Everyone is talking about her first note (and rightfully so), but those last notes, without the music, were a spiritual experience. She didn't even know she was on SNL, lost in another world. Pure beauty.

This was my first intro to Maggie Rogers. I wasnt listening to any music since my dad and grandfather and 4close friends died the prior year, all within a few months while i was dealing with the progression of my genetic disorder, the same one that killed one of my friends. I stopped my lifetime of dancing and singing and 24hr day music background on. It hurt too much. I skipped all the musical SNL performances when watching the show, and had skipped her earlier song. Im so glad i wasnt paying attention and that this was my first return to music. I wish i could say it completely turned me around, but its too much grief at once. But it started the healing, it gave me moments to really feel moved by music again, the way my soul yearns for. You can see that this music *is her*. Over the years i have done a few dance performances again, when my body lets me, and this song is often the music I perform to, and each time is a memorial to the beloveds i lost. I can’t express my gratitude to Maggie for the strength and determination and deep heart it takes to be a professional musician and musical channeler. Making original music is a feat beyond my comprehension. Never thought id ever be able to see her perform live, of course. But my partner surprised me with her tickets in San Francisco last week. Let me tell you, she is INCREDIBLE live. Her confidence, humor, skill, everything! She’s grown so much over the years and has amazing fortitude. And since then, after all these years where music only came in bits, I have started to want to just listen to music again. Just normal music again. And i couldn’t be more grateful

That look at the end. Damn. I don’t want to say she looked possessed because of the negative connotation, but maybe more like the music consumed all of her and took over. Idk. But that look of sudden realization at the end, that was something probably pretty indescribable even to her. She’s going to write great things in her life, I just know it.

You can tell at 4:39 that she's still in the song: the audience is clapping and cheering but she's still looking concerned and vulnerable. 4:43? Still in the song. 4:46 she laughs a little to reassure herself and starts to emerge, tentatively. IDK for sure, but that feels like a pretty good indicator of someone REALLY feeling every word they just sang. That's the Maggie Rogers I listen for. Keep at it!

I came across this artist last week after a mention in a New Yorker article . I was just blown away. This song and Don't Forget about me. Just beautiful music and an angelic voice. Thank you Maggie.

She’s so great! I saw her open for HAIM at Redrocks and again here a few weeks ago in Phoenix. She’s SO TALENTED. More people need to be aware of her. Waiting for that album Maggie!!

~Like for LYRICS~ Hold on, I thought that I could take it from here Oh, I thought that I was gone and I'm cleared Now it's getting harder (ooh) Hold on, I thought that I was doing so well Oh, like everything was under a spell Now it's getting harder I never loved you fully in the way I could I fought the current running just the way you would But now I'm in the creek And it's getting harder I'm like falling water Go on and tell me just what I'm supposed to say As if it could be any other way Oh, it's getting louder Go on and tell me just how I could allow All that's light to end up somehow Where it's getting darker I never loved you fully in the way I could I fought the current running just the way you would And now I'm stuck upstream And it's getting harder I'm like falling water, falling water, falling water Mmm mmm And I'm like falling water, set me free You were like falling water coming down on me I never loved you fully in the way I could I fought the current running just the way you would But now I'm in the creek I never gave you everything, I wish I could I should've seen it coming from where you stood But now I'm in the creek And it was coming down on me When i was standing in the creek Oooh oooh ooooh oooh oooooh

This is pure incantation. Gestalt therapy. The voice. Dance in perfect step with the rythmn. Watch her face at the end. She is pure. No artifice, instinct, talent, inspiration.

Maggie seems to come from a place than anyone who is attracted to better, healing, honesty, vulnerability can admire. I love everything about her efforts to express herself threw this art. Singed a 48 year old lover of 70s hard rock!
