Skeincocaine heads to Roanoke Va to hang out with her OG knitting bestie, Catiegirlknits. Oh boy, do we ever get in the weeds! This video is 45% blurry in many spots and despite our best efforts with very expensive software to try and fix it… to no avail. It’s either scrap the entire video and plan for a future date to repeat the process… or just roll with it. Gina is a mom and small business owner dyeing yarn in her cluttered garage. Catie is a mom and school teacher at a local highschool. Not cinematographers or filmmakers. So please extend grace to us for doing the best we can with what we have in our arsenal. It’s not easy sharing and putting yourself out there. But we do it ultimately for the love of knitting and the community forth which it brings 🙏🏻
We’d love for you, the viewer, to engage with us in the comment section. It makes it so much more fun when you do!

Loved the kvetching and philosophical/religious discussion, and the camera issues were not terrible. Hiring a housekeeping service was the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time. I can clean, but I’m not great at it. The professionals leave my house literally sparkling and catch a lot of little details that I would overlook. I feel much lighter with so much taken of my to-do list.

I struggled for years to let myself go gray. Finally, did it in 2021 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’m middle-eastern, olive skin and hazel eyes, and had no role models in my life who went gray so…..I did it and it’s awesome! Lots of compliments and so much freedom for me.

Get the sock machine! I’ve had Erlbacher Gearhart for many, many years. It’s wonderful. In the past I’ve done a ribbed sock, heels and toes. I missed the hand knitting portion, so now I do a tube and hand knit the rest. I love it! And you cannot have too many socks. Never.

I'm so glad I read this. I am thinking of getting a sock knitting machine to do the tubes and handknit the rest. I have no knowledge of any of the brands. I still have to research but you seem to love yours so that one check for Erlbacher Gearhart! ....It's either tube all the skeins of fingering weight or give it all away and I'd rather have the socks. I love my yarn!

@@theskeincocaineat one point I had the 72, 60 and 54. But I hardly ever used the 72 and 54 so I sold them and just kept the 60. Besides socks you can also make fingerless mitts and put in an afterthought thumb. I can personally vouch for Erlbacher’s customer service. It is second to no one. Since their inception I have probably owned 5 of them (I know it’s excessive). I sold all but one. She’s a beautiful pink. That’s another thing too. You can pick your color!

@@carolyn_rI promise you won’t regret it! Also fingerless mitts! Someone on Ravelry has come out with a pattern for them just recently. I’m going to start on it tomorrow. For many years I did the entire sock on the machine and there’s nothing wrong with that. I did have the rubber attachment. It’s like anything else it takes patience and practice. I could make a pair of socks in 2 hours.

I spent my life in the Christian world and struggled the whole time with guilt and shame. I'm an out atheist now and more accepting of the imperfection of humanity. The only thing I miss is the community of friends I had as a church member. You guys aren't boring, and the knitting is good. I don't even mind your discussion of Christianity. I get it and have compassion for you. I think the most important value regarding coexisting in a multicultural society, is separation of church and state.

Genesis tells us that we did NOT come from apes. Adam and eve were created. When you study the way our bodies are designed it's incredible. There just isn't any way that happened from a big bang or from evolving from apes. Also, why are there still apes? Why didn't they evolve? It's preposterous. I love your podcast. You're so entertaining and I love that you're questioning things! Your yarn is gorgeous! And I love how generous you are with your friend! You give her so much yarn! What a great friend?!

Evolution is a theory. Only a theory. Not a fact. I believe in micro evolution and natural selection, but it’s too much of a leap that we evolved from apes.

Gina I love that you are so very you with all that comes with it. I enjoy too that you are now a duo. It is easier and and more engaging to talk to a person than just a camera. How are you doing with missing your son? I gave you a big promised hug at Cake Wool in October and you were still teary. It is hard. Keep being you sharing your life and faith and search of how to age well. Your yarn is always fabulous and so are you. I hope that you don’t get too much crap on here for faith discussions because those are the conversations that we all need to have. You are right so simple yet so hard. So many are off track and we all need to get back to the basics. Loving the Lord and each other. Sure wish I could have joined you both for blue tea and a great discussion. Keep knitting and smiling. ❤

Hello ladies, just finished watching this. Love it all! I wanted to address Katie regarding a sock machine. I have an Erlbacher Speedster, have had it 2 years now and I do love it. However, it is technical and it was a big learning curve for me. I am fortunate to live near a small group that meets monthly and met someone who has mentored me....and it took a while! Now I feel very proficient. I can make a sock, complete with a hung hem, a heel and a toe that needs to be kitchenered, all in less than one hour. That is not a tube where I have to add heel and toe later....it is complete! If Katie would like to communicate with me about this, I am happy to answer any questions. Also I do crank tubes for a yarn shop half an hour from my home (there are NO yarn shops in my town). Please keep podcasting....I look forward to seeing both of you again soon.

I agree with you Gina that you really need to check things out before you take anything. I had this happen to me years ago when a nurse practitioner asked me what worked at a horrid time in my life …. neither she nor I researched long term issues so have been told in recent years that I have been on it for so long that it would be impossible to get away from it. At my age, it really doesn’t matter, but it does make me angry that she didn’t know what she was prescribing. And I was not in a place to even think about researching anything at that moment. I highly recommend the B a c h flower remedies instead.

Have loved your podcast for years, as well as your great recommendations for books and shows to watch. ❣️ Gina, you are stunning and if I looked like you I would be thrilled. As a seventy year old, I wish that people weren't afraid of aging naturally and didn't think they needed botox and plastic surgery at the age of thirty! 😱 Talk about being judgemental, which I guess I am, what the heck are these women going to do when they're sixty? Because I can tell you that if they think they look old at thirty, seventy is going to be a reeeeally rude awakening! 😜And, also, I think that, instead of looking younger after the plastic surgery, many people just look like an alien. There, I said it. 😱 Loved the blue tea! Wish I had religious faith and am envious of those that do, but just can't truly believe that there is anything after our existence here on earth. I fervently hope that I am wrong. 🙏 It would be a wonderful thing to be greeted by a white light after I take my final breath, but I'm not in any hurry to find out if I am right or wrong. Religion is very comforting, though, and I would give a lot to truly believe. 😥 Those who have faith are very lucky. ❣️

Good sermon, Catie! What are your sweaters? I’m in the Dartalong group. I’m on a low buy year and my bulky is really bulky. Wellbutrin did a number on me. It made my drugs to avoid list. Prosperity belief is based on God owns everything. Doesn’t He want His workers to prosper? Don’t get after me. My family doesn’t believe that.

Prosper to the tune of 100 million in assets? That’s so damn extreme!!!! Who needs that much money? 😬😇Who did Jesus hang out with? Who were his friends? Poor people.

Stop being so hard on yourself! Take a breath and make a plan. I see you wrote notes for the podcast- do the same for the each area in your home. I know how it happens...we accumulate on our counters and then stuff it into the cabinets and draws- creating the disorganization. Too many shoes we dont wear, too many purses, it's so easy to purchase, but we dont get into the habit of removing one when one comes in. It's not about organizing storage for example the Container Store. It's about removing the extra we dont need, and just occupies space. And, arent there plenty of Good Will stores that can make our unused items useful for those in need? You bet. ~ Sending you a hug.

Have to say…..if you want to use an aid (ozembic) to become healthier…go for it. It’s not always about weight. You have hypertension…you take a pill. and let’s be candid…being overweight is not healthy. I like that you talk about all of the stuff. I really want to try the tea. Also, I was once strongly advised that the expression “call a spade a spade” is rooted from a racial stem. Having to do with the Ace of Spades being a black symbol, hence the expression. Just in case your religious thoughts are interested.

I think how a women chooses how they want to deal with aging is highly personal and am sad to hear so much judgement from you. Most of the time I agree with what you have to say on your Podcast, but not here. I think it is unfair to judge other women in this way. Still love you and your podcast ❤. All the best - Jen

I grew up in a Catholic family and I’m not sure what I believe. After all of the people that I’ve lost and a long-term injury that I’m dealing with at the moment (again) that’s driving me crazy it makes me wonder if anything really is out there. Just my take on it. You can speak about anything you would like. I just don’t know what to believe anymore. Pain, loss, heartache etc. make me an unbeliever. Some people go toward it and some people back away. One of my friends lost her son in recent months and she went back toward it in a major deep dive. If that happened to me, I would not have but everyone is different. As my Dad used to say, if everyone was the same, it would be a boring world❤

@Rebelmusedesign it would be a boring world. I agree however...I clicked on Gina's video as I wanted to hear about knitting and yarn. If I wanted to listen to a sermon about jesus I wouldve watched a you tube video about that. I just feel that there is a time and place for everything.

I am in total agreement about the mega wealthy "preachers" who talk one thing but actions say the opposite. I followed J M and J O for years until she started on the extreme vanity road and he refused shelter for hurricane victims in the church. I took every book I had by them to the thrift store.

I just saw a reel today talking about how Gen Z is "aging like milk" because of all the work they're getting done to their faces at such a young age. I hadn't hear of any it until today, but it was interesting to listen to. If you're still intrigued to check out biblical teachers/preachers you can check out Joby Martin and the Church of Eleven 22 out of Jacksonville, FL. Over the past year and a half of watching different evangelicals this church and the supplemental podcast, Deepen, is the only one I've found that practice what they preach in the way the Bible says to.
