This makes me miss that magazine. Growing up I would sit and read it all very slowly. The best photos also. I hope you find a way around the smell and feel. TFS

Hi Nicole, glad you survived your first Nat Geo harvest without loosing any fingers!!! You could use the little knife blade to cut the pages out to get a straight edge. Love your videos.Thanks for sharing!

I’ve gotten a handful of vintage National geos from my library when they were still open. They are the best to go they. The ads everything. You really scored finding so many!!
@relaxcutglue4 жыл бұрын
I love all the old images! Especially the ads, that’s the best part. If only they didn’t have that vintage smell. Bleh! But I’ll suffer through it lol! Thank you for watching!🥰

Nichole, the boxes you have the mags stored in, put some newspapers, and or damp rid packs (you can get a bag of them from amazon for cheap) then make sure you close the box and it does help some to absorb the smell/ any dampness of them. I had gotten (a few years back) some old Life magazines and this helped with the smell. Just thought I’d pass it along cause I know it can be annoying. 😉😊

That would suck if you're really allergic to the dusty smell from those magazines. You got some amazing images for your glue book. Great magazine harvest session as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
@kathypallaria14354 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicole. I always look forward to your videos. You could do a glue book with items we don't use or have anymore harvested from the old nat geo magazines like the typewriter etc. Thanks for taking the time to share.

That’s a great idea! I might just have to do that🥰 Thanks for watching!

OMG love that koala, great images, can't wait to see what your new project is you have planned. These are a brilliant find... I find when I'm ripping out old books I think it's the dust the paper gives off while you tear it, it irritates my hands.... If I cut out it doesn't do it so much... Well 1981 turn the 81 around and that was my age then!!! Eeeek!! 🤣🤣😜😜

I think I will start cutting the pages out with my exacto knife...the smell is so gross. I wish I liked the smell of old books but I just don’t. Thank you for watching Elaine🥰🥰🥰

You can take those staples out. Use pliers, open up the end pieces so they are standing straight up and hammer them out
@relaxcutglue4 жыл бұрын
These were in there like nothing I’ve ever seen before! I cut out the part of the video where I took the mags out to the garage and attempted to get them out. I’m just going to slice the pages out with my blade next time.

You need a heavy duty set of pliers. I used to remove them….the staples I mean. Good luck!

I mean’t heavy duty screwdriver! Sorry Nicole.

You need a staple puller. Take it from a former teacher. I don’t know what I would have done without it. Many blessings.

That bird at the beginning on the second magazine. Looks like an old movie. Howard the Duck. It got terrible reviews but my late husband loved it. So stupid it is funny.

Ooh, I was on tenderhooks watching you trying to take those staples out. I have a gizmo called (strangely enough! 😄) a staple remover and it works a treat. Try Amazon or a stationery shop. Alternatively try a screwdriver. I'd like to see you try the Citrasolve, I'm interested in the effect.
@relaxcutglue4 жыл бұрын
The staples are like no other that I’ve seen before! I think I will just slice the pages out with my exacto knife instead. CitraSolv is on order, amd I can’t wait to try it! I’ve always wanted to do that 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

So many fun images, it dang those mags stink! I hate the vintage smell🤢 Thanks for watching friend!🥰
@helensalo98104 жыл бұрын
My mind just kicked up from caffeine,😂 they’re called “moisture absorption” packs. They’re like those pAcks one finds in purses etc. when you buy new. I would stick them between each issue, and maybe some pages. , don’t be stingy, by absorbing the slight dampness (whether you notice it or not, it’s there) the smell leaves. Good luck I HATE musty old smell, too and have actually abandoned some cool books/magazines based on the smell.
@helensalo98104 жыл бұрын
Exactly real close to fold then take out.

This should have said “exacto knife” real close to gold then take out. (Damn fat fingers haven’t been cooperating for shit lately😂)

I just got an idea. It could maybe work. What if we just take a craft knife, slice the spine off of the nasty smelling magazines, then throw just the pages in the dryer with a lovely scented dryer sheet, on the cool setting. Let them tumble in there a while. Now I have to try it!!!!! 🌼

Dr.Nicole, you’re wanted in surgery to put a new nose on that broken statue. I’m allergic to old books and magazines. When I worked in the library, we got a ton of donations including lots of old books and magazines which I sadly couldn’t handle.

See all my answers after others posts. You have to mAke sure they are put in a box you can close, or bags you can ties shut I. e. Garbage bags.oh ya, it won’t happen or night it does take time but with the stash you have you can eliminate a lot of smell before you get to them.
