I started playing when I was 7 yrs old, by the time I was 16 I was a very successful golfer, I shot under par regularly from the back tees. I remember showing off and hitting balls well over 200 yards with just my right arm, I could fly it close to 300 in the air with my old persimmon Power Bilt clubs 2 handed. As I grew older ( I’m over 70 now) and became successful in business i began taking lesson from well known teachers ( JIM Flick etc) to try and recapture the swing I had when I was young . I never got it back, I barely hit the ball 210 yards now. I watched your video and it brought back old memories long forgotten, I can’t wait to get to the course and get back to my old swing thoughts. I’ll keep in touch, thanks for reminding me how I used to swing a club.

As long as I'm on your side of the better ball sir I'd love a game when we're allowed out. 300 yards with persimmon and balata is some serious golf!! 210 yards at 70+ is not too shabby either mind you.

Nice job!! This is precisely why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is a great feel! I'm not sure the dominant arm matters as much as the body slowing to "send" it. The momentum starts going forward from the body slowing down so you can send it with either arm dominating. I agree that the left arm going toward the target is throwing all the speed away. The left arm bracing and slowing down is another story.

I ALWAYS hated the idea of taking your dominant hand out of the swing. But I rationalized it by thinking maybe its another one of those golf opposite things - like hit down to make the ball go up, or take the tension out of your arms to allow the club to swing faster. Now I’m seeing that golf has been taught wrong for the last 20 years because you can’t think about all these positions I’m supposed to hit in a 1.5 second swing. I don’t trust any instructor any more but I do like your videos.

I'm a natural lefty who plays right handed. I tested out my swing speed one handed each side. Turns out I'm faster using my trail (right) arm by 5 mph. If I was a boxer, I'd jab with my right as a lefty. Very powerful. I've also found keeping the left arm straight adds speed to my swing and consistency.

For me its different . I golf left and swing sledge left, hockey left etc. But, I'm right hand dominant for sure. Throw right , write right. Etc. What's your advice? Think it's a good idea to practice with my left arm only with the hammer to strengthen the "punch". ?

The school is where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find in-depth instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Plus, all my short game courses (putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play), advanced level content, diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for your interest! I’ve been splitting some logs today with a sledgehammer and wedge. I noticed while doing some bigger logs that were easier to do on their side, that my right arm was naturally falling into the swing plane. So I spent some time bringing the sledge back in the same plane as you showed on the last video; upper body Turing as one with the arms tucked tight. Now I need to work on getting the hip out of the way on the swing. Question... does the body and arms move together on the swing?
@SagutoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they will work together if you keep the upper arms connected to your side throughout the swing

I don’t know what to tell you man. Pulling with my left has the effect of pulling my whole body through the ball on line. The thought of throwing with my right lead to hooks and no advantage in distance. Some of the best strikers in history - Jones, Snead, Trevino - advocated it for a reason. To each their own of course.

Yep. Ultimately we've got to just figure out what works best for us! Cheers, Tom PS: It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. There's even a members' forum where you can ask me specific swing-related questions, interact with others in the SagutoGolf community, and suggest new content ideas, plus you'll also have access to all exclusive KZbin channel members-only content at no additional charge. This will really put you on the fast track towards learning everything in a well-organized, self-guided fashion. At the risk of sounding a bit corny...."Dude, you nailed it". You've been all around the edges with your other videos. This one hits the proverbial nail on the head. Ben Hogan once said he wished he had three right arms. Your subscribers now know what he meant. Unfortunately, golf being the strange game it is, having a perfect swing doesn't mean you will hit perfect shots. It doesn't mean you will manage your golf ball intelligently around the course. And, it certainly doesn't mean you're going to be a great putter. But, your chances of hitting perfect shots do increase if you have a sound golf swing. This video should help a lot of people with THAT!!

Tom, in hammer you’re not worrying about the direction and how the nail would fly. With leading hand in golf, you have a better handle of the club path direction.
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Actually, if I mishit with the hammer my left thumbnail is going to be purple and hurt a lot because I'm holding the nail with that hand, so I absolutely am concerned with accuracy! Ben Hogan famously said that if he started the downswing correctly with the lower body, he wished he's had three right hands to power the strike. Having said that, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason is why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. So trail arm, lead arm, both arms, no arms - find the "feel" that works best for you and go with it!! TS
@blackie754 жыл бұрын
I feel like my arms sort of fall down, then near the bottom my right arm takes over through the hitting zone. But I feel like it's sort of adding zip to the club, rather than hitting. Adding centrifugal force maybe? That's the only way I can explain it, but this is when I hit the ball and it just explodes of the clubface and stays up forever.

Hi Tony, With regard to that early extension, here are a couple of lesson videos that may help: - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIGlmZSOlK5_pac - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXy9aJiIetuDf7s The trail arm plays such an important role and can make or break the swing, yet surprisingly so little instructional emphasis is placed on it.
