his Mafia II character, and that it is not canon in his world. He also said it looks like a generic Ubisoft game.

The mafia engaged with black people, is just the black people could not ascend on the mafia as they will always remain as associated, the cosa nostra was only for Italian and Italians descendants mostly from Sicily, but they did business with whatever race that was what lucky luciano did, he created a enterprise where everyone could work and take part of the cake, but controlled by Italians, they had business with Jewish, blacks etc. But they (Italians) will be the bosses, so yeah what mafia 3 story tells about the business between Sal Marcano and sammy robbinson could happen, Sammy lives on a black community so they need a black figure to rule there.

He's not wrong. Mafia 3 is a 'mafia' game in name alone. Its not a terrible game, its just a terrible mafia game. Its sad the awesome time period won't be used for a proper mafia title unless they reboot and even if that happens it wont be for a long time.

Mafia 3 is definitely an entirely different spin on the franchise. So many people hating on it because of the protagonist (not race bait) and the perspective. Meanwhile, Mafia 3 had the most Mafia-esque gameplay mechanics alongside with the incredible atmosphere and a gangsterous script about family, loyalty and honor. People always so critical if the labels are switched, and I'm all for another italian entry in the series, but Mafia 3 deserves a lot more than it receives.

@@soknheith3259 I agree. It's a different spin on Mafia. Mafia 3 is definitely the weakest but still a pretty good Mafia game. I liked that it was different and I enjoyed the gameplay. Although if it was a shorter game I wouldn't complain. Still, the story, the setting, the gunplay and cars... The main story missions are amazing. For example, the sinking ship is still in my memory to this day and I played it only once. I used to hate it until I finally installed the game and spent few hours in it.

@@soknheith3259 Mafia 3 literally has the less "Mafia-esque" gamplay mechanics of the series. That's literally the main complain most fans had of that game, even bigger than the protagonist and the "side" you are in (even though this ones were also incredible dumb decisions)

@@Spicka-7K- I’m not sure if Dan is implying the fans don’t know what they want but if he was he’d be right I don’t just want a good story which the fans claim to be the biggest selling point of the franchise, but the realistic and compelling gameplay that Mafia 1 had, that Mafia 2 slightly had. Mafia 3 and Mafia Demake ended up becoming more generic shooters with no backbone to the gunplay

@@latinobunny9882 I agree with you. Personally, I'm looking forward to the new installment and would welcome the promised linearity like in Mafia 1 and 2 and Demake. Definitely what I don't want is Lost Heaven again. I'd like to see more Empire Bay in the 20s, but that's 95% not going to happen. At least we'll get the promised Sicily and my guess is that's definitely where the first chapter in Mafia 2 will take place.

You had a ready clip with comments and growing views, but you re-uploaded it without the AI speech experiment after considering your audience feedback and making a correction. Thank you for your comment! Instead of using AI to translate the audio, I realized you guys were right, better to use original audio and just add subtitles. I even added lip-syncing but it looked goofy like others said. The original upload did get more views in the first hours but oh well. It was very time consuming to manually create the subtitles on photoshop. I could have used apps to auto translate but either they’re not accurate or exporting lowers the quality. I need more Czech friends to inform me about anything Mafia related 😅. RafCapone (fellow Czech subscriber) reached out to me and helped me translate this video since I don’t understand anything.

@@matyas_drums Maybe your confusion comes from the auto-translated channel name (and possibly video titles), if you have your browser and specifically KZbin set to Czech language... I don't know what kind of a trend it is to have everything (often badly) automatically translated these days, but it was the main reason why I set everything to English, just so I don't have to deal with awful translations on some specific websites and generally so I avoid any kind of confusion...

@@Mahoromatic As I said elsewhere. Mafia 3 is still a pretty enjoyable game, at least for me. A different spin on the series. I didn't like the lenght of it but I had a very good time playing it, especially the main story missions which are quite original in many ways. Fighting on a sinking ship is probably the best "ship moment" in any Mafia game. The game itself is the weakest in the franchise but I liked the idea of bringing down the entire Marcano family and replacing it with something that I (the player / Lincoln Clay) created. I loved that I wasn't just a pawn of another mobster. I wouldn't left it unsaid. A solid 7/10 for me personally. Also, the music (copyrighted and original) is the strongest aspect of Mafia 3.

@@Efebur He recently talked how he wanted the map to be 3D in the second KCD game when everybody tried to convince him that the original hand drawn maps were a better idea and everybody loved them. He gave in in the end and he presented it as "his victory". Reality is he stubbornly wasted somebody's hundreds of hours of time while everybody told him it was not worth it. Other example is with KCD UI, which is 3D but looks 2D. thats because he forced the designers to make it 3D when everybody told him it cant work cause it will look shit. Well, in the end, it is 3D but you cant tell because it has been toned down significantly.

@@evilphoebus V některých věcech pravdu má a v některých ne, navíc svoje názory prezentuje jako toxický přinasraný hater, sám jsem asi 2h poslouchal tu jeho Jámu pekel, ta forma je extrémně nízko, hejty, osobní útoky, narcismus, prakticky žádná konstruktivní kritika, zdroje často neuvadí, nebo je to nějaký alt-source. A ne jednou se zachoval jako gigantický pokrytec, když třeba hejtil, že klimatická změna má klamné nebo zavádějící zdroje a sám to podkládal svými zdroji z absolutních bullshit webů, nějakých internet forumů a de facto bulváru. Pak mě ještě dorazil tím když kritizoval umlčování/cancelling lidí s jiným názorem a mazal komentáře lidí co ho kritizovali na jeho Facebooku, na to snad vznikla i skupina na FB, ve stylu "byl jsem cancelled D.Vávrou". Ale jeho problém je přesně to, co píšeš a v tom se odráží jeho fans - že věci prezentuje stylem "oni jsou debilové a já mam prostě pravdu a jsem mnohem chytřejší a je to realita a jim se to nelíbí", to je mi giganticky nesympatický. Já mám třeba ke konzervativcům nebo libertariánům respekt, ačkoliv s nimi často nesouhlasím, ale on své oponenty zesměšňuje, dělá si z nich prdel, považuje je za debily a že jeho realita je ta pravda a oni jsou ti tupí nizší libtardi. Takže za jeho gaming kariéru ho cením a followuju, ale když někde vystupuje jako politická/veřejná osoba, tak mi příjde že ho už lidi berou jako takové meme. Ostatně i co znám některé konzervativní/libertariánské figury, tak ho moc nemusí, protože svým přístupem podkopává vůbec respekt/reputaci dané "komunity".

The thing that i agree regarding developing something, like he said, in the end of the day, he is the one that making most of the decision which yeah i agree is for the best to not deviated from what the product is. Try to pleasing everybody and you ended up pleasing no one and that everybody will most likely gonna accepting the direction anyway not because they like it, its mostly because it does make senses to do or add certain way. For me specially, i ended up loving this game for that reason. They do not shy away from just do it and not bending knees.

They should’ve took mafia into the 70s they covered the 20s/30s 40s 50s and late 60s with 3. A move into the 70s would’ve been closer to the original script than taking it suddenly back as a prequel. 70s Vegas ran by the Italian mob in its heyday would’ve been the top of the cake. Mentions of Vito running casinos in new Bordeaux. Paying tribute to the commission, etc and then maybe growing into the final days of the Italian mob in the 80s and 90s and the fall of mob run Vegas.

creative differences I think, the 40s era of Mafia 2 was written by Daniel Vavrva but thr 50s had to be rewritten, so with that some ideas got removed like the game having 4 or 5 different endings

Because Daniel work for 2 years on his version of Mafia 3, but producers cancel it. Then he left and funded Warhorse Studios and made Kingdom Come Deliverance.

@@FordzyS Incorrect. He left the studio during Mafia 2 development. He had already some story of Mafia 3 but nothing of that never came to development. The released Mafia 3 game and even the 2nd half of Mafia 2 were completely out of Daniel's job. He had been working on completely different stories for Mafia 2 and 3.

I just hope they give Mafia The Old Country the right amount of love it deserves. The Mafia series has always been the best in depicting in detail the full environment of the time period it's set in, truly. But look at Mafia Definitive Edition: Tommy, an ordinary cab driver, was just a sad reskin of Lincoln Clay, a vietnam veteran, in all its animations and movesets and this is a shame! And all the cut content also... It was skinned to bones, just a mere "cinematic experience" with a far less deep story and characters and a less engaging gameplay too, which is much more simplified than the original. Don't get me wrong I really hope to see a great game in Mafia The Old Country, but seeing gaming nowadays it all seems just a huge cash grab... who can tell

Somewhere in a different universe, Hangar 13 didn't do the remake and just let Mafia 1 die, and people like you are probably much happier there. I grew up with the original game and i'm grateful to them for making it, you just enjoy hating things.

@@rmngddd Hey man, what I wrote is what I think of the definitive edition as a Mafia player who has played them all and appreciated the deepness of all the details that made the different titles immersive and believable. As far as I'm concerned the environment and vibe of all Mafias is a 10/10, but as you see I can't say the same for the topics I touched regarding Mafia Definitive Edition. I talked about giving Mafia The Old Country the love it deserves because I don't think Mafia DE has received it (for the reasons I wrote in the original comment). I, as you do, want to see the Mafia series be successfull but not just by conforming to the mediocrity of AAA titles these days: pretty graphics, broken content, mediocre stereotyped story and low depth of gameplay (And unfortunately I think Mafia DE sinned in that way). Don't take it too personal, I know there is a lot of people hating because that's all they have, but don't generalize please: I don't enjoy hating on stuff

I honestly do not care about the Mafia series beyond the first game that was released in 2002. Mafia 2 was a massive disappointment for me, and I wrote off the whole series in 2010 when I bought the game on the first day it was released. I will be very surprised in _Mafia the Old Country_ comes anywhere close to the quality of the original game

Na Mafii od Vávry byl vždy dobrý model řízení vozů a dobrý model střelby to si myslím je základ když ty auta budou jezdit jak nfs tak to nikoho bavit nebude to samí střelba. Další je chytlavý příběh. Dnešní hry jdou cestou hra pro všechny a to nemůže být nikdy dobrý.

Well to be fair with mafia 3, no one has MADE the AI for mafia 3 so they still have yet to do that really, as dear god was the AI stupid in that game lol as its rigged up like the AI from the Fistful of Yen Parody of enter the dragon, and he's right, who's going to be writing it, and personally I kinda hate more what they did in the Remake, more than what they did with Mafia 3, like theirs alot of little things they shouldnt have changed, and left in, and it felt like they were trying to write out the original mafia 1, and I'd be curious is that the old guard that left that did that, or the new as that alone will tell me if its worth paying attention to

That's not true, that's what studios believe, but most of people don't care about graphics at all, look at how many people still play WoW and such old games. Gameplay is much more important and you can also play old games with high FPS.

Daniel Vavra sounds like one of the few developers out there who aren't afraid to call out a game or a studio when they make a game in a beloved franchise, and it feels like it doesn't belong, as if they just stamped the franchise's name on a product to sell, but the soul isn't there. Mafia 3 is a good example of it, it doesn't feel like a game from the Mafia series, it feels like a generic sandbox GTA style game, but they had the Mafia IP laying around so they just called it Mafia 3 to hype it up.
