Hi Jonny, hope you are well mate. I didn't buy this initially, wary of all the hype but then I saw a couple of reviews from people I trust. And now you have confirmed it ..... I'm now waiting for delivery. Really does seem a gem. Take it easy my friend.

Thanks Stan, I honestly might be a little slower with some of the big releases and getting the review posted before other reviewers but at least you know that by the time I have posted it I have been working and performing the release so that I can speak to it with some level of authority. I really appreciate you watching the reviews and hope they are helpful.

I agree totally with your review Jonny. Very well done! I have also road tested Evoke, and I really love it. It's so versatile and totally worth the price. I'd be willing to pay a little more to have the cards available in plastic and have a more durable case. In the meantime, I'm ordering a second set. Craig hit it out of the park with this release! This should be a contender for trick of the year for sure.

Hi Steve, I loved seeing your comment and value your perspective on the release. I honestly had not thought of the plastic card until reading your comment and now think that seems like a brilliant idea. I too am ordering an extra set or two as I know I will be using these cards and wearing them out. I couldn't agree with you more regarding the release being a home run for Craig and definitely in my book is in contention at this point to be trick of the year and easily in my top 10 list. But there are a lot of months left in the year so we will have to see what else gets released this year. Thanks so much for watching and leaving the comment.

What a great review. I have read many reviews of Evoke. They are all very good. I am one of those people who you described perfectly. I buy lots of magic just to know how it's done and how the creator thinks. I don't perform at all. I do practice all the tricks and play with them a bit. Then they go in a drawer. I'm not one who is into emotional, inspirational stuff. So in terms of style, I might not like this. I love Phill Smith's marking methods. Craig also just released MindBlox. I suspect that the methods are similar, especially since they both are designed by Smith. Lego is so much more fun and lighthearted than feelings and emotions. Looking forward to a review and comparison of MindBlox

Hi Rob, I think we got to get you out there and do some performing. I imagine you would be awesome. You know you also mentioned something in your comment that I really should of mentioned in the review and that is the work of Phil Smith and his marking system. I love Phil's work and definitely consider myself a fan of his. MindBlox in many ways looks identical in the marking system. Of course I do not have it at this point but looks like there is a lot of similarity in the release of these two products. Stay tuned because if I pick it up I will defiantly do a review. Thanks for being here. Take care my friend.

@@fiddlinjonny Thanks for your quick reply and your kind words. Craig Petty just released an "expose" of MindBlox. He describes the marking system in detail. It's quite different from Evoke and the whole trick is quite different in method. MindBlox is Svengali based plus some other stuff.. I like it a lot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKPTm2lodt2aqtU&ab_channel=CraigPetty%27sMagicTV

Craig has contributed so much to magic. I love apparition and I don’t like coin magic. I am sure that this s great release, but I am tired of all the all the specially printed cards for mind reading. I like show reel.

I appreciate Craig, but all my favorite magicians have small repertoires that they refined over decades. Lennart Green, Slydini, etc, were not performing hundreds of tricks, but rather a maximum of dozens. I actively don't want an 8 hour tutorial. There is zero chance I will ever do half of it because I keep my repertoire small. You can look at it that these are all different options, and that's true, but there's only so much time available. I rarely buy Craig's releases because of this. Moreover there is almost no overlap between my character and his. My favorites of his are the coin sets through Alakazam, because the sets work with each other and are made by Roy Keuppers. By the time I'm 50 I hope to have narrowed it down to about a dozen tricks/methods that I use, and which I absolutely master. I purchase almost nothing but books at this point. Thanks for the review!

If you look at Craigs tutorials, you will see that a lot of routines involve classic moves or plots, but with changed gimmicks oder props. So you can do your (8 to 12) „standard“ routines with coins and cards, but fresh them up - and thats what I like about them. (Granted, it takes some time to find these in between 8 to 9 hours tutorials, but I always find something that suits me, and my time is very limited! ;-)

Not to forget that despite the fact that it has a 9 hours tutorial, this release is so unique compared to his other ones as he steps out of his comfort zone and really digs into mentalism very hard.

Hi Jonny, have so missed your reviews! I really appreciate your candor and willingness as a longtime professional to discuss performance glitches. Your honesty and humility are much appreciated. You reassure some of us "old timers" that practice is still paramount. I agree with you that Craig definitely gives his all to everything he does. And.. despite his oft perceived bravado and brushless he is a really nice guy. He spent time with me at Blackpool and was incredibly thoughtful and humble. He really loves the Magic Community! Jonny, thank you so much for all YOU do!!!! Your friend, David

@@Stan_dart Fair enough. For my character and performance "thought of card" type plots are about as far as I go in the direction of mentalism.
