I am russian. Could anyone tell me or better say explain me why do you all so hate her? In my childhood we in Soviet Union heard only bad things about her (coal miners' strike, Falkland war etc), but was typical anti-western propaganda. I would like to hear explanation from Irish or English people. I understand she made reforms and reforms are never welcome by ordinary people. BTW we in Russia hate Gorbachev and Yeltsin (we live poorly in their time but they gave us freedom)

Based on what I've read and heard from British people and my parents in Hong Kong, here is a comparison given that you are Russian: Imagine Gorbachev, but aside from bringing democracy to Russians, he spent your countrymen's money to finance a war for Russian support in Africa as well as invading Ukraine. Keep in mind that we are talking about 1992 here. Meanwhile, everyone outside of Moscow is being neglected: coal mines in Tula and near the Ukrainian border and the oil rigs in Khanty-Mansi / Yugra are forced to close. Funding for housing decreases by 70%, so if you are not a wealthy Muscovite oligarch, prepare to become homeless. And if you are sick, well, the hospitals are also defunded because of the African interventions (outside of Moscow, of course). All this is to say that this is one of the few times when your anti-western propaganda was fully correct, with not even a single lie. And this is only a few of the evil things she had done to benefit only the rich. You can easily imagine that the anniversary of her death would be an unofficial public holiday.

I am not sure but it seems to me that the coal extraction is not profitable now. It is cheaper to buy gas and oil than to extract your own coal. Yugra oil and gas are profitable stuff in Russia. If the state donates money to non-profitable business it means these money is taken from other people. I like her words There is no such thing as puboic money, there is only taxpayers money. Many people in russia think we have medical service and old age pension for free but they dont know we pay 30% of salary for it. And average russian man do not live up to pension age of 65. I am not informed about war in Africa. I know about Falkland war only. Argentina started it if Im not mistaken
