Finally I'm one step closer to getting that weather app on my dslr that I so desire.

Ironic that a video featuring the best cameras and best rom software is blurry as F. But seriously, what would/could this be used for?

gatebasher311 Full control of the camera, enhanced functionality and easier to develop on. Developing for Linux would be easier than trying to decrypt a trick camera DSLR everytime.

Okay, april 1st is over now: www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14847 Booting Linux was no fake :) Plus Microsoft stole us the show and released their DOS emu for windows phones just the same day as we did that for DSLRs: ;) www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14853 @gatebasher311: What do you think where the good cameras were in this moment? Right, in front of my Lumia. But you are right, kinda ironic :)

***** Bit harsh, mate. They've just started out, so it probably won't be pretty. Just sit back a bit and see how it grows.

***** Linux is a well established OS with tons of development already done for it. If Linux can run on something, that means tons of tools, utilities, and apps can be ported to it fairly easily. Right now it's just text, but it's a quick jump from there to all kind of possibilities.

***** It's amazing people who wouldn't be otherwise interested in developing will do it now becasue linux is a standard.

***** I don't know what he put on those cards (I would LOVE to find out), but it is called a Linux Kernel Panic. Just look that up on Google.

D: this litterally blows my mind, the possibilities with these cameras are getting crazy!! on a side note, when will a GUI be available with a keyboard and mouse? :P

Carlos S. M. Maybe or maybe not. I don't know the type of cpu this camera has so...

I suppose one would need a custom-tailored GUI to make use of this (as there's probably no way to ssh into one of those cameras). How are you going to build this? Which existing layers are you going to reuse? Will you write a custom input driver for all the hardware buttons?
@UltimatePwnageNL9 жыл бұрын
If they can get it to show up as a serial port over usb you can access the terminal and do raw data transfers... Would probably speed up development a lot.

Hatagashira Ah you're right, I totally forgot that cameras all have usb connections.

Google what a linux kernel is. This is a lot more than just "jackshit". If a linux kernel can run on the camera, it can also chainload other modules like a graphical interface to have a fully working OS on the camera.
@scriptwarlock9 жыл бұрын
if you know nothing about those then it's none of your business, we'll move on as planned(world domination!)
@DaVince219 жыл бұрын
It means a LOT to those who know what that load of text (not just digits; actual, meaningful text) means. It means a full-featured OS that's easy to develop for can run on this camera. The next step is creating amazing software that tops whatever software the camera runs by default. There are so many possibilities for this. Really.

+Shalom how many time you going to comment this? Iv seen it twice in one roll of the mouse lol
