I had 5 kids. I learned by #3 to have all shopping done by mid-October. When they started saying, "I want...," I reminded them that I was done shopping. It stopped a lot of demands and gave me time to focus on activities with them and a little decor.

I’ve been working toward this for a few years now… I’m almost done with this years shopping. I gave myself a deadline of getting it all done by December 20th at the latest, because I’ve been known to be extremely last minute with my gift shopping and such. I think next year I’ll shoot for a December 5 deadline. Hopefully I’ll eventually get to mid October like you! I admire you so much for that!

19:36 I have one even better (in my opinion, lol) Place the garbage bag like normal, then place ANOTHER one just like that, normal!Always leave the first one in, every time you take out the trash, leave the first one, and place a 2nd one. This way if anything leaks or the bag breaks, your trash can won't get dirty. (Of course replace the first layer one as needed.) I feel like this is a genius idea! Yes, i learned it somewhere on KZbin, no, I don't recall where. 😢 Yes, I was mid-forties when I learned! I hope I save someone else from cleaning a dirty trash can! Lol

19:11 a little tip....if you put the items with the stickers on it in the freezer for about a half hour if possible, the sticker will pull off without ripping or leaving any residue! If unable to leave in the freezer that long, leave in as long as possible. It works perfectly!

Tip for u as a newer mom, when it comes to xmas gifts make sure the best present is from Mom & Dad not Santa, u want to be the heroes. This was a idea my neighbor told when mine were young

Hey Whitney, just a suggestion from someone with a family full of food alkergies. When repackaging foods like the cookie mixes, be sure to tape the ingredients list to the bottom of the jar so it can be checked before eating. It can be dangerous for someone with allergies to eat anything without reading first. We would end up throwing your beautiful gift away to stay safe.

I have a hack for you too! Your butter hack was good but if you don't have time for the minutes, try this. Put a wrapped stick of butter on the turn table and hit 4 seconds, then flip the stick to the next side. 4 seconds each side will make it soft enough to spread in toast. I haven't tried 5 on each side but 4 works for me. Lots of great hacks here!

Love your ideas! I’ve been using the garbage can trick for years with my Simple Human kitchen garbage can. I throw the entire small compact pkg of them inside the can and they’re always there for me. I also throw several neatly folded small trash can bags into my small cans in every room so they’re available as well.

I've been taking pictures of my decor for years. I repeat all my decor from year to year, and this helps me remember where it all fits. I keep all the pictures on my computer in a folder labeled Holiday Tablescapes.
