LisaR: Hi Gina , I had a similar issue with an ambulance ride years ago ...IIm a retired Nurse ,- what worked for me & I suggest you try - Contact the admitting Dr ... ask them to help with this by advocating for you . If the admitting Dr . States your ambulance was prudent & necessary transport , it'll help solidify your claim& get your insurance to cover it. Many patients give up after being told "No , you're not covered", on something where there's a gray area -ie Getting a pre authorization .. You shouldn't be held responsible for pre authorization for ambulance services because it was necessary. Exceptions to the general rules for critical, or serious situations exist , The Drs office has experience with these situations all the time - good luck Gina !

I find it really interesting that all other developed nations have universal healthcare and it is agreed that healthcare is a human right by liberals and conservatives. Only in America have we made our healthcare a business and we are the product.

I respect you for being honest I understand your point totally. I wouldn’t mind having a Luigi candle. Also I love your variegated yarn, especially the black with all the multicolor your “special“ I’ve always wanted to get a sweater quantity of that. Gina, I wish we were closer, haha. I love to hear your views and talking points. It would be fun to have a knitting circle. As always, your insights are refreshing and honest. And everyone bringing their points forward is also interesting. I think where there's power, there's some sort of trade for the good. It's not great but we have lots of knitters in other countries that also have feelings on their medical and often times don’t feel as glad for the universal care. Lots of different perceptions are realities. Hugs, Kimberly

What I found refreshing about your podcast (as a first time listener): 1. You spoke about all the mistakes you made in your knitting 2. You spoke about not liking a specific yarn type without being overly apologetic 3. You spoke about Luigi and what it all actually means. I am South African and we have the same thing happening in our country. You weren’t being hateful - just giving your opinion and concerns. Without apology. Thank you for this

Love the vid opening & closing piano jazz riff, the lighting & sound were absolutely fine & I like the setting, the angles of your social/political commentaries often intrigue me & those little socks are the bomb, so cute & brilliantly made. It seems likely your insurance will pick up the ambulance fee & negotiate it down to a more reasonable expense but yes, medical billing and insurance coverage are murky areas with often devastating consequences. Peace & happy knitting!

PS I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I saw MM talk about his recipe, and jalapeño chips are not potato chips… they are just jalapeños you buy in a jar. Like pickle ‘chips.’ Please don’t hate me. 😊

i agree with the comment below Gina, forget your lighting. just come hang out on the youtubes with us. :) also, can i share what i do with my socks - i couldnt care less about making pairs anymore. I have a bunch of self striping and i just pick the color i want to make and make that. i cant recall the last time i made 2 matching socks one after the other. Eventually i get the 2nd sock done, but you might find get more joy and motivation if you just knit the one you want to knit.

Gina I'm gob smacked by that ambulance fee, but then I live in the uk where you can use an ambulance for free, even when you've dropped a can of beans on your foot 🤷. Lovely to spend some time with your thought provoking self, so much so that I realised that the jumper I'm knitting on needs to be gifted to my daughter😂, its the Tulip Guernsey by Midori Hirose, Ive just fully committed and bought yarn for a traditional Gansey KAL on 2.5mm needles ..... Whats wrong eith me!😂😂😂😂

The hospital probably refused to let you drive to your next destination/Hospital because it would place the responsibility for your safety on them. Therefore… It seems even though it was a third-party transport it should be covered as you were denied your request for a self transport. It is absolutely infuriating. ER related billing complicated ridiculous. Patient versus an outpatient and ER can make a big difference in your bill. I hate it.

Gina, always enjoy your videos. We all have opinions on everything, and most of the time, if you say anything, someone else will argue the point with you. I've first got to say I'm mostly out of the loop on this Luigi drama. I know what happened, but didn't know about the hats. Took me a minute to know what you were talking about. Medical insurance has never been fair. It's a numbers game. Just like the fire insurance in California. The insurance company won't insure most of the places there because of these winds every year and millions of dollars to rebuild. Insurance is like going to Las Vegas with the thought that you are going to win a bunch of money, but the odds are always in their favor. It comes down to honesty and compassion and insurance companies don't have either. On reading Dune. I'm not a si-fi person but I loved reading all the Dune books. I couldn't put them down and I read these twenty years ago. Your socks are beautiful. Your sweaters and shawls are always beautiful. We all make mistakes when we knit. Most of the time I leave them if their not noticeable. I've just finished the Go Go Dynamo by Stephen West. It took me forever but it is so pretty. I'm working on a easy cowl right now. I'm on my 5th book for the year. Weather here in Washington state has been fare. Some rain, in the 40's and 50's, no snow yet. We have family in southern California and so far they are okay, but it looks like California has lost a huge part of it's history in the last few days. It is devastating.

The media leads you to believe you are in a unique position in the middle of the aisle. I think the reality is that most of us are right there with you. The politicians that get the most airtime are the ones with extreme opinions. Controversy = Clicks. I love the mug hugs - they are so cute!

Sorry to hear about your health but I say retire don’t feel guilty because of you folks. You sound like you will stay very busy with your retirement list. I pray for the people in LA too and hope they get the help they need. I am in western NC and with all the help we are getting from kind people donating tent camper food etc it has been a slow go. FEMA very slow sadly. They are here but mostly giving $750 for loss of food and a voucher for 7 nights in a motel. Anything else they have not done much else yet. Samaritans Purse which was Billy Graham now Franklin Graham relief help has been wonderful and Water To Wine is another one. Stay strong. Judy

One of the sadest parts of the recent murder might actually be an underlying mental illness that could be the reason for his actions. Schizophrenia and/ or bipolar disorder are a strong possibility. These issues are sometimes untreated mental health illnesses and are certainly something to consider. This CEO also had a wife and children who are innocent to all of it.

I respect that you have a right to your opinion. But I disagree. Insurance companies are awful, but killing a man isn’t the answer. What if it was your husband who was killed to get a conversation started and force change? That man’s children will live the rest of their lives without a father. I believe Vigilante justice is wrong.
