Not sure who to credit for thinking of this, but it certainly deserved a video!

this is the easiest method I have seen for getting this achievement.

Ok, so there's a big catch with this one. There's a monthly check which verifies that the bus still exist. If you happen to have the bus in transit during this time, the spirit representing the bus will be removed and an event will fire, killing your leader. If that happens, you can no longer get the achievement. How to work around this? Make sure to send the bus just after the month ticks over.

@@hatless_spider I can now also confirm from in game experience that this is correct. By sending the Bus to South Africa on september 3rd, arriving september 17th, my leader did indeed not die. However, the bus actually only got to Cape Town by september 24th and I did not get the achievement. What am I missing here? EDIT: Another run down and now I finally got it. The thing is that you don't actually have to reach cape province, but just Cape State (as can be seen from your video). So instead of going to Cape Town, when you land in Durban, you should head along the railroad to the Desert tile that's in the Cape state and connected to the desert. You will need to use a waypoint to get it to move that way (because pathfinding is dumb). When you reach your waypoint after 1 day and 9 hours, you have to toggle strategic redeploy again to go to Cape. This stretch is just desert along the railroad and won't take you more than a few hours.

Per Albin died while my bus was going to South Africa but the unit remained and I still got the achievement. I just lost the National spirit.

Sounds like we definitely do need to click to keep Per Albin in every decision that comes up. A guy in my discord was saying that when he didn't, Per Albin actually had a heart attack and he wasn't able to then get the achievement Another commenter who was successful suggested adding movement modifiers that will help the bus, this might help, but unconfirmed

That happened to me too. In my 1st attempt I kept Per Albin every time possible. Still, the moment I sent volunteer, the game acted as if the bus was lost and showed an event saying the bus was taken Per Albin having a heart attack.

How do I keep Per Albin in power? In the first event he get's replaced or the goverment falls and if I pick somebody else he dies of a heart attack, before I can do a thing. Edit: Nevermind, it works even if the guy dies

Lol yeah it seemed to be severe pain to do conventionally using only infrastructure and railways. Even the transport plane method I wasn't overly excited for

This guide works in TOA (1.14). I followed the guide for the first part, did all the focus as in the video. Then, WWII started on Aug 24, 1939. Wait until Sept 8 1939 before sent the volunteer. It arrives on Sept 22, use strategic deploy in the division portal, manually click on railways to cape town, make sure you followed all railways, then the achievement pops up. Thanks for the guide!

Worked for me, even though Per Albin died while the bus was transferring. I did stack as many movement modifiers I could find though. For example Flexible Organisation for +5% Division Speed. No idea if that helped but I got the achievement. It ended up being a really weird playthrough, despite having Historical Focuses on. The Spanish Civil War ran till 1942 and the Republicans won, something I've never seen with Historical Focuses on unless I've got involved myself. The Italians and Ethiopians white peaced but Mussolini was never deposed. The Soviets declared war on me so I was able to hold the line for Finland but despite the Soviets being a spent force the Romanians pushed further than the Germans and they didn't take Moscow until 1945, then they stopped moving. I ended up having to push past the Urals then close the centre from the other side with only a dozen or so divisions. The allies stalled in Italy, never pushing much further north than Rome despite controlling all the mediterranean islands and north Africa - the first nuclear bomb got dropped on Lombardy. Japan couldn't capitulate the Chinese and the Allies couldn't push them out of south east Asia either. Everywhere was just stalled. I thought about carrying on to "free" Denmark and Norway but it soon hit 1947 and at the point fighting the Germans is just pain.

Literally grinded this achievement and succeeded earlier today after 17 attempts including joining ww2 and after war against soviets. After that I needed to build close to 2 years of railroads and infra to succeed.

Even after waiting for the 1st of the month and muliple tries it didn't work as here. So I just waited until war with Germany ended and near the end of it joined allies (but not the war) and started building level 1 airports and making many transport planes. After those were done and Germany war was over I hopped from airport to airport until I reached Cape town and it worked. Leader died while getting back from South Africa as volunteer and was long dead when I was doing the hopping, but still got the achievment.

I Just found the real way to do this. Your leader can die even in august and Per Albin does not need to stay in office. You can get this achievement anytime you want you just need to have Mobile Headquarter. The real reason why I did not get this achievement only after 7 restarts are hills. State Natal is full of Mountains. If you wat to have better chance, you need to try it trough transvaal Plains. If you dont get it first of fifth try...try again. It is time clutch, but it is possible.

I had Per die but still got the Achievement. The hardest part for me was deciding what to research and build. It still shows as less than 0.1 % global. There are really that many more that went for Norway Jose?

When I send it as a volunteer and railroad it, it says it's gonna take like 26 days to get to Cape Town, then it changes its mind and I just barely miss the achievement

Even if the volunteer trick didn't work, this achievement can be done alongside the other two. Help allies with WW2, take Danzig from the Soviets for one achievement, supervise Japan within Tokyo for the second. And, after the peace is settled, build railways (in allied territories) from Stockholm to somewhere close to Egypt, then from Egypt to Cape Town. Then, railway the bus from Stockholm, airdrop to Egypt, and railway it to Cape Town.

it can be airdropped? wouldn't that make the achievement trivially easy, as you could just jump from one airfield to another?

@@janslavik5284 chain airdropping is how its intended, see the icon of the achievement with the parachute. However its insanely difficult to get it done in the amount of time. Just try it...

@@512TheWolf512 I did. I conquered the axis, made airports from stockholm to cape town and had transports ready at every airport. Paradropped from one place to the next. But its never instantly, so its tight.

didnt work for me brother, i have tried 13 times , in 6 attemts the lad died before the war , in the other 7 , in my runs at least , i could send the bus bit the lad died while the bus was transporting , i did the math , i wasnt playing around on the stockholm area with the bus, i stacked up all the good speed modifiers , the whole transport went through in 17 days, and i didnt get the achi, idk what goes wrong every time

The game seems to think it's taking longer than the allotted time to make it to capetown but my leader is alive and I followed the sept 3-17th

Did it work for you? Check the pinned comment, make sure you railroad to the desert area since it will be faster! It seems for some people it took two tries as well

@@hatless_spider hey hatless, love the strats and videos. Unfortunately no, everything is correct but the game timer seems to think I missed. When you say railroad the desert would that constitute joining the allies and building within SA?

@daedricdanny8954 no you wouldn't have to. It just means using control b to move the units there as fast as possible. In the vid i moved through the mountains which would be the slowest possible way

Has this been patched? Has this been changed? Literally it says "within 19 days" for me ; but it already takes 14 days for the Volunteer Transfer, and it takes 8 days to drive on railroads from Durban to Cape Town - which adds up to 22 days. I've done this twice now, and failed *twice*

Not patched, no. But I'm guessing there is some rng to it. Is it possible to delete the bus and recruit it again? That would allow you to try it a 2nd time or 3rd time, etc.

@@hatless_spider Bus cannot be Deleted, no - also, even though I improved relations and got military access and docking rights, I cannot even return the Bus back Home :-D I wonder what the RNG might be - after the first time, I assumed it might be missing equipment slowing down the bus, or the bad supply, or the terrain, so I got the general with the highest logistics value to command the Bus, I got a surplus of all equipment for the second run, and I had thousands of trucks in storage to fully motorize the trucks supply. Travel time was still 8 days to cape town.

I think you only need to reach the state itself, make sure you are using ctrl b

Ok, after digging through some gamefiles, I figured it out. Basically, every month the game checks if the bus still exists. If it doesn't, then the idea is removed and you can no longer get the achievement. The workaround here is to make sure you send it within the first 10 days of the month, otherwise you lose your spirit here.

@@hatless_spider Thanks for replying. I tried a good few times. The Per fella died some of the time in the middle which removed the unit sometimes, bizarrely. I ended up doing your strategy after joining the allies, building lvl 5 infrastructure and railways, leaving the allies and sending volunteers.
