George is right about Sorcery. EC is an adult company run by smart people but Sorcery being boutique is such total bull. The accessories will always be the same crap you get from China and it that doesn't cut it. Puffy booster packs, cheap binders, cheap mousepad style playmats and I'm not even touching the sleeves. Every accessory out of China is exactly the same crap as every single Chinese tcg and the card quality is not good enough for the cost. Sorcery should print in EU or the US, partner with a good accessory company and get their card consistency in order. Of course, all of that will cost much more but either do that or drop the boutique thing. Alpha had great print quality, Beta was useless. AL had much better QC but again, the colors are ALL over the place. The KS Binder was awful. I bought a generic binder of Amazon to fit a full set and the only thing it doesn't have is a KS logo. It's not boutique. If you're not into Sorcery, you're not going out of your way to buy a Sorcery branded binder because of the perceived quality.

First of EC would love to print at the big printing company in the US, but they where booked for 3 years. Secondly the 2nd wave of Beta is way higher quality than Alpha.

I didn't know about the banned list because I haven't ever played modern and I fell out of love with Magic once Sorcery came out.

Thats absolutley not true. There are multiple 12 pocket binders that can hold the Alpha and Beta sets. Thats what I keep mine in. The Ultra Pro 12 Pocket black leather or the the Vault X Premium Exo-Tec holds 480 cards and both of those binders are very good quality

IDK if this is talked about later in the episode, but Louie seemed nervous about his sort at 42:15 when he switches tabs bc Sorcery was on bottom at first, then he sorted by Spend$, not number of boxes. Keep in mind, Sorcery came out with 1 (ONE) set in 2024. FAB came out with 3 - Rosetta, Mistveil and Heavy Hitters (all 3 touted as the biggest successes ever - all of which were release BEFORE Arthurian Legends). Sorcery is a behemoth in comparison.

2 sets, beta was primarily sold in 2024, and also how much of those sorcery sales were speculative buys vs people in FAB buying boxes to actually play the game? like you're supposed to do.

Sorcery is more fresh in comparison. FAB spending before they announced the Tales of Aria print run were probably more in line or higher than Sorcery right now.

@@manguy-e1q Disagree - Sorcery is MOSTLY a collectable card game that is also fun to play. Like pokemon for adults. Making the comparison to FAB may have been a mistake as they are not geared toward the same market of people.

Faithless looting seems to be sliding under the radar of mox opal. I think faithless looting will have more impact overall.

I still laugh when we make assumptions of health of games based purely on sales of TCG Player. We don’t bake into the how much of the game was printed, the $26 million sold of Magic was it out of $100 million of product made (so only 25% of product sold) or the $775k of sorcery sold was 95% of available product. I that case sorcery was more successful. Second they started to talk about TCG Players market share of total sales, games like Pokémon and FaB sell better other places. This is more of the health of TCG Player as a shop not so much a good predictor of the health of a game. Lets not even talk about out singles which some games are horrible about selling sealed product but kill in singles. Very subjective not very analytical

​@manguy-e1q People play both. Sorcery has a higher sale because it's newer. LSS burnt their entire first chunk of customers. If they never released the Monarch or Tales then I'm sure the scale of the numbers would be reversed

@ sorcery has a higher sale dollars cause Beta Sorcery was pump and dump. People paid $200+ a box on TCG player before the restock. FaB actually sold more sealed boxes in the chart, their average price per box was lower due to a more stable box price.
