Magic Kingdom vs EPCOT -- Which Park is Better?

For me there’s a certain feeling I get when I’m at Disneyland or Magic Kingdom where im on an attraction or at a show it’ll hit and I feel like I’m at home. I don’t get that at DCA or EPCOT.

My husband and I grew up going to CA Disneyland with our families every year. Then we moved to the East Coast and we avoided going to MK for many years, but EPCOT was our favorite park. When our daughter was really young we took her to MK, which was great (the queues for many of her favorite rides are great at MK like Winnie the Pooh/Peter Pan/Dumbo). However, we then did a trip to EPCOT with her a year later and she loved it too. She loved Turtle Talk, Nemo, the aquarium, Frozen, Soarin’, eating Kakigori/shopping in Japan, everything FIGMENT, and meeting both Anna and Elsa. We now live closer to the West Coast and went back to Disneyland for the 100 celebration and we loved it, but I think our next Disney vacation will be EPCOT.

Epcot hands down. I'm 61, so that may not be a big shock. BUT, if you have never been to Disney, then you have to do Magic Kingdom above the other parks. That's the starting point for newbies.

Definitely Epcot. Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite mcu movie and that ride just makes me want to go there now. Whenever I’m at Epcot, I buy the lightning lane, and get both virtual queues. Gotta max it out.

I hear ya Dustin. I love Moana and since beating breast cancer, “How Far I’ll Go” and mixed with “I am Moana,” these have become my personal fight theme songs. I’m 41 and literally cried during that part in Fantasmic. It’s been a rough year but I’m here. 🙌🏼

Epcot is the park that gets me. We only come from the U.K. every few years and I well up as soon as I hear the entrance music. I just love the space, the flowers and monorail going over and the whole feel.

Magic Kingdom for me…also a video series suggestion. Visit MK as it has been over the years. Visit “opening day” attractions/rides/foods with no Genie plus and be dressed up in early 70’s garbs. Then visit 1982 Epcot with no genie plus again doing only attractions that were available be in early 80’s outfits. Then revisit the parks through the years (MK in 1985, 1995, 2005..you get it) and don’t forget the fashion must be time period accurate!

I love the reactions when you realized Figment was left out, but my favorite is when RJay said Spaceship Earth was the best icon. Looks on Fry Bucket and Emma's faces matched what I felt!!! If the question is which one do you like better - Epcot (and even when my son was a little kid he would have said the same thing). If the question is if you only had one day which would you go to? I'd have to ask - have I ever been to WDW at all? If not, then MK just because it is the flagship park. Have I been before and I only have one day? Epcot. Or better yet, I'm getting me a park hopper and at least doing both and probably at least stepping foot into all four.

I last came to Disneyworld in 2014 with friends and in 4 weeks I'm going back with my now 10yr old daughter. I have to say when comparing one park against the other it's a no brainier. Epcot is fantastic but when you think DisneyWorld you think main street and that castle simple as that. We all know there is so much more to it but when booking your holiday you are thinking about that castle and the excitement it gives you knowing you and especially your child or children are going to get to see it too. It's just so iconic and it's a privilege and a luxury to be able to see it. That's why we get so emotional especially as parents.

I went to Disney World back in December 2022 after 7 years and I forgot how magical Magic Kingdom is. The parades through the day are so fun and make me feel like a little kid singing my heart out plus the rides a very fun too and love the different sections if the park. But I also love epcot too. Going for country to country is amazing and I loveee test track, guardians, the land, soarin and so many others rides. Plus, the food is so good 💖

Epcot for me easily. Other than maybe the Safari in AK, there is nothing more rewarding than a day strolling through World Showcase, interacting with the Cast Members and learning about those countries and the FOOD!

I'm with Dustin...Epcot Kingdom!! This is a good debate and it's such a hard choice! They are both so unique and have their own special characteristics. If I'm being completely honest, though, Epcot wins for me, but just barely! I will say, my favorite time of year for Epcot is the Flower and Garden Festival. It holds a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite time of year for that specific park. However, my favorite time of year for MK is definitely Christmas! MK is magical any time of year, but walking down Main Street USA with the beautiful decor, especially the big tree, and the Christmas music playing...oh the goosebumps and tears erupt because the magic is tripled for me!! So I loved Dustin's answer of Epcot Kingdom! I'm totally on board with that answer!😊

I can't seem to find anything on the internet pertaining to the new Magic Band plus only reviews after it first come out and was still real buggy. I have to say that Epcot has become wonderful, while watching these videos! I would love to visit again. However, since I haven't been there, since 1997, I can't say it was my favorite park. The only festival I attended was the holiday festival, and believe me I was moved to tears in the Christmas concert, in American Adventure. However, there wasn't much there, at the time, for young children. So right now, and probably not fair, I have to go with Emma, and the OG.

I think the question has to be asked....is this choose one park forever? If so, easy choice MK, for all the reasons mentioned. But if just what park is hitting the spot currently, Epcot. Love the festivals, but love it more at Christmas. I love the pace over there

If it is your first time to WDW, then MK is a must do. If you are a regular, esp if you dont have young kids anymore, its EPCOT

This is SUCH A HARD CHOICE FOR ME! I LOVE LOVE LOVE EPCOT! But, I'm with Emma's logic. There are just such undeniable...unavoidable even...magical vibes in Magic Kingdom. If I HAD to pick, I'd be upset that I couldn't go to EPCOT, but I'd immediately move on once I got to the MK Transportation Hub and had to decide if I felt like it was a Monorail day or a Ferry day.

Epcot for sure.. has the best ride imo of GOTG Cosmic Rewind.. and nothing compares to World Showcase.. eating and drinking around the world and the festivals..

For me, definitely Magic Kingdom. I've never been to Disney World but Magic Kingdom is the park I know most about and I feel like I would get so much anxiety being in EPCOT without knowing the layout at all. Also, Magic Kingdom feels more disconnected from the world than EPCOT which feels more relaxing.

I always enjoy the festivals at EPCOT. I will not go to Disney World if there isn't a festival on. I still have yet to get to Festival of the Arts though because I've never gone at that time of year. How dare you forget FIGMENT.

I used to say Epcot 10 times out of 10 but this was back in the Horizons, old Living Seas pre-nemo, days etc. Future World or whatever its name is these days is just not quite what I'm looking for so I'd probably do Magic Kingdom.

Eh with kids Epcot has tons to do honestly and less waiting unlike MK. As an example just walking through all the shops with a 3 year old in Epcot is something interesting as they see the China and Japan pavilion. Looking at the toy train by Germany. A aquarium that would likely charge $25/person if it wasn't at Disney. MK is wait for Peter Pan, then wait for Winnie the Pooh, then wait for Small World, then wait for Jungle Cruise. About the only things without a wait are the couple shows.

EPCOT and it's not even close imo. It has Soarin', Test Track, and Guardians & all three rides are better than anything in Magic Kingdom. Plus, it has the festivals and so much amazing food. I rank the Disney World parks as: 1. DHS 2. EPCOT 3. Animal Kingdom 4. Magic Kingdom

I feel like the festivals were launched as a way to entice people to Epcot because they otherwise wouldn’t go. For me, if I have one day to spend it’s going to be Magic Kingdom for sure!!

Like watching Fry, but could she (you?) perhaps get to the point a bit faster. Kinda feels like you're dancing around the point and take forever to get there when we already know where you're heading (in the talking heads videos, not park stuff just to be clear). Like watch about 25 seconds into over a minute. We know where you're headed, there's long pauses between every few words, it's too drawn out.
