How do I get focus peaking on my 6D with Magic Lantern. I have loaded it on the camera and it has all the other features but no focus peaking?? What am I missing here

In the Overlay section of the Magic Lantern menu (third icon from the left), you'll see Focus Peak three rows down.

ocus Peaking doesn't work while Magic Zoom is active. You have to pick only one of these focus aids. You can OFF and ON Focus Peaking with central button on a wheel.

Dear Robert, can you email me with the solution? I have downloaded the magic lantern firmware, uploaded tot he camera, male all the settings as you show on the focus stacking, but when I press the camera still only takes one picture? Why? what setting do I need to do for te canon 6D for it to work?

Yes you can still take pictures with ML installed. It just gives you more features.

Sheila Shimmers you need Magic Lantern software installed on your sd card. This software gives your camera extra functions.

Make sure you have all the required files copied to the SD card when booting the camera and pressing the Trash Can button.

I just did a quick test of over 10 minutes recording with no problems. I use PNY Professional 32GB 20mb/s Class 10 formatted with FAT32.

I am able to use both on my 6D so I would assume you can on the 6D II also.

Since the focusing steps are done through the Magic Lantern software you would need to use a lens with AF.

Marcelo, I didn't see any problems with peaking on the t5i on Magic Lanterns site. Perhaps an uninstall and reinstall would fix the problem. I have not seen that happen on my 6D. Let me know the outcome.

I have ML on my 6D and recently I was on a trip to get photos of fireflies. As we do not have intervalometer in canon software ML helped me with it but the thing is processing time! I was having shutter speed of 20sec, ISO 3000, F 4.5 and it was taking 10+ sec to process and save the image. Where Nikon was taking less than 3sec to save the image. I was super disappointed with ML. MMC I am using is class 10 150mb/s scandisk. I am removing ML. Better I buy $30-35 intervalometer for the same. If there is any solution, let me know I will keep ML…R

ML doesn't add any help on how the focus points can be selected. You can always set the Multi-Controller wheel to scroll easier to the focus point you want.

Thank you for the tutorial very informative. Quick question though have you seen the build they have for Magic Lantern 4K for 6D? I have the Canon 6D but I have had a fear of putting Magic Lantern on my 6D considering the bad posts from the past but if they have it in 4K I just might have to chance it.

I got a T7i/800D and THEN realized it can't record past 30 min. BAM! Then I heard about Magic Lantern and thought: I'm saved. But looking at development reports, no one has even started ML development for T7. ugh

The cameras that have ML available are sporadic. The EOS M3 I have is not on the list either.
