I got to watch him mow his lawn a couple of times when I was a kid. Kind of surreal, funny and awesome all at once.

The reason they had no sponsors is because no one was watching. Companies want their ads viewed by the largest audience. The NBA had one of the smallest audiences.

The loss to Michigan was SO heartbreaking, but possibly predictable. Magics team was better while Larry’s team pretty much only had Larry. The plan to neutralize Larry was all it took. I read in one of his biographies that before the game he wasn’t “feeling it.” Regardless, I think the sight of Larry’s head in the towel after the game has to be one of the most heartbreaking sights ever.

Your question about sponsors…sponsors make money when seats are filled. Or when TV sets are tuned to a certain program. You kinda missed the implications of what Bryant Gumbel meant when he was talking about differences in STYLE. Imo, the way Whites play vs the way Blacks play the game MATTERS. White players are historically TEAM oriented, and focus on fundamentals. Black players are SELF oriented & focus on personal glory & stats. Michael Cooper basically said the same thing. The way it seemed to me at the time was that there was a real culture clash on the court & with the audience. As well, the perception of drug use was a turn off, as well as the super aggressive style of play by the Black players…And that meant the sponsors had no reason to invest money if nobody was interested…

Knickerbockers were their own enemy, they battled each other as well as the team they were playing. Everyone stopped that thanks in part to Pistol Pete Maravich when he dropped 68 points on them with no 3-Point line or a shot clock. To stop him from hitting 70 points the refs called two fouls that were not fouls, just to get him out of the game. Maravich last year in the pro's, he went to the Celtics, and was Bird's rookie year.

I like your react to this era of ball. As a lowly Warrior fan in the 80s', I liked Bird's game and was jealous of Magic as Showtime spanked my home team. I love the feeling of redemption now as the Warrior's have been playing this selfless ball for the last decade with some decent results. (I'm 50 years old and I can't believe my Golden State Warriors have 4 titles in the last 8 years- sheesh! ;)

Alarm clock: I haven't used an alarm clock in 40 years. And even further than that all through high school, I'd set my alarm for 7:30 and wake up every morning at 7:25 & turn the alarm off. I haven't worn a watch since 1989. The clocks I do have, I set 10 minutes fast so I'm never late.

I set to alarms bc I always manage to put one out in my sleep 😂. And I snooze for like an hour. If I don’t have anywhere I have to be, I sleep until I wake up by myself, usually around 8.30.

Yea and the playboy mansion is where he probably contracted the aids virus and we almost lost one of the worlds great superstars, thankfully he got through it and him and Larry saved the league then became lifelong friends after they both retired.

I know Larry has mentioned that it was the last game of his college days and a 30 - 0 season: I’m sure he felt the weight of his school and his team on him as the lead scorer.

Enjoy your hosting, As to the sponsorship, I believe ultimately it came down to, color,....the color green, basketball wasn't getting the ratings, there was the race issue, and the drug problem,so sponsors held out until they felt they could take a gamble and make some money...just my personal opinion. Thx for the GREAT videos This story is one for the AGES, I don't think there'll b another like it They're story was and is EPIC

I use an alarm clock… but I also get up at 4:30am so that I can go to the gym from 5-6am then get home and shower and eat before starting my 7a-4p work day. I’m not a morning person at all, but I also know that if I don’t exercise before work I’m not going to at all lol

After enjoying your 1st part of Magic, Bird special more people should see your unifying style more now than ever, where it’s now more obvious than ever they “elite” want to divide and conquer. We just didn’t see they’ve been doing this Forever!

I don’t live in the US so maybe I don’t understand the problem but how does it matter what colour a person have doing anything? If you’re watching basketball, I would presume you want to see fun and exiting games and great players performing? How does that experience change with the way a player looks 🤔?

JUST MAKES YOU WONDER IF BIRD HAD JUST HAD ONE COMPLIMENTARY PLAYER (SOMEONE TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF OF BIRD) WOULD THAT HAVE CHANGED THE OUTCOME OF THAT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME? WE WILL NEVER EVER KNOW!!!!!!!!!

Watching this is great. It would be much greater if you can learn not to interrupt the show every 5 seconds. Some of us out here know much more about the players and their team, coaches, etc. than you do and it detracts from the show when you cannot hold back commenting about a superficial piece of knowledge you've gained or have to reinforce what one of the players or commentators has said. You may not like hearing this, but to many of those listening I'll bet they don't care about your "insights" because you don't have any extraordinary insights that are of interest because you haven't lived the game like some do for many years who can really say remarkable things...not every 5 seconds either. As for me I'm reluctant to tune in again. And you're not the only one. Some are incredible in laughing and noisy interrupting for long nonsense and child's play. I make a point not to go back to those.

He HAS to pause and provide additional jokes, narration, criticism, commentary, etc. Otherwise, the video would not be fair use. Mot reactors would take this Larry V Magic film and make one video with ten minutes of content and call it a day. ShakaShine goes the extra mile and makes it five parts to get as much of the original content for us as possible and you got to go and be a douche about it?!?!?!
