Regarding Magic (I luv the man), but it's not how you start a game, it's how you end it. He should not take credit for the Lakers current success as he left them hang and dry! If the Lakers is failing instead of succeeding, will Magic takes the blame. Don't think so, so he should not take the credit.
@Israel-nb7ip

Exactly...they haven't won a damn thing yet. If this team never wins a ring and Anthony Davis is gone at the end of this season or next, is Magic gonna stand up and say this was all him? He'd probably do the opposite and say that if he was there that would've never happened. Magic's ego is nuts.

@Israel-nb7ip
@Israel-nb7ip 4 жыл бұрын
@@evelinotiger6107 I'll give you Lonzo and Rondo and that's it. LeBron was going there no matter who was in the front office unless there was an open scandal in play. Where else was he gonna go? He was beyond CLE, wanted to live in LA to grow his production company, and the Clippers didn't have the cap room. He wasn't going back to MIA under any circumstances AND they didn't have the cap space. So where was he going? AD went to LA because of LeBron and him being on Clutch Sports. Stop it with the myths.

@Truth10011
@Truth10011 4 жыл бұрын
I agree that magic Johnson didn't have anything to do with the Lakers success, but if we're being fair he wasn't playing with the same deck of cards as pelinka when it came to A.D. First he was negotiating with a G.M. that haad no interest in making a trade with him. Second the Pelicans were more willing to make that deal after getting Zion, and after the Lakers got the 4th overall pick which they threw in, at the time they didn't have that asset and the Pelicans didn't have the first overall pick and a potential Davis replacement. 3rd of all Davis went from saying every team is in the Davis sweepstakes and hell play for anyone to "come 2020 were going to free agencey" A.K.A if I don't go to the Lakers I'm gonna take my ball and go home. Which scared other teams from trading for him and by extension taking away all the Pelicans leverage so they had no choice but to accept a kuzmaless package from the Lakers or risk losing Davis for norhing. So let's not act like Pelinka was able to make the deal of the century, he was dealing with a more Willing negotiating partner than magic, he had more assets than Johnson had at his disposal, and the Pelicans had more reason

Magic Johnson jumped off the ship as the captain before an in route collision, however RP rerouted the ship. Magic had a hand in bringing LeBron to LA, but the LAKERS wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for RP bringing in and back a bunch of dudes who clearly play well with LeBron as the primary ball handler. Remember LeBron didn’t even know Magic resigned before the game. Magic Johnson indirectly put this together, but RP directly impacted the Lakers

Chris giving magic too much credit, rob parker not enough. Pelinka wasn't going to be able to get AD without bron, and Bron i do believe thought magic being there gave the lakers stability and bron does get credit for bringing in AD, HANDS DOWN. That being said, the roster around great players is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. That part is 1000 percent mr. Pelinka. Big credit there as well allot of free agents were off the market courtesy of kawhi's chess moves. I think that's a fair assessment. Oh wait i just thought about this but magic did ALLOT of financial setup in the preceding years around contractual constraints. Can't underestimate that since that gave them the cap space for them to use

(Jimmy Kimmel) Magic wanted the best people to surround himself to bring the team back and got Rob, Rob has done amazing and since then has made great moves. Unfortunate he realized that the job comes with PR restrictions that doesn't fit him and he also made a promise to himself that he would resign if results were not up to his standard in one year. Magic is the one that decided to sign ball handlers over shooters. Magic let Julius Randle and Brook Lopez walk because he felt that Michael Beasley could duplicate what they did. Magic traded our young center for pretty much nothing. Magic traded Lou Williams and was at least partially responsible for Leonard not wanting to come to the Lakers because, Magic is unable to keep his damn mouth shut. Magic Johnson told Lonso Ball, your jersey's going to be in the Lakers rafters one day and "try not to break all of my records." Lastly, after Magic Johnson left, he pretty much took a blow torch to the Lakers organization, partially ensuring that there was no way in hell Leonard was going to the Lakers. Magic as a player, definitely a legend but Magic as an executive of the Lakers, a complete and utter disaster.

Rob Parker contradicts himself by yesterday agreeing with Coach Rivers who claimed that LBJ runs the Lakers & not anyone else including Rob Pelinka it seems, at least that's implied by Coach Rivers' comment. Then today, Rob Parker swiftly denies LBJ any credit for AD & the other players joining the team. Which is it Rob? You can't have it both ways. In relation to the question about Magic, Magic does deserve some credit for where the Lakers are today for his role in at least helping secure the services of LBJ. If LBJ wasn't with the Lakers, this year's squad wouldn't exist because it'd be a whole different playing roster!!! We'd probably still have B.I., Zo & Josh Hart & other high draft picks. Mike Jones he’s not gonna tell u fanboy. That’s why u scope things out for urself when things are going on in front of u. Hard to do that when ur a fanboy

@@indmslikedeez8005 you're absolutely right! Nike paid 2 million for that building with lebron as the face. The reason u know it's a parting gift is because it's nothing but a museum with his shoes, jerseys, and face plastered everywhere

Magic Johnson gets credit for catching Lebron for the Lakers like a worm is for being bait for a big fish. Rob Perlinka and Jeanie Bus get credit for setting a trap to a catch the big fish(Lebron). Lebron was all to willing to get caught.

Why Chris scream so much?!? This isn't the calm, unbiased Chris I have grown to respect. This Chris gives annoying SAS vibes to the max.

The Lakers are good DESPITE Magic. He surrounded LeBron with ball dominant players and not shooters. He trades Zubac to the Clippers for Muscala. He was tampering and talking too much when GMslike West simply get the things done quietly. Bad bad bad GM. Very good player. Top 5. And very good person Number 2 story teller behind Chapelle and number 1 best smile

Who drafted the players that assisted in the trade not including ingram for a.d.? And other trades that created the space to get assets and draft picks? The magic man

He forced the trade. Davis forced his way out. Ball is a bust Hart is ok. Ingram is all they got back.
