I put money down to reserve season tickets many years ago for the potential Orlando team. St. Pete won. I am ready to put money down for an Orlando team. Thanks goodness they are looking at 35 acre facility out by Sea World instead of a depressed and unsafe inner city site. Rays are my team so I would love to see them move here. Go Dreamers!

MLB would not allow a team to go in Orlando while the Rays are still in Tampa Bay. Baseball In Florida has not drawn well enough. Makes more sense for MLB to expand in Montreal and Nashville.

I have great respect for Pat but just look at the Orlando Magic. We don't need a Baseball Team and especially in that area of town. Build a park halfway between Orlando and Tampa. Both cities along with many tourists will go to the ballpark.

I don't think "dreamers" will be the team name if it happens if so i dont see may people gravitating to it just my opinion. Although his explanation of the name gives it merit

Think of how much better Orlando would be if we spent $1 billion on Lynx and Sunrail. Less traffic, more economic mobility, much improved lives for people at the bottom of the income ladder. Now think of what will change in your life if we build an MLB stadium? Nothing. We don't need to spend $1 billion more TDT money to attract tourists here, Disney and Universal attraction tens of millions of tourists and they pay for their own attractions. Universal building a new theme park right now and other than some road improvements they are paying for it themselves. All we are going to be doing with this is subsidizing more low wage job creation filled with people that can't afford to live here.

Unfortunately, the tourist tax cannot legally be spent on things that actually matter, such as infrastructure or public transportation. He mentions this in the interview. This tax money is meant to spur further tourism. So you might as well trick them into using it on something locals will want to use.

@@xviper2k Correct, however that law is in place basically because of corruption (tourist industry made it so only they can decide how its spent). The law can be changed. Other tourist cities in this country use TDT for transportation infrastructure.
