When I started watching this channel I was only casually interested in card magic--I've been converted! I purchased the Card College series and Card College Light, Lighter and Lightest and I love them. I've learned a-lot and have improved my card handling abilities. Thanks for reviewing Expert at the Card Table.

Annotated Erdnase is the way to go if you can. It totally demystifies the text.

I have it. About to put it on the shelf for good because I don't speak early turn of the century English. It's impossible to learn from when it seems like a completely different language. Everyone regales this as a viable learning apparatus, but I've spent a week reading it (twice) and I learned more in 30 minutes of KZbin.

Just wanted to add that the publisher of 'Annotated Erdnase' Mike Caveney's Magic Words still shows some available for what it is worth. I just ordered one myself to be on the safe side as this was on my wish list and this reminded me to stop waiting.

I see this is a year old video, but I wanted to thank you for pointing out The Annotated Erdnase which I've been looking for for a while now. I saw it available on Penguin Magic a couple days ago and swiftly picked up a copy. Super excited for it to arrive.

Thanks for the reminder re: Annotated Erdnase, David. I snagged Brent Braun's last copy from J&B Magic Shop for $45, plus a $10 rewards coupon. What a steal! 😃

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this edition. I think I'm not the only one who'd love to hear your views on Erdnase, your theory on whether he was a card cheat or just a magician, as well as what tricks of his are your favourite. I have a copy on my shelf but still can't seem to understand it... that's why I joined Pigcake's academy to start me off

@@magicorthodoxy I get it, but would rather give you a bit for your recommendation, than it all going to jeff lol

@@magicorthodoxy Yeah I've always wondered why you don't tend to include even regular, non-affiliate links for your other videos (or maybe you do and I missed it!). But then I realized that must be tricky because you'd then have to give preference to a specific online retailer, especially if multiple retailers (and even local magic shops) happen to carry that product. Not sure if that's your reason why though haha
@matthewsison34002 жыл бұрын
Case-in-point: I was about to buy this book from Amazon after watching your video, but then I realized maybe I should check with my local magic shop first and support them instead :) lol

Personally i find a lot of these old books extremely dry and difficult to read. Same applies to Expert Card Technique and Royal Road. Older books like these sell on their reputation and not because they are good. If you want to learn the techniques in this book in my opinion there are better more modern books that cover them too that would be a better purchase.
