The denial of my rights is not a "difference of opinion".
@Timeskipper-g2n15 сағат бұрын
Exactly. It's so infuriating seeing these people who don't know dick acting like we want everyone to completely 100% agree with every opinion we have. None of my friends do that, nobody's friends do that. But guess what? Some differences are too fundamental to just "agree to disagree".
@luisbernal768912 сағат бұрын
The murder of innocent living human beings is “not a difference of opinion”. You are not understanding where the people that think differently than you do come from. They believe that a fetus is a human living being and not just “something” attached to your body, these people believe that is fundamentally wrong to KILL someone innocent. They don’t want to interfer with ANY of your rights, they just believe they are defending the life of a human being. I am not trying to convince you to think like them, but to understand why they think the way they do. Hope it helps to build bridges instead of departing further ourselves.
@quackenbush72310 сағат бұрын
@@luisbernal7689most of us understand full well what they claim to believe. The issue is they do not stand on those beliefs consistently. If you can take a woman's rights to bodily autonomy in order to save a life but can't have your second amendment rights touched in anyway to help stop school shootings then you have shown it isn't about the child or life. It is about control. If they stand with a party that votes against feeding poor kids at school then it doesn't seem genuine when they claim they care about kids. Also, until they can show some evidence to back their claim, their opinion is not reason enough to disagree with the experts, especially when someone else's rights are involved. Where do they get the idea that life starts at conception? It isn't biblical, that is why the Jewish people do not feel the same way. The Bible says what it says and it doesn't in any way support their stance. So, they disagree with their holy book, they disagree with the science, they vote on how they feel. That is the very reason we don't allow children to vote. It is assumed that adults can put their feelings aside and vote based on evidence, so I have no problem judging those that do not.

@@luisbernal7689 Sure they believe that. Unless they're, y'know, poor foreigners. Or homeless people. Or people protesting for climate action. I know they've convinced themselves that it makes them good people and us bad, but if they spent two seconds examining their own beliefs, they'd see what they're desperately trying to avoid: that fundamentally, it's a defense mechanism. A way to excuse their own failings by telling themselves that the people "on the other side" are worse and that's why they don't have to change anything about their own worldview. THAT is what gets me: the refusal to ever challenge your own worldview or accept ambiguity or unanswered questions. Sure, I'm well aware that people are different and not all pro forced birth people are like that... but let's not kid ourselves: there is a reason why they are so uniquely convinced and insistent on this one topic. You'd think they'd at least have some kind of reservation knowing that embryos don't yet have a brain, aren't capable of thinking or feeling. How are they so sure that "life starts at conception"? I've rarely seen any of them even pose the question, much less attempt to answer it. I'm sure you believe that. What pisses me off is that you're soooo sure of it. On this one topic. When it comes to certain other ones, that's when life is suddenly no longer all that "sacred".

It goes against everything I was raised to believe. My mother is a very religious person, but she never fell for the false profit. She raised me to accepted everyone, even they are different. But also taught me that I don't have to be tolerant of intolerance. Mainly due to the fact, that I grew up being bullied, because my nose was bitten off by a dog and I went through multiple surgeries. I have had to deal with bullies my entire life. Even after public school.
