The OG Snow Lands, the plains in particular are absolutely beautiful, and like others said, damn are they nostalgic! Great video man, look forward to more by you!

I totally love my German FBB collection. That's just nostalgic to me and the power level is great. After all this power creep and product fatigue, I recognized that there are certain cards I enjoy playing more than others. Old School is where my heart is. Ice Age is the set I might have opened most cards of. A local bicycle store decided it might be a good thing to also sell magic in the nineties but quickly changed that decision, resulting in Ice Age starters (60 cards) selling for 7 bucks and without a customer base for magic. I probably bought most of that. I wonder where the majority of those cards went.

That’s amazing! Shame you didn’t keep some sealed but hey, opening for fun is what matters

I started with 4th edition, so Ice Age gives me the nostalgia hard.

It's always nice to look back and remember some of the cool stuff from your youth.

I really liked this one! It's fascinating, that you can talk about Magic the Gathering without referencing Commander. Well, I guess it was Elder Dragon Highlander back then. I know the tournaments for Magic were in full swing around that time. Did any bad sets threaten to kill tournament attendance? Or result in a lot of fights? I guess there are other videos about the history of competitive standard, but I don't know how much you specifically followed it, Lore. So someone dominating with a dark horse snow deck when they were 'awful' would be neat. Or any cases where something random like Kaalia received new lore after years of love from the community.

Not threatening no, but Necropotence did end up needing a ban.

Thanks for this video, I did start with magic a bit later, so I didn't experience this set. 😊

I have a bit of a weird relationship with Ice Age, in that I really enjoy the set but a lot of that love comes from how fundamentally tied it is to Coldsnap. I love Coldsnap for how it both expanded on Ice Age's mechanics and boldly experimented with its own designs. Especially after seeing your review of the set, it sorta feels... Incomplete without the Coldsnap - I'd be very curious to see a video on it alongside Alliances to round out the block. That said I think my favorite early set is Fallen Empires. It may have been a flop in its time, but when you consider how many things it introduced from Thrulls to Thallids (and my favorite type Homarids) to the very concept of a "tribal set", I'd argue Fallen Empires made a greater impact on the game than its more popular predecessors like The Dark (another favorite of mine) and Arabian Nights.

Isn’t it amazing that they were able to release Coldsnap a decade later and turn Ice Age into a full block?

@The_Loreseeker Absolutely astounding, and the designs they put into it too - even on an individual card basis... You can just feel how much passion they put into designing that set - easily up there with the Time Spiral block sets as my all time favorites.
