I took a 2 day lesson from Lynn Blake about 10 years ago. Only guy who taught me lag and how to embrace being a hitter of the golf ball. He’s a bit of a character but great instructor.

He breaks down the complexity of the Golfing Machine beautifully. A hands controlled pivot with extensor action is the best thing I've ever done for my swing. Like most, I've turned my shoulders too early in the backswing which brings my arms and club inside the plane. Starting out with the right forearm on plane and using it to stretch the left arm has given me a check reign which automatically keeps you on plane and times your pivot correctly. Like Lynn says, it feels like you're not doing much which is a good thing. It's easier to repeat.

Hi John, just curious when you "turned your shoulders too quickly" what was your miss?

You are so right nobody is talking about the right forearm/elbow/wrist combination. When l can manage to involve my right (trail) forearm to my golf swing it's the purest swing there is and buttering the ball feels like nothing BUT l don't know how it happens hahaha or how to repeat it lol. Now l learn more of how to, thank you.

Good stuff. I'm a 2 handicap and had no idea about that. I went and worked on it. it's a light easier with a soft bent right arm at address. I think my right arm was so straight at address because that's where I thought it was supposed to be an impact.
@johnnyparker99284 жыл бұрын
I have experimented with this before with positive results but you're right no one else talks about it. I personally think this is Sam Snead's swing.

lynn, i went to a clebrity golf tourney with mostly athletes from boston sports teams and a lot of allstars and most of them weren't much better at golf than us amateurs. maybe golf isn't that natural and has to be learned. thnx for the help.

6-B-1-D says that extensor action stretches but does not move the left arm. I know the right elbow cocks the left wrist but...I've got to missing something here.

without flattening the right wrist (and nobody told the right wrist!). The right wrist does flatten after impact and in order to achieve what Lynn says you must know when the right wrist does flatten. You are swinging to conclusion after contact.
@jvswaim38687 жыл бұрын
It won't flatten after impact unless you let it. At address, freeze it with impact bend and level(big thumb knuckle in line with the top of the forearm), and keep it in that condition through to the finish. It should only turn and roll as he says.

Why don't we wear the glove on the right hand? Isn't that wear the power comes from in the backswing and downswing?

Trying to do something with the hands while swinging is a sure way to muck up your timing and start flipping. With a good swing, the hands/wrists will release til the club is in line with the lead arm/hand at or just after impact, and stay in that relative position through finish without ever flipping. Saying the right hand doesn't release through the ball is just nuts. It's the final lever at the tip end of the whip. If you go to slap someone, do you keep your wrist flexed? No, you slap with a flat palm. Hitting the golf ball is like that, but you slap down instead of across, and the club causes hinging and unhinging.

How can centrifugal force be part of the golf swing, when science considers it to be a FICTCIOUS force?
@Rudy20536 жыл бұрын
Yes....with all the clubs. He is right, but takes many years to get to that point, when you do it right, feels like butter, effortless, just imaging your right upper arm has a hinge connected to your body, like when you open a door, just bring the left side back in the back swing, like a revolving door, you'll be more connected and easier to attack the ball from the inside, as long as you don't make the ball your target, which will make you come over the top, the ball is just in the way of the swing path, then go around the corner....meaning swing left after hitting the ball, for that to happen....you have to keep turning your left shoulder and hip towards the back of the target non stop, and you will keep the bent right wrist to the end of the swing. Ray Cayse . TGM ( the golfing machine ) was not written by a scientist. There is some good in the system but the science is very weak. It’s a case of “ never lets the facts get in the way of a good theory “ 😀

Complete load of rubbish!!!! How the he'll, can such a static move of the ball, take advantage, of the clubhead , mechanically coupled to the rotating mass. The mind actually, is in the soles of the feet; which power the golfswing and not in the hands, like this man proposes. A complete load of rubbish 😊😊😊😊

@isambardk43903 жыл бұрын
@@lduranceau8046 Kind of arrogant don't you think, to say "it will not work". May not work for you but it sure works for me and apparently for others posting here and I suspect for many of his students or he wouldn't be teaching it. I developed a severe shoulder problem that affected my "conventional" swing to the point my scores and handicap were going seriously in the wrong direction. Through much trial and error, I ended up essentially with this swing....hitting with a punching motion with the right (trail) arm. I find the abbreviated swing, pain-free, and with so few moving parts, easily repeatable with very little to think about. I don't appear to have lost much if any, club head speed and, with the shorter swing, seem to make crisper contact so getting very good distance for my age. Scores and handicap coming down nicely. Maybe if you are a 20 year old aiming to get on the Tour and want to carry your drive in excess of 300 yards there are better ways to swing a club. But for the vast majority of social players a repeatable swing that has you hitting a short iron into the green with a 2 putt for par is all that you need. This swing achieves that.
