This was my first intro to Maggie Rogers. I wasnt listening to any music since my dad and grandfather and 4close friends died the prior year, all within a few months while i was dealing with the progression of my genetic disorder, the same one that killed one of my friends. I stopped my lifetime of dancing and singing and 24hr day music background on. It hurt too much. I skipped all the musical SNL performances when watching the show, and had skipped her earlier song. Im so glad i wasnt paying attention and that this was my first return to music. I wish i could say it completely turned me around, but its too much grief at once. But it started the healing, it gave me moments to really feel moved by music again, the way my soul yearns for. You can see that this music *is her*. Over the years i have done a few dance performances again, when my body lets me, and this song is often the music I perform to, and each time is a memorial to the beloveds i lost. I can’t express my gratitude to Maggie for the strength and determination and deep heart it takes to be a professional musician and musical channeler. Making original music is a feat beyond my comprehension. Never thought id ever be able to see her perform live, of course. But my partner surprised me with her tickets in San Francisco last week. Let me tell you, she is INCREDIBLE live. Her confidence, humor, skill, everything! She’s grown so much over the years and has amazing fortitude. And since then, after all these years where music only came in bits, I have started to want to just listen to music again. Just normal music again. And i couldn’t be more grateful

You can tell at 4:39 that she's still in the song: the audience is clapping and cheering but she's still looking concerned and vulnerable. 4:43? Still in the song. 4:46 she laughs a little to reassure herself and starts to emerge, tentatively. IDK for sure, but that feels like a pretty good indicator of someone REALLY feeling every word they just sang. That's the Maggie Rogers I listen for. Keep at it!

Maggie seems to come from a place than anyone who is attracted to better, healing, honesty, vulnerability can admire. I love everything about her efforts to express herself threw this art. Singed a 48 year old lover of 70s hard rock!
