We used the mini 4.6k on a shoot too. Huge magenta cast on the darker ND's for sure. Glad to see it confirmed somewhere else. Heard that they've fixed it on new models tho which is great to hear because it was otherwise a great cam for the price

Thank you soooo much for this review on the long awaited 4.0 update for the ursa mini 4.6K. Iv'e been on the fence for quite awhile now about the unfortunate magenta cast produced by this camera. I would have pulled the trigger weeks ago but have been patiently waiting for a solid fix on the issue of the magenta color shift. So if i am correct, and please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but with this update consisting of the green/magenta slider and with a good ND/IR filter (out doors), the potential for this camera to become a fully functional professional cinema camera that contests with a RED and even an Alexa has just been made available to all the aspiring cinematographers out there on a budget. Im purchasing my lenses today from B&H and as soon as I get a notice from B&H that the Ursa Mini 4.6K is off of backorder, I will be pulling that trigger and will soon be following my life long passion for film making. Thanks again so so much for all your reviews and may I say that you have just gained another subscriber.

The 4K variant had a green tint which was gone after the 4.0 update. Similar effects as you've shown. Thanks for the tests.

so, what are you shooting the opening on? that looks great, how much work was needed for that? the samples all look like they need work to get decent skintone.
@myvideoversion8 жыл бұрын
The opening was shot on the 4.6K and all I did was add a lut in Premiere.

I have a question. I'm using Adobe on a Windows and it's seeming not to read my files from my 4.6 do you know anything about this?
@myvideoversion8 жыл бұрын
Windows machines from what I understand don't support prores. You need to convert it to dnxhr. Now it looks like they will be adding the ability to shoot natively dnxhr in camera but it isn't available yet.

I guess im confused cause i downloaded the black magic file from the website and I was able to view it but straight from my camera its a no go as of now. I guess I will keep researching. Thanks!

Well, Windows machines support ProRes videos in term of playing them back and also editing on them, but PCs do not have the ability to render in ProRes. However, you can render to similar codecs, like DNxHD/DNxHR and Cineform :)

Játékőrület ll Ebeni the firmware is downloadable from black magic website. If the camera isn't up to date just update it there using the USB port on the camera

Is the light from your talking headshot different than the light from the wide test shot? Also what lens at what settings are you using on both shots? Your skin tone on the talking shot looks okay but almost every shot in the wide shot including the heavy green has magenta highlights in your skin.
@myvideoversion8 жыл бұрын
Same lens same light just different color correction. I added a look to the main shot and just did a basic color balance to the wide shots

Well. I can tell my Ursa 4,6k didn't has magenta cast in with any firmware. So looks like it's a problem of a first party of cameras where we have big % of bad cameras

Yeah that may be true I did get my camera very early but I am glad it's fixed
